The smell of this tea is delightful. It smells exactly like a reese peanut butter cup…however, it does not taste much like one. I think either I need to steep it in a smaller cup or David’s Tea should make it more flavorful. I used more tea than called for yet it was still weak. I truly wanted to love this tea. I will try it again, in a smaller mug and see how that goes.

Ugh! It’s a shame that a tea can smell so great and taste so awful. The apple flavour was really overwhelming in this tea. I tried mixing it with everything imaginable in order to improve the flavour, and at the advice of Michelle at One More Steep, I finally just mixed it with hot chocolate mix in order to finish off the rest of my skinny tin.

I’m back on steepster after a many-year hiatus, with an expanded tea knowledge and a newly stocked cupboard :D

This summer I went on an herbal kick. I also worked near a David’s Tea, which explains all the colorful canisters and unusual tea names in there. Peanut butter cup is among the most unusual, and it’s probably my favorite of my summer/fall tea-buying binge.

I’m not the first to say it—but there are no peanuts, and you would never know. If you’re looking for “quality” and “organic” this isn’t it, but it’s fun. At least smell the leaves, which genuinely smells like a peanut butter cup. It’s a mix of apple, almond, and chocolate, but you’d swear that you could eat it right out of the tin. (I’m smelling my tin now again. It’s addictive.)

The chocolate doesn’t come through as strongly when you steep it, but I’m not complaining. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate tea. But I am a huge fan of peanut butter, which explains why I restepped a giant mug of this one tonight. It’s deceiving—you do taste a hint of apple, but the scent of (nonexistent) peanut butter almost makes you think you’re drinking candy. Almost. This, at least, doesn’t leave me with the inevitable regret of consuming too much.

This is one of my favorite teas to smell and taste. You wouldn’t believe there are zero peanuts in it, but it smells so much like a reeses peanut butter cup. Bonus: it’s not sweet, if it is, it’s just mild enough to count. Such a delight!

This one has a great peanut flavor. The chocolate is muted, however, like a very unbalanced peanut butter cup. I think I like it best with milk and sugar (I’m doing that a lot lately…) – smooth and creamy with a pop of salty peanuts at the end of the sip.

This one is so interesting. Peanut butter is such an unusual flavour profile for tea that I had to grab a sample when it came out. It smells incredible – very authentically peanutty, impressively so for a tea that contains no peanuts. But I was kind of expecting this to be terrible. My partner tried a cup and wasn’t into it, and it just seemed so likely that this would be a miss. I was anticipating watery and weak.

My first sip I got a lot of tart apple and was kind of meh about it. But I’m actually very impressed with how full-mouth and creamy the peanut flavour is. It lingers strongly on the palate after the sip is over and tastes like actual peanuts.

I’m not getting more than the faintest impression of chocolate here, so I’d say that “peanut butter cup” is a bit of a misnomer – more like apple slices with peanut butter, but I like it.

I used up my whole sample to make this cup, but I’d drink it again if it landed in my cupboard, though I probably won’t go out of my way to find any.

So I thought I’d give this one another whirl this afternoon and, well, I’m disappointed again.
It smells so wonderful. As I opened the pouch and was hit with the pure smell of chocolate peanut butter cups, and the brew smelled grand as well.
But it tastes flat and a little sour. Why, peanut butter cup, why? What happened to you? Where is my rich and fudgy treat?
Oh well.

I suggest adding a bit of Chocolate Macaroon.

Rosehips

That is an excellent suggestion!

I’m not a fan of this tea, and I ended up giving half of it away to someone who enjoyed it much more than me. The smell is straight up peanut butter cup, it’s sweet but not too sweet, but it’s just not my cup of tea to have a tea that smell like my toasts. I would not repurchase, but if you are a fan of peanut, and love sweet peanut or chocolate tea, this might be for you!

Smells and taste like a peanut butter cup! I don’t add sugar to my tea so my first cup of this is a little lacking in true peanut butter cup flavor (the sugar REALLY brings out the flavor). But even without sugar this is a great tea. I taste more peanut butter and almond than chocolate. Would totally buy this again.
