TTB #16

Yummy! I don’t know much about elderflower, but it seems to taste a bit like prickly pear and a little bit like quince. It gives this green a cool spin. The tea is smooth and a little bit creamy. While it is not particularly complex, I could definitely see this one as being my default-go-to tea in the afternoons!

I had this last Sunday at a girly tearoom, and I thought this was awesome! It smelled so flowery that I thought a flower was blooming in my cup. :) Even bees would love it because it tasted strongly of honey (I was not sure if any honey was added to the tea, though)! A delicate and sweet tea indeed. I was glad that I had chosen it from the menu!

I took a trip to England over the summer and fell in love with elderflower everything, so before I left I snatched up the only elderflower tea I could find—this one.

After a very short steep it’s already a little bitter, but the aftertaste is sweet and floral. I imagine this would be great iced.

A refreshing tea that smells and tastes strongly of elderflower. It brews very light (don’t overbrew or it will go bitter) and is wonderful as a summer drink. Goes well with honey, doesn’t go well with milk.

My first cup of this was hot and really surprised me with how floral it tasted. I drink jasmine tea with food often, so I don’t know why it seemed to clash so. I decided to have it as a stand-alone cup from then on or iced and sweet, and have been enjoying it that way.

Today was an odd day. I got a phone call mid-morning from my nephew, telling me that my sister had died of Covid. Only my brother and myself left now, and I had to call and tell him. It was an odd feeling. (Our eldest brother died decades ago.)

Somehow I feel shocked, numb, but also very quietly peaceful and very aware that I am glad to be alive. The sunshine was especially sweet, the wind chimes were particularly beautiful, and the tea was so keenly cold and sweet and enjoyable. I don’t think I will ever stop associating this tea with how I felt today.

Leafhopper

I’m sorry for your loss.

Mastress Alita

I’m sorry to hear that. We’re here for you!

Courtney

I’m sorry for your loss. Thinking of you.

derk

So sorry, ashmanra. I will put in a good word for you and your family tonight.

mrmopar

Oh Ashmanra, sorry for your loss. I will have you and your family in my prayers.

Michelle

So sorry to hear that. Hopefully when the shock wears off you have some happy times to think about and remember her fondly. Many siblings are the ones who know you best and are the hardest to lose. I’m sure most here would want to console you with a cup of tea, but if you want to tell us about your sister we are listening.

AJRimmer

I’m so sorry ashmanra! <3

ashmanra

Thank you, everyone!

Martin Bednář

I am sorry for your loss! Those news are one of the worst. I remember the tea I had the day I heard that my aunt died. It was Simply the Zest. I haven’t got it since.

ashmanra

I can understand that, Martin. Oddly, it felt like this tea comforted me, and I think that is stamped on it now and I will probably continue to associate elderflower with feeling soothed.

gmathis

Oh, darlin’!

tea-sipper

Just reading your note now, I’m so sorry ashmanra. Will be thinking of you and yours.

ashmanra

Thank you, tea-sipper!

Fortnum & Mason Advent Calendar 2021 – Day 14

OMG a non-black tea!!! :O Don’t get me wrong, I love black tea, but variety is nice.

I’m really enjoying this as an afternoon cuppa. The elderflower is present but not over-the-top, and there’s a slight fruitiness to it that reminds me of lychee a bit? It’s quite sweet and light overall. The base, however, seems to be a gunpowder green tea and it has a quite earthy, mineral flavor with a hint of smoke. So an interesting juxtaposition there… Heaven and Earth, perhaps?

Anyway, it’s a lovely tea, and perfect for a bit of an afternoon relaxation break on a busy day.

Still all black tea for me. Maybe tomorrow…

One of the best flavored green teas I’ve hit in a while. If you tend towards jasmine and osmanthus, you’ll love this

T&C TTB 13/23

I had this tea a few nights ago when all the computers in my house decided not to like Steepsters, every other website worked. I finally have everything packed and ready to ship tomorrow morning for the T&C TTB I just need to catch up on here.

The tea, the tea was lovely and tasted like Spring flowers. The recommended steep time I was given was very short, less than a minute. I’m glad I followed it, the flower taste was not over powering or bitter.

Thank you bluebell for sharing
