Y’know what this smells like to me? Shahi tukra. Sugary sweet french toast with spicy cardamom. I made it one time from an allrecipes entry, while looking for deserts with cardamom. It turned out delicious (though probably not at all accurate) and definitely smelt like this.

I had a cup of this yesterday as well while playing videogames. A good amount of cardamom, that’s really nicely smoothed out by the sweetness. Tastes almost syrupy, and caramelized.

Well, this was a lesson in don’t judge a tea by its name, or even necessarily by its smell. I initially passed this over, as it struck me as a slightly more savoury tea, and I’m not generally drawn to those. I was convinced to try it, however, when countless people were raving about it and recommended it highly, so I got some on my way home from work this morning to reward myself for going in for a few hours on a Saturday.

And my faith in my ability to like tea has been restored. I doctored it up with some milk and sugar because this tea positively begs for it, and it really does taste like a thick slice of sweet French toast with a bit of savoury cardamom. Thankfully, I don’t get the coriander, because I think that would be gross in a tea. I love the way it smells while it’s brewing, too—sort of like baby oil but a nicer, drinkable version (seriously guys, think about baby oil while this steeps next time and you’ll smell what I mean). Such an innocent, comforting smell. Mmm I already want more.

While I was at DT today, I also picked up 100 g of banana nut bread because nom, and couldn’t resist the santa’s secret white chocolate bar. There aren’t nearly enough white mint chocolate bars in this world as far as I’m concerned, so I’m willing to chance it, even if it means I’ll crunch down on actual tea leaves (someone seriously needs to tell dt to sort that issue out).

So yup, you done good, dt! you done good!

I went into my local DAVIDsTEA this afternoon (I love being able to say that! I’m so happy my city finally got a DAVIDsTEA.) and ordered this as a latte. It tasted like every other tea latté I’ve ever had (warm milk) until it cooled down. Then it was like being punched in the face with a piece of french toast. I couldn’t get over how strong and completely on point the flavour was. I’m definitely going to be picking up a bag before the season is over.

Mmm I like this tea. This will not be my detailed note on it as I’m at work and poured it out of my travel mug, so not the best conditions, but darn this tea truly does have a bread-like, french toast-esque flavor!! Yum yum, cinnamon, that bread-dipped-in-egg french toast sweetness, very impressed. Off to a good start with this year’s winter collection.

French toast all day! Really lives up to it’s name. This will be a dessert tea for me, it’s sweet, I drink this plain and it’s very flavorful on it’s own.

Not-so-morning pseudo-latte with fat-free creamer—and a dash of hyphens and dashes—to try to figure out if I really should take advantage of the last day of double the points. I’m tempted to grab more of this and snag a couple bars of the Cardamom French Toast chocolate if still in store. Hmm. This is so good with or without milk/cream and I have about 30g left. Perhaps I should.

I’m sick, with I’m guessing a cold, for the first time since February 2013. That was an amazing streak, if you ask me! The past how many times were just false alarms or allergies. So this cold is making me feel a little too lazy and unmotivated to go out. But tea is good for dat sickness. Decisions, decisions.

So I really enjoyed this tea black, but it seemed like a latte kind of day and I figured this would make an okay latte.

This does indeed make an okay latte. In fact this makes the best latte I have ever had! If I ever drink this black again I will be surprised because this makes such a good latte! Take the delicious taste of this black and then imagine it sweeter, fluffier, and with English cream drizzled all over it. That is this tea as a latte, and it is magical. That said, it is quite sweet even without anything added to it, so you might want to save it for dessert. But YUM! If I could give this more than 100, I would.

Ok, this is the tea that brings me out of Steepster lurkdom and motivated me to sign up for an account. It is a new tea from the DAVIDsTEA Winter Collection 2015 released today. It is quite possibly my favorite tea EVER, and definitely my favourite tea that I’ve ever tried from DAVIDsTEA.

It is amazing in a tea latte – I steeped 3 tsp in 1/2 cup boiling water, then warmed up 1/2 cup milk and frothed it in my Bodum french press. Then I mixed the 2 with a tiny bit of honey = heaven!!!

It is perfect – a warm bakery scent that is not too sweet, not too nutty, not too spicy, not too bitter. Cozy in a cup!!

Am I a weenie for rating my first tea on here 100? Probably. Do I care because this tea is so amazing? Nope!!
