52 Tasting Notes
I put this tea in my cup and forgot…its been brewing away but this is such a delightful sweet green it really doesn’t get bitter (just don’t burn it). I had forgotten how much I love it. After my free sample I bought more for myself and my friends. Steeped this long it seems to have stronger cherry and plum notes than I noticed in the past and its a bit less buttery.
Two tasting note in one day and no steepster malfunctions perhaps the whole world is starting to smooth out again? Porbalby not so I’d better just enjoy the tea!
I’ve been so very busy trying to do 4 jobs at once. I used up my old assam from a tea company that’s no longer in business so I tried this one. Its very brisk but rough more harsh tea and less malt than I was hoping. I love a malty assam but I like some smoothness if that makes sense. This is relegated to my second cup of the day. The second cup of black tea is for when I have to work really hard most days 1 black is all it takes. I hope I can find a smoother assam soon. In the mean tiem what this does have its lots of get up and go the brisk and brusqueness of it get my writing and moving instead of dreaming at my desk!
I bought a bulk bag of Harney and Sons Jasmine Dragon Pearl. I received a bag of 5 pearl sachets and 45 of something else. I sipped through 2 cups before realizing this just doesn’t takes right and then looking and smelling to discover the problem. I don’t’ want to order again just for the 1 bag (I am getting a refund but not a replacement and its a 3rd party not H&S) but I like to have the bagged tea handy for afternoons out of my office. The “other tea” has a grassy scent its sour and hay like in the cup with a yellow liquor (I can’t recognize it, maybe its grass clippings)??
This is my happy tea and now..it is no more. Infusions of tea is gone and this is the last cup. What will save me on those sad mentally grey days? Its got tons of malt and a little honey. The liquor is a bit darker brown than brick and it stands up so well to milk.
Flavors: Honey, Malt
Sipdown! I am sleepy and cold, had surprise but challenging company last night then not enough sleep today. I had a cup of my usual but it wasn’t enough so I wanted around and threw whatever I found in the pot and now its working its magic, lifting the fog and filling my palate with scents and tastes of the forest in the sun! Now I must use the awakening to fininsh my work!
I did spend a moment looking at teas to order soon as the cupboard is growing bare of blacks and pu erhs and with fall fogs arriving, I want more of these. I’ve decided to work my way through Mandala’s offerings so I will start to build my order as soon as this work is done!
I like this tea a lot but the first steep seems to have A LOT OF CAFFIENE or is it just me? I needed a boost today so I drank the last (sipdown I suppose) of my free sample! The first steep ahs that great carob Carmel and malt taste the second is more malty not so much carob and I didn’t get much form the third but since I split 1 small sample into 2 different brews I suppose it could be underleafed! Still like this tea a lot and may buy it again. It gave me the boost I was looking for.
1 more steeping left of my no-name assam (I’m sure it had a name but I lost it) then I can replace it with a new assam. This one is rather flat only a little malt note in the front if I add condensed milk. I prefer a really strongly malty assam so next time I’ll be looking for the malt. This one does the trick of clearing the fog and waking me up. Steepster ate a lot of my notes lately, lets see if this rather inane one “sticks”
mushroom and chocolate what could be better? That’s what I am getting from this tea. Its about to be very very hot out but for this moment hot tea is good and puer seems both hot and cooling to me. This sample from the riper sampler mandala sent out. I sent one to my sister too and so across the country we are sipping together. Once the weather cools I’ll be drinking a lot more of this! The head pains are clearing and now I’m ready for my day! Brewed gongfu style.
Flavors: Chocolate, Mushrooms
Oh Paris I’ve missed you! I wish Harney & Sons didn’t use artificial flavorings I can’t taste them I just want them gone. The tea tastes wonderful but I’d prefer all natural. This is my second cup of black tea for the day which is rare but I wanted the soothing vanilla scent with the spicy fruit undertones the brisk somewhat malty tea base is helping too. The aroma has more floral and fruit then I’d like but the flavor delivers a lot of vanilla with some plum and cherry and that’s perfect for me. On a whim I put in some maple syrup this time and that makes it the perfect fall treat. I think it will be fall for a few more minutes before the raging hot winds outside start making it hot inside too!
Flavors: Cherry, Plum, Vanilla
