I like Celestial Seasonings holiday teas a lot, but not this one. Well, not as much as the others. I don’t tend to like spice in my tea, though.

I read other reviews before steeping this one, and left the bag in for a good ten minutes. Next time, I’ll steep it less, and see if I can tone down that “OMG! SPICY!” thing that is going on here.It was okaaaayyy without additions, but I thought I’d “fix” it by adding milk and sugar. Um, no. I think I made it worse. (Although, I’d be interested to see what would have happened if I had just added milk, and no sugar.) Oh, and I agree with the other review that says this one smells better than it tastes. I was sooooo excited when I opened the box.

All in all, I wish I had spent my money on hoarding away another box or two of Candy Cane Lane instead of taking a chance on this one when I found them on clearance last night.

Eh. I bought this tea in my efforts to try all the holiday CS teas (except Sweet Harvest Pumpkin, because pumpkin tea doesn’t appeal to me and I don’t like stevia). I like gingerbread, but I know that dessert teas that try to mimic sweets are never as satisfying as the real thing.
This didn’t taste like gingerbread to me at all. It tasted like cinnamon. A LOT of cinnamon. It tasted sharp and dry. I didn’t really even taste much ginger in this at all, which sucks because I actually really like ginger in pretty much anything else— Thai food, sushi, Bengali/Indian food, and, yes, gingerbread. However, I didn’t sweeten this because I was actually trying some of cartomancer’s cup, and he hardly ever wants sweetener in his cup. To the tea’s credit, cartomancer, his mother, and his grandmother all seem to like it, so I decided not to just dole out a bad rating when my experience showed that 3 out of 4 people who tried it liked it. His mother had it once plain and once with sugar and milk. Maybe I’ll give it another try with some sugar and milk so I can give it a real rating. I think the cinnamon was just too intense for me, though, so I doubt I’ll try it again. I think I’ll just give the three other boxes I ordered to cartomancer.

This tea is fine. It smells wonderful and needs a long steep for the flavour to come through. It’s not the greatest on its own, but i can imagine it’d be more than fine steeped directly in warm milk.

So amazing. I need all of the boxes of this. It tastes just like fresh gingerbread cookies and doesn’t need much in the way of sweetening. I put a tiny bit of honey in. So, so good, and not caffeinated, so I can drink it as late as I please.

Ginger is my favorite spice, and so when I saw this in the shop last night, I had to get it, even though I’m trying to move to loose leaf rather than bagged tea. (And two other boxes came home too, but we’ll not speak of that. )

Once I removed the plastic, I was surprised that the the scent was so.. weak. Once brewed, the spice scent still had less ginger than expected, but was definitely better than just the smell of the tea bags.

Flavor-wise, it’s definitely a cookie flavor, and the tea tastes like a mild gingerbread cookie. The ginger doesn’t have a bite to it, and you can taste a few of the other spices.

I am enjoying this tea, but likely won’t buy another box – I prefer my flavors bold, and this is very mellow. But, it’s good, and if you like spice tea and mild gingerbread cookies, this is good stuff!

My boyfriend and I finished off the box today, so I guess I’ll be waiting until Christmas time to get more.

This tea tastes like ginger but without the bite. I can also taste some cinnamon in there and it’s slightly sweet in a comforting way.

Yummy and gingerbready. Good with oatmeal and for something a little sweet in the evening since it has no caffeine.

I love Celestial Seasonings’ holiday teas. I drink this one when I’m feeling cold because it has such a warming effect.
