I bought a little bit of this at the beginning of November to try. Another one I had experienced before but wasn’t super crazy about. However now I am craving it all the time like crazy, good thing it is in the tea for the holiday box!

I always thought I liked Read My lips better because it has chocolate. I’ve decided this one has redeeming qualities too, it is minty and relaxing, but black and energizing. If brewed properly it has this comforting candycane sweetness that I cannot get enough of because it is the holidays.

Shmiracles

this really is one of my current favorites. i’m craving it like crazy too! i feel like it’s nothing fancy, but it still has a lot of soul.

SO…I was at Davids again today, with my friend. She opted for the Merry Cranberry, and since I know I don’t like Sleigh Ride that much, I opted to try Santa’s Secret. I’ve always been a bit leery of mint teas, because I tend to find them either too medicinal, or I find them too cooling and refreshing to drink in winter (except for medicinally). But this tea, as a black base, holds the mint in balance, I think. It feels warming but refreshing, but not in a BRRR sort of way. Maybe the soy milk added then zen-like balance, I dunno.

I think I can say, I actually kinda like this. For a minty tea. I don’t know if I will get this one or not, but I think I might get some while it is available, and it will be a nice alternate to the very warming and comforting teas I have like Chocolate Orange or Alpine Punch, or one of the seasonal chai blends. I think that there could be a place for this on my tea wall.

Kittenna

I generally dislike minty teas but this one worked for me too!

Plunkybug

Yes, exactly. Something about it is very balanced and everything.

Holiday tea #1 An unintentional back log of three holiday teas starts now!

Momo sent this a while back for a sale – thank you! I’ve had some before this cup, I’m just making a tasting note for it now. I love this one! It’s a sturdy black tea base with enough mint to be nice (though it doesn’t look like there is much mint in the mix.) I love the tiny candy cane sprinkles! I’m not sure if the candy canes are actually mint. I thought that was the reason for a slight creamy flavor, but looking in the infuser it doesn’t seem like they melt very much. The creamy flavor is my favorite part of this tea! I seem to like this black base more than some others from David’s. It also says “spices” on the bag but there only seems to be mint… I wish I knew what kind of spices were supposed to be here, since it doesn’t taste it.

This tea is literally my favorite Christmas tea besides Coffee cake!! SO I got this as a latte with agave and soyamilk and it tasted like I was drinking a minty tea latte drink (as it should) I am obsessed with this tea!!

~~Ok I usually don’t buy loose leaf tea but since this tea is sooo amazing I’ll have to be sure to buy some before they discontinue it!! Now that just shows how awesome this tea is, soooo worth it!

On the 12th day of Christmas Sare sent to me, this tea.

I’m a little late on this, but I have been spending a lot of time with my girls and family while I have time off work.

So I made a whole pot today in my new tea pot, I also got some of this from my cousin.

I was sprised not to see vanilla in the ingredients list, I found it to be creamy & sweet. Lightly minty & 7 delicious. This a really nice holiday tea, but I would probably drink it all year long.

I went to the other David’s Tea in Manhattan on 66th and 3rd to pick up a few more samples of stuff. I must say, I like the staff at Bleecker better. They seem so much more energetic. Then again, they had opened so recently at the time so maybe it’s just new guy energy. By now, the employees should be a little more jaded. haha I gotta go back to Bleecker and see how energetic they still are. :)

I also sampled Love Tea #7 while I was there, but I’m not going to write a review since it was obviously over brewed, bitter and astringent. I mentioned this to the person helping me, but she still gave a sample of it to someone who walked in later. hm…

Anyways! Late to the party, but I got some of Santa’s Secret since so many of you out there profess so much love for it. This is pretty tasty! I’m finding that I like what David’s tea does with mint. There’s also a sweetness dessert-y thing going on. Maybe like a vanilla mint pudding. And while I don’t much like black tea, I can appreciate the flavors here. They should make a decaf version!

Bonnie

This is comfort tea in a cup on a cold snowy day. One of my favorite dessert minty ones from David’s. Hope you grow to like it more. This makes a grand Latte.

