From Revolution Tea

With its delectable caramel flavor, Honeybush Caramel is a sweet and fitting conclusion to any meal. The South African herb, rooibos, provides more antioxidants than green tea and gives this blend its soothing properties.

Just realized that a majority of Pilot Truck Stops carry revolution teas! I decided to try my hand at a honeybush tea. It came sealed in plastic… not a box.

Steeping smelled lovely!

Decided to be brave and take a sip without sweetener…. ick! First impression was the horrid taste of cough syrup…

I did not give up there! I sweetened with agave necter. Little sip… better… I could taste a hint of caramel… but the cough syrup taste lingered… bleh…

I hope my honeybush experience wasn’t ruined…

BTW I drank this tea with ice… don’t know if that had a bad affect…

I decided to try another bag of this, from another batch of tea to see if it is any better. Sadly, it is just as bad as the first time I had it. I threw it out after two sips.

You’re far more brave than I! If I really don’t like it, I can only try the same batch once more, let alone trying again with a whole different one!

I was looking for alot more from this tea. I could not taste much carmel. I am glad this was a sample as I do not feel I would want to keep this one on hand.

I used four bags of this to make a pitcher of tea to drink cold. The box was $2 at TJMaxx, and this is pretty tasty, especially for that price. I definitely get the sweet caramel, and the rooibos is good as well. Neither overpowers the other. I even got a decent resteep from the bags. I’m very pleased with this purchase! I’m pretty surprised by all the negative reviews.

Yeah, I flipped back and looked … my original review wasn’t very complimentary. Which is a bummer…honeybush and caramel ought to be a perfect pairing.

Tried this from the Here’s Hoping TTB this weekend in the evening when I wanted something caffeine-free. It smelled like caramel while I sipped on it and did have some sweetness, but didn’t taste like much overall.

Not a fan of this one. It smells and tastes mainly of rooibos with the barest hint of honeybush. No caramel at all! Drinkable, but doesn’t live up to the name whatsoever.

Here’s Hoping Teabox – Round Six – Tea #4
Caramel flavored honeybush sounds good enough for me! …but the base of this one didn’t really seem like honeybush to me. It seemed more like rooibos but woodsier. Some of the honeybush “leaves” looked like they had a black color to them, which is different. The caramel flavor was subtle but there.

I got this in a secret santa exchange and had pretty high hopes when I saw “Caramel” on the box. Unfortunately, it’s not as caramel-y as I had hoped but I liked it much more than I would have expected given the reviews on here.

The caramel is muted and it’s generally not a very sweet tea. Adding some sweetener might pull the caramel flavor out a bit, but thats something to try later. The honeybush was very strong and almost malty, it had a deep earthy flavor (but not like a green or puerh tea might have, this was more like bark and less like dirt or grass.) It might be good with cookies as a ying/yang of flavors.

This is the first rooibos tea I’ve tried. My wife is an EMT and a gas station attendant gave her a few packs of it to try (he recommended it). She doesn’t really drink hot teas in the warmer months, so I became the beneficiary of the two sample packs.

I took my first sip, after steeping per the directions for 5 minutes, and it had a familiar smell I couldn’t quite place…but other than that it was like drinking hot water. Went and got the tea bag out of the plastic container I had placed it on and dropped it back in the water.

All of a sudden it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I KNOW what this smells like!! It smells exactly like the old pipe tobacco my dad used to smoke, ACK. Definitely not tasty, and I’m seriously considering this being a drain pour…I can’t do it.

I will try a loose leaf Rooibos one day, after the memory of this swill fades from memory.

This was my first caramel tea when I tried it years ago. This is a smooth, sweet, flavorful tea. Equal parts caramel and t tobacco. It is an excellent replacement for after dinner coffee. I sometimes have it without dessert in place of the sweet. The Insfuser Bag is simply elegant. The stay fresh packaging is a wonderful idea.

My only criticism is of the brewing instructions. Revolution uses the same instructions for black, red, green and white tea. Any research will tell you that there are differences in the brewing processes.
