From Mighty Leaf Tea

A blend of Ceylon and India black teas with heady vanilla, this sweet and malty brew makes a deeply satisfying impression.

A deep blend of black tea leaves with heady vanilla, Vanilla Bean black tea conjures up images of inhaling the heady aroma of wild vanilla as you hike the tropics. The deep, malty India and Ceylon black tea depths are enveloped in the sweet and sticky aromatic oils that only real, fragrant vanilla beans can bring, for a heady, transportive cup.

INGREDIENTS: Black Tea Leaves, Natural Flavor, Vanilla Bean

For every 12 oz of water, use 1 teaspoon (1 teabag) of tea. For black tea pour water at 212°F and steep 4 minutes.

It’s probably been about a week since I had teabag tea, and it has been quite a while since I last bought teabag tea, but I had decided to try some artisan whole leaf pouches as I seem to have more success with them than typical teabags.

The pouches are quite a surprise, with quality details such as a fine mesh and braided string, as well as room to breath while steeping.

This is possibly my first Mighty Leaf tea as well, as I cannot recall teabags ever giving off a nice detailed vanilla scent like that. It is quite a bright and sweet aroma.

But the true test is in flavor, which this tea seems to know how to handle. It is not reckless in overbearing typical black teas with flavor, the vanilla is quite subtle and quite sweet. I can taste some of the black teas and it is good the vanilla bean works in settling down the overall taste. Quite smooth.

I can tell it had plenty of room to breath while steeping for a nicer flavor. I’m glad this isn’t a typical teabag tea.

This is another tea that I have tried from a sampler kit I bought a week ago from a whole foods mart. I got the pick me up of the Ceylon, the richness and character of a Chinese black tea , but the vanilla was found lacking:( I like the tea but certainly a more pronounced vanilla flavor that can level with the tea is perfect! Malty and a bit piney with vanilla goodness!

My go to tea everytime I get tea from a shop that sells mighty leaf. So far, its the only vanilla black tea I have found. Out of all of the other vanilla infused teas I have tried, this one is the most vanilla-y as well. Nom. :)

I had this at a tea tasting at a Thai restaurant. It didn’t really go with the food. It was simple and slightly sweet. I enjoyed it hot. I love true vanilla, and this had it. I might have it again.

I’m usually not a sweet tea drinker, but this was really good in a moment when I wanted to taste something sweet. It was a great blend. Pretty delicious!

For a basic flavored tea, this is quite nice. I add a little sugar and cream, and it makes a nice dessert tea.

I thought this tea had a lovely flavour. Not quite as robust as I was hoping but it was really yummy. Good flavour combination.

In my adult life I have wanted so badly to be a “tea drinker,” but I have always found myself disappointed with tea. Until today. Until Mighty Leaf’s vanilla bean tea. (Begin lengthy soap box speech.)

This is the first tea I’ve tried that made me want another cup. And another. And another. Two things in particular stand out to me about this tea:

1) The unique vanilla flavor. (I mean, really. Doesn’t the world have enough fruit-flavored teas already?) Interestingly enough in this instance, vanilla bean is not “plain ol’ vanilla” at all. It’s more like like “HECK YES, VANILLA! More please.”

2) With this tea, the smell and taste have the same punch. I hate that experience where you sniff a heavenly scented tea and start to envision how awesome it will be while you’re brewing it and then… it tastes sad and flat. Like a poorly focused, fuzzy version of the aroma that enticed you in the first place. Mighty Leaf’s Vanilla Bean doesn’t do that. The vanilla flavor is right there with you as you sip – bold and friendly and welcoming, like the smell.

bottom line – I love you, Mighty Leaf. Thanks for finally allowing me to claim the coveted title of “tea drinker.”

I’ve been loving this in the mornings lately. There’s an underlying note of – coffee? chocolate? – that meshes well with the smooth, sweet vanilla bean. Smells amazing, too. I like it well enough without any additives, but a tiny bit of Stevia and just a splash of almond milk really makes this one shine. Couldn’t help but smile at the mesh bags (if I’d grown up with this stuff in the house, my mother would have deemed it “company tea”). Surprised to find it in a supermarket (at twice the price of regular supermarket teas), but, hey – it is a full-leaf tea with a ra-ja-ja bag.

After Viva La Tea so highly recommended a vanilla black tea, when I saw this at the grocery store I had to pick it up! I didn’t get the bitter flavors at all that some of the other reviewers mentioned. I found this tea to be light, smooth and slightly sweet.
