From DAVIDsTEA

In Costa Rica, “pura vida” means kicking back and enjoying life. And this summery blend of green tea, pineapple, coconut and mango is as chill as it gets.

Ingredients: Pineapple (pineapple, cane sugar, citric acid, sulfites), green tea, apple, coconut, mango (mango, sugar, citric acid, sulfites), chamomile, natural flavouring.

Contains coconut and sulfites.

David’s Tea, a Canadian company, has a delightful approach to Spanish:
‘In Costa Rica, “pura vida” means kicking back and enjoying life.’
When I first saw that, I laughed. A lot. Then I looked it up, and it turns out that Pura Vida is, in fact, the “Hakuna Matata” of Costa Rica.
That’s an actual thing.
Anyway. The tea.
This is a fun, tropical-fruity affair. It mostly tastes like pineapple, mango, and Green Apple Jolly Ranchers. It’s got chamomile in it, too, which is unusual.
HOT ISN’T RECOMMENDED:
I like this tea, but it is not “bae,” as the kids are saying these days. There’s something kind of off about it. I don’t know if it’s the chamomile, or the Sour Apple, or some kind of turned-pineapple funkiness, but there’s an edge to this that’s icky.
TRY IT COLD:
I threw my half-drunk mug in the freezer for a bit to cool it down, thinking it’d be better “iced.” (I was out of ice cubes. This was my solution).
Cold, it’s DELIGHTFUL. It’s somehow sweeter and less bitter. (How does that work? Help me out, science.)
I probably wouldn’t buy it, because it still has a funky Jolly Rancher aftertaste. Still it’s a surprisingly vast improvement.
A nice thing to drink by the pool while reading trash fiction. I mean, uh, the classics. Just me and Gravity’s Rainbow on the Kindle and absolutely nothing written for teenagers.

Lovely summer tea. Tastes like a pina colada.

It’s been a while since I last had this tea – but something made me want to brew a cup of it last week, so I did against my better judgement. I don’t know why I was craving it so much – after taking like four or five good slurps I was already bored with the cup. The coconut and pineapple notes are nice and refreshing, but there’s too much chamomile and the green tea was a bit grassy and drying…

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Picked up a cup of this iced because I had a free tea-of-the-day coupon to use up.

You can taste the green base, but it is slightly sweet and vegetal. It actually goes well with the tropical fruits. The main flavours are candied pineapple and coconut milk. I didn’t like the coconut they used (same as coconut ice-slightly soapy). I actually enjoyed the cup overall, but it wasn’t something I would buy again unless it was free. I do like the chamomile in here. I actually didn’t recognise it until I checked the ingredients list on steepster, but it brought some lemon/citrus and dry grass flavour to the brew.

Dry leaf: Creamy coconut aromas with a hint of mango.

Liqueur: Creamy green and yellow. Smells of raw coconut with a slight hint of mango.

Flavour: Coconut dominates while the ripe mango and chamomile add sweetness. The mouth feel is soft and the aftertaste subtle.

I got this as a free sample when I ordered ME to WE tea online. It smells yummy like fruits and coconut. Iced, it is fantastic. I am going to have to buy some for summer-but just a little bit as my taste buds change and I fall out of love with certain teas-like last years Hard Candy. I loved it back then and just lately I couldn’t finish what I had left because I didn’t enjoy it any more-maybe because it’s a year old or so and the flavoring isn’t as strong? Anyways, this is a very refreshing iced tea-and I didn’t even mind that chamomile is in it because I could barely taste it.
