From DAVIDsTEA

We take French toast very seriously around here. Which is why we created this sweet and buttery cardamom-spiced black tea with a dusting of cinnamon and cane sugar. It’s rich. It’s spicy. And it tastes just like the decadent breakfast of our dreams. Only this is one brunch tea you’ll be craving all day long.

Black tea, cinnamon, lemon peel, coriander seeds, cardamom, coconut sugar, cane sugar, natural and artificial flavouring

I tried this in the Valentine’s Day Sample package it smelled like french toast however when I brewed I was a little disappointed really it really smelled wonderful but kind of tasted bland unmemorable. Its not a bad tea but I don’t think I would buy it, I am glad that it was just a sample!

Im surprised I never really noticed this tea in all the time I’ve shopped at David’s Tea, its really nice. It definitely smells like french toast, and the brewed flavor is very nice as well. I agree with some of the other comments that the cardamom/spice aspect could be a little stronger, I thought there might be just a little more warmth from the spices but otherwise it pretty much lives up to the name on the package. Other than that I get a slight hint of cinnamon kind of taste, some maple/vanilla type sweetness which makes sense for french toast. I really like this tea as a latte. I would re-buy this one again.

Not bad but a little bland. Maybe I needed to steep it longer. I would have liked more cardamon flavor.

I bought this tea because I love the taste of cardamom in my chai tea, so I thought why not give this one a go – plus, it smelt so good in the package. I steeped it for about 10 minutes because I wanted a stronger cardamom taste. Unfortunately, it was pretty bland. I drank it with milk and without. I personally preferred it without milk. I did like it, but didn’t LOVE it.

… and I’m back! Possibly. I can’t guarantee tasting notes won’t be sporadic but I’d really like to remember to actually say something about teas when I drink them, so hello!

This is one of the teas I picked up while in Canada over Christmas, and I’m glad I decided to give it a go. How does it smell just like what my brain thinks breakfast is meant to smell like? Perfectly French toastly goodness. Not a ton of cardamom, though – I notice it more when I manage to get one of the cardamom pods in that spoonful of tea leaves, but it’s more of a subtle backnote than the only flavour going on, and I think that it’s a spice well-suited to that role. Yeah. This is a good ’un.

SO GOOD! Really does taste like french toast. I don’t find the cardamom overpowering at all either. I added just a bit of milk with the first steep since it already has cane sugar, then for the second I added milk and a tiny bit of sugar. I think maple syrup would be nice as well. The creamy bread taste (never thought I’d get that in a tea lol) with the milk reminds me of a tea latte (without using a huge amount of tea – SCORE!). I used 1.5 perfect spoons and got two decent steeps in a large mug. My favourite from DavidsTea so far!

Good. Added milk. Won’t add next time to see if it’s better.

Ooh, I like this one! It definitely does remind me of French toast, and it has a nice balance of spice in it. (No cloves, thank you very much!) Very cozy and warm. I think it would probably be good with a little milk in it, too, although since I only had a sample, I haven’t tried it that way. I’ll definitely be looking into getting some more of this!

I’ve been trying to finish many of the teas in my overcrowded tea shelf so haven’t been in much of a buying mode. However, I was curious about this one. Curious enough to go to the local David’s Tea to get some. As is always the case with me, I go in for one thing and leave with six things. I’ll get around to writing about those other teas eventually, but need to write about this one now, since I just polished off the last of a 4 ounce bag. I really love cardamom, it’s my favorite spice when I make my own chai, so that was a slam dunk. That said, this isn’t really chai but more of a spiced black. Very pleasant, sweet and great with milk. Perfect for colder weather. Not happy about sugar being in there, though. I would much rather add my own if I choose. It’s a solid flavored black and I enjoyed it a lot, but I’m not looking to replenish anytime soon. Too many other spiced blacks to get to in my stash!

It snowed Friday morning and it snowed today. It will snow again on Tuesday and on Thursday. Perfect weatehr for tea. I went diving in my tea drawer for something warm and comforting and came up with this. Boy, this one is old. The flavor may have been a little muted by age, but it is still a delightful tea. I have several new chais to try, but I feel like I should drink up some of these older teas before opening a new pouch. Now that summer is really over (probably) I will be able to enjoy hot tea in the afternoon and evening.
