From DAVIDsTEA

A winning pear

There’s nothing more comforting than a perfectly ripe pear. And this deliciously delicate blend captures all the flavour and aroma of sweet, refreshing bosc pear at its peak. With a hint of spice and a super-healthy base of rooibos, it’s equally at home on the breakfast table or alongside your favourite dessert. Try it in your favourite morning oatmeal, or use it to poach fresh fruits and serve over vanilla ice cream. It’s your new secret ingredient.

I like this tea for its smooth, robust flavour and spicy scent. It tastes sweet to me, and I often have it as my “I don’t want to eat before bed but need something” treat. Heavy cinnamon flavour – if you’re not a fan, I wouldn’t recommend.

I tried this tea initially in the summer – I think it was one of the DT tea-off teas (the other one won, I believe) I stocked-up the next day and made a special trip to my closest store when I realized I couldn’t purchase it online and it would never be sold in stores again (or so they say…)

Tonight I served it hot with milk – this would make an excellent tea latte.

Absolutely amazing! I only had enough of it for one large iced tea, and I definitely wish that it was still available to buy more of it.

Oh man. I hope this is the tea they bring back. It’s even better steeped at home, so thank you SO much VariaTea for sharing with me. I’m kind of irritated that my local DT wouldn’t sell any to me – I’ve gathered by asking about things on the DT Facebook page that they were allowed to sell them… and also the new mystery tea that they had a naming contest for. Always great when store employees don’t know what’s supposed to happen.

But yes. This is perfect pear flavour in tea form. PERFECT. It smells, and tastes like a poached pear with a hint of cinnamon. It’s really quite incredibly delicious. And quite frankly, would be The pear tea I’ve wanted. (Thank you thank you for using green rooibos instead of red or a terrible green tea base). The worst part of this, though, is that I recall also quite liking the other tea they offered up (which I’ll try again later also thanks to VariaTea). Why couldn’t they just give us both instead of releasing other, crappier teas?

Thank you VariaTEA for the sample! I honestly don’t know why I waited so long to try it when I was so damn excited about it in the first place (even before you sent it off). To be fair though, I get excited about pear anything. They could make “Pear Scented Bacon” and I’d be all over that, despite not eating meat…

I made my first cup (I have leaf left for at least one more) in a timolino; it was definitely very good, and I drank it super quickly. I kinda wish I hadn’t though, because chugging it didn’t allow for much time to be observant of the flavours. It was definitely sweeter, but in the way actual fruit is, and not in a super sugary kind of way. The pear flavour was good; definitely less a “fresh” pear and totally more a cooked/poached pear like that name suggests it should be. I want to say kinda like a Bosc Pear (4413), but I’d have to drink it again to really be sure of that. Rooibos base played well with the fruit; and there was a nice cinnamon flavour in here floating lightly along with the pear. Not over the top; just a nice accent.

I really hope this is the one that DT brings back as a ToTM as part of that contest/competition – I’d buy some more, for sure.

Kittenna

Yes, I’d agree with Bosc pear, for sure.

Plunkybug

Mmmm, pear. Love that you threw in the number for it in your store. :)

Roswell Strange

That’s even the specific code for Bosc Pears; 4409 is Bartlett, 3118 is Stark Red, 4413 is Bosc, and 4407 is Asian Pears/Apples :P

Kittenna

Go go memory! I’d probably have made flash cards, haha. I used to do that ALL the time.

Ha ha ha!

I brewed this short and on a delicate heat today. The resulting brew was nice and heavy on the pear and spice flavours, and delightfully light on the rooibos base notes. Initially, the flavour was very spiced based and warming but, as the tea cooled, the pear notes became more and more apparent.

Overall, I was really impressed with this tea. I found it naturally sweet and a nice light blend. I could see myself drinking a lot of this one!

As soon as I smelt this tea, I knew I had to try it, and I was not disappointed! The pear is light and a little sweet, with a hint of spice – a great treat anytime, any mood! So yummy!

Alright so I am cheating on my clean eating challenge but I like tea and so I am going to drink it…especially when DAVIDs has a tea-off between two new flavors. I tried both in store and this was certainly the one I preferred of the two since they definitely captured the flavors of poached pear. There is a sweet pear flavor drizzled with cinnamon goodness. It’s a tasty, tasty treat.