Ninavampi

The sweetnes of it reminds me of cotton candy!

Tasty and comforting as ever. It makes me wish it were still the holidays, but almost glad it’s still snowy. Still the only mint tea I’ve found that I like! I love the creamy quality it’s got going on.

I went to see an old friend tonight. She offered me tea and said “you know the options.” I tried to refrain from scrunching my nose up at the grocery store green tea bags I know she’s had in the cupboard for years. But then she surprised me and said “I also have this awesome peppermint one from DavidsTea.” I grew up with this girl and also lived with her for two years and have never seen her use loose-leaf tea. But she offered me Santa’s Secret! Amazing! Thanks, DavidsTea, for opening an Annex Toronto location and enlightening my peers.

Bittersweet Sipdown (107)

I LOVE this tea. I got a sample of it from shmiracles last month and it was definitely my favourite out of all the teas! So it is a sad sipdown because I definitely want more.
Buuuut GUESS WHO JUST GOT ACCEPTED INTO THE DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM!?
You remember that interview I had on Wednesday? Yep, well I got the job :) Not a role that I necessarily wanted, but it is Disney and luckily I still get credit for it sooo DISNEY HERE I COME. I got the role as a Vacation Planner, but I definitely wanted something to do with lodging, not the parks itself, but hey. I’ll take it!
I can either choose to start in May or June. Dude I don’t even know. Both dates are terrible because I’m still in school then so… oh I’ll figure it out later. BUT YES. DISNEY.

VariaTEA

Congrats!! That is awesome :)

And Santa’s Secret is available on DAVIDs web specials right now.

jump62359

Thank you!
But 250g though? I don’t know if on the Canadian site there’s an option for smaller ones, but ahh if I had the money I’d totally go for it!

VariaTEA

No, 250 g is the only option and I agree it is quite a bit. Just thought I would mention it in case you really wanted to stock up :P.

jump62359

Heheh thanks :) I saw way long ago that they had the smaller tins and I was SO going to buy it! But they were already sold out :(
If I had an income, oh I would have already gotten that big pack. But looks like I’ll just have to wait it out!

((I know this is terrible, but I’m really excited to start working for Disney because that means I’ll get paid and that means MONEY FOR TEA.))

__Morgana__

Congrats! When you wish upon a star and all that. :-)

carol who

Yeah for you! You got your foot in the door and that’s where all the magic starts! Best wishes!

jump62359

A dream is a wish my heart makes, and yep. I’ve been dreaming about the DCP ever since my previous program ended :)
And actually, this is my second job with Disney! I was fortunate enough to participate in the same program, but in Walt Disney World. The program that I got accepted into is the one for California so I could easily commute :)

I don’t know if it’s just that I’m sick, but maybe not because Kelly thought the same, but this is a really bland/weak tea. The candycanes are still charming, though.

The cats dipped their noses in this and sneezed and I can’t say I was too heartbroken to pour it out. :/ Weirdly, it was the xmas one I was most excited about! Enjoyed Sleigh Ride last night much more, but we’ll see how that one goes for the second cup.

Crowkettle

Teach me how to enjoy Sleigh Ride! :P
But I can honestly see how you would find this weak, too. The black tea isn’t there and it’s mostly vanilla-something with a pinch of peppermint.

TeaLady441

Aww. Too bad you guys didn’t care for it. I liked it more than Sleigh Ride, but I wanted something sweet and lightly minty.

Ozli

Yeah, I don’t tend to go for anything LIGHTLY mint. :P But I actually had it again today when I was intending to make Sleigh Ride (unmarked baggies!!) and liked it more this time. Not MUCH more, though. :P

CrowKettle, I’ll have to have it again so I remember what I liked! ;)

Crowkettle

If you enjoy Baileys, this, along with Read My Lips (which tastes/smells like after eights)are somewhat improved by the addition imo :) I don’t know if it helps bring out the mint though.

Ozli

I do enjoy Baileys!! But it fights back. :P Read My Lips sounds great! (Now that I’m not afraid of chocolate in my tea anymore – at least in loose leaf, anyway.)
