Chocolate Covered Almond

This is my favourite tea ever and you can’t get it anymore! cries

Decent flavor – I think I’ll try to either steep it a little longer next time or do 5 tsp.

Day 17 of the 2016 advent calendar! One of the new teas from that season, and with a straightforward approach as compared to 2015’s holiday teas. The tea smells well, like chocolate and almonds. I don’t really have much else to comment on, so onto the steep!

Steeped, the tea almost looks like a coffee? I’ll attribute that to the chocolate pieces adding in more dark brown color to the black tea base. The smell of the tea is much less nutty than the dry leaf for some reason, and it mainly smells like a chocolate tea instead. Taste wise, the tea comes off as a black tea mainly, with some chocolate notes and a fairly small bit of nuttiness.

Overall, I’m not disappointed by this tea but it’s not entirely what I expected either. To me, it’s mostly a black tea with chocolate in the background. Not sure if I’d buy this again if it was re-released, since if I want a chocolate tea I might go for something with a bit more oomph to it.

Very delicious tea. It has a strong chocolate aroma, but taste subtle of chocolate. I like to drink this when a chocolate craving kicks in.

HOT: This tea tastes similar to hot chocolate, maybe more of a cookie taste than traditional deep chocolate. There is not as much nuttiness from the almond as I would have expected. I like it much better with cream, on it’s own there is a hint of bitterness that is unexpected from a dessert tea. The cream however draws out some of the almond, and there is an almost waffle-like flavour. I preferred it this way, hot. I think next time i will shave a little extra cocoa in for richness.

ICED: Similar to the hot chocolate blend from davidstea, I steeped this with a little extra chocolate and a splash of milk. the flavour is much milder and more creamy this way, and reminds me of a vanilla frappuccino.

This tea is so good and I’m savoring the last of this tea since I didn’t know about it until it was too late. I really really hope they bring this tea back but in all reality they probably won’t so I will have to be content with savoring what I have. It reminds me of chocolate chip cookies more than a chocolate covered almond.

I really disliked this tea with full cream milk. It had the same issue as English Toffee – smelling divine, but steeped in disappointment. I had varied my steeping time but that did not eradicate the taste of alcohol that permeated the tea.

That is, until I added Silk (0g sugar) almond milk. The almond milk thickened the tea, and perhaps added the almond flavour that it was desperately lacking. It went from unbearable to not bad.

Out of the chocolate black tea blends I have tried, this one is easily my favourite. The tea naturally has a pleasant sweetness to it from the almonds, with the milk chocolate as a lovely base note. The black tea is very smooth, and when combined with the yerba maté, it gives the tea a wonderful toasty body. I’ve often found that chocolate teas taste best with a splash of milk, but this tea is wonderful on its own as well.

Got this from the ‘christmas treats’ sampler. It’s a good chocolate tea with some nutty taste. Chocolate tea isn’t really my thing, but I liked this one.

Made this as a latte earlier this afternoon. It was delicious! Oh my goodness. It was more like a hot chocolate than a tea! So yummy. Wish I had gotten more!
