Another tea from postcrossing, same envelope as Thin mints tea. I don’t recall drinking eggnog ever in my life. And I don’t really think I miss it.

Anyway, this is certainly a festive blend, as many of you were/are drinking it during the holidays.

But my impressions about this tea? Well, it is a bit weird in aroma when dry, same as Thin Mints; I guess it is only because I am not familiar with those flavours.

Taste was very thick, vanilla-like, creamy and eggnog like I think. Maybe a bit unpleasant and boozy.

Overall, it was a nice experience, but again, I won’t need this in my cupboard.

By the way you describe the taste of the tea, I think they really made a true to the real taste tea! I´m not a fan of eggnog either, in last year´s advent calender I had a blend named like that and I left it last for that reason ;-)

Martin Bednář

I think you are right, it is pretty well made Eggnog flavoured tea. It was nice, but not my favourite taste.

Mastress Alita

I’ve never had eggnog either, Martin!

Leafhopper

I’m also not an eggnog fan. I love the spices, but the texture doesn’t agree with me.

Happy to hear I am not the only one who don’t like/didn’t had eggonog :)

2020 Advent Swap – Day 2

My sister gifted this to me and I thought this would be a great way to kick off the Christmas season. It’s sure to put you in a holiday mood!

This tea has been on my wishlist for quite some time, but I’ve never been able to find it locally. As such, I was excited to see it as my second advent tea from Devon Bartholomew this morning. There is a slight hint of cinnamon as I open the package, and the smell of cream (or maybe it’s just a sense of creaminess) is front and center. While steeping, the aroma quickly changes to that of a hot sugar cookie. I think this is everything I expected and wanted from Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride by Celestial Seasonings.

When I think of eggnog, my first thought is of nutmeg. I don’t taste or smell nutmeg here, which would be a bit disappointing if I really wanted that eggnog flavor to come through. However, coming to it without any of those expectations leaves me feeling pretty happy with this cup. If I’d thought of it in the beginning, I might have grated a bit of fresh nutmeg over the top. Perhaps if I ever buy a box of my own, I’ll give that a try. As it cools, I taste caramel and still a bit of that cookie flavor too. Overall, this is such a flavorful and festive tea for the holidays.

I remember really liking this tea when I first tried it. However, this cup just did not taste right. Not really sure how to describe it other than ‘off’. It might be because it’s rather old, so I hesitate to leave a numerical rating. I’ll have to buy a fresh box and reassess.

Saw this on amazon fresh and grabbed a box of it because I wanted to re-try it. I’m not sure if they changed the tea or just the packaging. I remember liking it a lot more in the past. It wasn’t as egg-noggy as I remembered it being and leaned more towards cinnamon.

Lupiressmoon

Yikes. Eggnog and tea. Hmmm that would be daring for me!

Sakura Sushi

I hope this is not true for me! I love this flavor – one of my tea guilty pleasures. Saw it in the supermarket and snagged a box, but haven’t tried it yet. I really hope it tastes as good as I remember it!

gmathis

This used to be a favorite for me — I need to yank out the bags I still have and enjoy them now. If I remember correctly, milk helps.

Kaylee

This is one of my seasonal grocery store favorites too! I think they just changed the box, not the ingredients, but I liked the cutesy old box better.

tea-sipper

DEF one of my seasonal “grocery store” teas. I hope they didn’t change the recipe!

Lexie Aleah

I hadn’t had it in years so it’s probably just my opinion of it that has changed somewhat.

Sipdown!

Great green rooibos base, creamy rum and spices (finally, an eggnog tea with nutmeg in it). Really flavourful, especially for a bagged tea.

Yesterday morning started with gifts and an Eggnog tea showdown – this vs. Tea Guy’s Eggnog. This one, flavor wise, was the clear winner in my book. It tastes "eggs"actly like eggnog and with a bit of cream, is on point. However, the ingredients list only lists “Eggnog flavoring” for this tea – so in the spirit of tea blending, Tea Guys definitely wins but this the best Eggnog flavored tea I’ve had in this eggnog tea journey thus far.

Where did you get this?

taipwnsu

I picked it up from the grocery store (ShopRite) but you can get a bunch from their website and Amazon stocks it. I’m not sure how/if ordering and shipping to Canada would work though.

Thanks to Albertocanfly I get to try this tea I’ve been dying to try! Apparently it’s like in every store around the holiday season but the ones which I go into xD
no idea why…
It’s kinda weird-haha!
Wasn’t expecting too much because I’ve had an awful experience with Bigelow, their tea just tastes bad to me.
But this one surprised me!
The dry leaf smell did remind me of egg nog.
Couldn’t focus much on the steeping aroma because I got my order from DavidsTea and only 1/4th of it was right…so I was in a state of unbelief because the packing slip was right but they sent me a tea I didn’t even add to my cart ever. Ughh sometimes that company….
I think I’m the only one who has bad experiences with them ever, that’s what It feels like at least.
So I didn’t focus on the flavors too much because I was busy writing them an annoyed email.
This tea does remind me of egg nog, but I think that DTT Winter Nog reminds me of it more just because the cinnamon isn’t as over-powering. This one is good but not something I would buy. Super happy I got to try it though! And thank you, Albertocanfly for sending me more than one of those tea bags because hopefully next time I won’t have to be so distracted by having to email a company for screwing up the simplest of orders. xD But really, thank you, Albertocanfly! :D

(60 = Would drink again if that’s what I had lying around.)

A couple years ago I was a big fan of dessert-flavored teas (anything with vanilla, really). I loved this one so much that I stocked up on extra boxes before it disappeared from the store. Sometime after that my tastes changed, though.

So the only reason I decided to try this out again was to log it so I’d remember why I did (or did not) like it and would (or not not) buy it again if the opportunity came up.

Opening the package I was hit with an overwhelming (almost nauseating) eggnoggy scent. However, the tea itself isn’t bad. It’s a generic black tea with a sweet aftertaste. Eggnog lovers would probably go wild over it. Me, I might buy it again next winter if I see it, but I won’t stock up again.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Eggnog and black tea lovers.

COMMUTER NOTES: Individual bags. Black tea, so it might overbrew bitter.

The endless cold that has been January has gotten into my very bones, and it feels like I can’t wear enough layers of clothing or turn the heat up high enough. So that means it’s the perfect time for this tea! It’s not a fancy brand, it’s a bagged tea, but it will get me through the rest of the hideous winter. With low fat milk (of course), it’s super creamy, the spices are perfect, well-balanced, and makes it taste almost like a baked good. Been drinking this for the past three winters, and when I couldn’t find it locally, I got online and ordered that stuff! That’s how much I love this tea. Truthfully, I haven’t tried any other eggnog flavored tea, so no comparison notes, but when I’m this contented, I’m not that motivated to try another.

I was given this tea along with about 12 others by one of my best friends who is trying to get me more into teas that aren’t earl grey or English breakfast tea. I definitely feel like I’ve found my new favorite holiday tea, and starting off my new teaventure on such a good note has me really excited for the other teas she gave me. I just finished my first cup and I’m about to go make another, it’s so good!
