Just Blissful Black Oothu

This was one of the teas I asked for a small sample of with my Kickstarter passage, and it’s surprisingly nice. Just a nice, solid, medium black tea, without too much going on. However, the flavour becomes a bit harsher when it’s cold – it’s best to drink this one up quick.

The nice thing is that I only have another cup left – perfect for a sipdown.

A really good black tea from India. Smooth and even-tempered. Well-rounded and malty. Not an overly aggressive or assertive tea. Just really nice.

A good tea to keep on hand – makes a great afternoon tea or a very delicious iced tea.

Thank you again for the samples, Just Organic Tea! I feel terrible they have taken me so long to get to. I’m disappointed with myself! To me, I would use a ton more leaves for each serving than Just Organic sent over, so I tried filling the mugs less than usual. I love these dark twisty leaves. I waited too long to steep – the temp should have been at 195 degrees. I’m not sure if this is the base for some of their other teas, but the flavor is like them – hints of pumpkin and tomato soup. The flavor is too light for me though! I would use two teaspoons of these leaves normally. The leaves have an intense natural sweetness, so I’m glad I didn’t steep this with the sugar JO provided. A very smooth tea!

I finally got around to drinking this lovely sample.

I was nervous once again because the baggy had that icky smell I’ve been bitching about with the Just Organic Teas samples I received. The teas have been good but that smell! Even after a month of airing out the baggies it’s still there.

I couldn’t put my finger on many specific notes when I drank this. I wasn’t trying to really. Sometimes it’s nice to just drink tea and not think too much.

It wasn’t an OMG amazing tea but it left me content and pleased. I could definitely see restocking this one as I don’t have many straight black teas I enjoy. The mishmash of notes blended together into something smooth and pleasant. I

I feel like this would also make a good cold brew.

Nice smooth black tea. It brewed up much lighter than I was expecting, but then again I did brew it at a lower temp (180) then the recommendation (195). I got a nice molasses flavor. Definitely a nice tea, though not my favorite flavors in black tea.

This was another sample I received from Just Organic Tea. Trying to get through tasting them all so I can decide which to request now that their kickstarter is finished.

Nice! This is one of those “bit of” teas. There is a bit of malt, a bit of orange, a bit of crusty bread. I’m also tasting cane syrup. I haven’t had cane syrup on years and years, but I’m loving the dark sweet note in this tea. The combination of all the flavors is delicious. It’s something I can see myself thoroughly enjoying as an afternoon tea.

This one is going on my shopping list.

Oh, this is a very nice smooth black tea… It’s light and malty. I taste honey, and bread fresh from the oven. Oh man. One cup is really not enough. I almost want to kickstart it just to get 2-4 oz more of this!

I was just headed to the kitchen to brew up some Fortnum Ceylon/assam blend when the mail arrived with an envelope chock full of Just Organic Tea samples. I brewed this one up and was delighted with the smell, woodsy and really Ceylon like clarity. It doesn’t smell sweet, the tea is a bright orangey color but the taste is a little honey, malt and citrus. The color and taste bring me to a wooded pond where the oak leaves soak and turn the water dark. I sipped down half the cup then added a dab of avocado honey which enhanced a small molasses and large malt taste I was getting. This is a perfect afternoon cup, clear and smooth a good pick me up without hitting you hard with the edge and roughness of many straight blacks. I had always hoped to find a Ceylon blend that was less (dare I say) insipid but not so harsh as the assams, well no blend needed. I’m excited to try the rest of the samples!

Just Blissful Black Oothu is somewhat naturally sweet, certainly a milder black tea. I prefer more mild black teas and this hit the spot.

It’s funny how differently reviews come in for teas, isn’t it? Although I guess things taste different to all of us, otherwise we would all like the same things.

I looked through the other reviews for this tea, and saw one that said it was a bold and hearty tea. I didn’t find that to be the case. I thought it was smooth, nice, not very hearty but still good. It had a pleasant flavor. I didn’t expect much flavor because I didn’t smell much from the leaves (even the wet ones), so I was pleasantly surprised when I drank the cup. I could see where the tea could be considered “blissful” since it wasn’t very strong or very weak, it was just sort of in a zen place.
