Thanks to tea-sipper for this sample! I think the base oolong is a little too minerally for me here. The cherry was nice, but it seemed like the oolong flavor was so much stronger that it was the main thing I tasted. I’d definitely try it on an herbal base!

From the sale a while ago.  This one sounded scrumptious – a cherry oolong and these oolong leaves are DARK.  I’m mainly just grateful that this doesn’t taste like cough syrup cherry.  It does have a bright red cherry flavor.  The brew is scarlet but NOT hibiscus tart.  All points in this teas favor!  However, the first cup does have noticeable amounts of stevia.  The second and third cups lean towards more of  natural, rustic flavor which I can appreciate.  Not as much stevia while still keeping a bit of cherry.  This is nice – and unique to whatever other teas I managed to try from David’s thus far (or there could be dozens of blends like this I don’t know about…)  It’s especially fantastic on a hot day reading out in the yard. :D

This was a reject from what my mother bought the other week, she hates it. Basically it’s a cherry/fruit drink with measly amounts of oolong tea sprinkled throughout. I spent about three minutes trying to pick a decent amount of the oolong out of the pouch so I can get an idea of what it actually tastes like!

Surprisingly, I think they used something that’s very close to a Da Hong Pao. There’s a strong aged wood note alongside a sort of wet stone flavour. It actually does accompany the deep cherry flavour very well. It’s just a shame they don’t include more tea in each pouch, something that seems to be a trend with blends from this company.

Made some excellent iced tea with this though, I think it tastes better that way than hot to be frank. Won’t be buying this in the future, but the flavour is pretty decent.

You’d be hard-pressed to know that there was any oolong in here, or tea for that matter. But it does taste like cherries, kind of a red sourpuss/cherry blaster kind of vibe, but not too tart. Probably a fantastic iced tea. I’d prefer a little more of an actual sour cherry flavour rather than candy sour cherry, so not my favourite but I did resteep it twice, so evidently I did not hate it!

Iced tea!

This was the iced tea “on tap” in our lunch room at work at one point this week, so I poured myself a mug to enjoy with my lunch because I adore this tea and certainly wasn’t going to pass up a chance to have a nice, prebrewed mug of it. Sweet, dense cherry and earthy, grounding beet notes. I was having a rather strongly flavoured BBQ Chicken (well, vegan chicken) dish so a lot of the nuances of flavour were killed by the intense sauce – but the cherry note still popped and held up to the flavours of my food.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
