From Adagio Teas

A native of the Mediterranean, peppermint leaves were often used to crown luminaries in ancient Greece and Rome. It continues to be revered for its cooling, crisp aroma, deeply refreshing flavor, and smooth finish. If you have yet to try gourmet peppermint tea, made from just pure peppermint (no added oils or sweeteners), you’ll be pleasantly surprised by its superior flavor.

It happened… My body finally gave into the virus that was threatening to give it a cold. I am so angry at it! It hit so bad that I actually had to stay home from work. It is awful. I have spent my day in bed sneezing and blowing my nose, dealing with a fever, and worst of all with no appetite… That means, I have no yearning for food or tea! It is pretty terrible to be home with all my tea and not want to drink any of it!

Finally I got my self to go eat something and made myself a HUGE cup of this tea and iced it. I didn’t want to drink anything hot… Just iced! It tasted spectacular! It even cleared my sinuses enough so that I could taste my food! :)

This is possibly the best peppermint I have ever had. I am in love with it! Sadly, I do tend to drink it when I am sick, so it reminds me of feeling icky… But I still drink it when I am healthy from time to time and it is great.

It has enough of a kick to it that it leaves you feeling cleansed and refreshed, but still sweet enough that it can be a tasty anytime drink. I especially like it sweetened. Yum yum yum…

It is also really great to mix with Adagio’s Vanilla Black. The resulting blend is the best candy cane flavored tea ever! You have to try it for yourself to believe it! Trust me, it is worth it!

I probably have the biggest headache ever because I’m thinking of what I should get on my next David’s order and I CAN’T DECIDE. I’ve been adding and taking out so many things from my shopping cart and I just don’t know what to get.
Either I get just $2 under free shipping, or I end up with freakin $80 worth of stuff.
I DON’T HAVE A JOB AND I’M A CHEAPO COLLEGE STUDENT AND THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING.
I don’t know what to get and what not to get. I know three things for SURE but like the final tea to get me to free shipping? I don’t knoowwww.
If only I bathed in money, then this decision wouldn’t be difficult!

But yes. Adagio. Peppermint to heal my headache. I really shouldn’t be putting all this stress over tea at 1am hahaha welcome to my life.

So. I took out a tea that I was all ehh I can survive without it. I’m buying Buttered Rum for my friend because she said she really wanted it, I’m getting myself that Matcha Chocolate bar because CHOCOLATE and FINALLY getting my Timolino! I just need $8.50 left to get free shipping and I seriously can’t decide, I really REALLY can’t. I’ve decided to just buy myself a gift card to reach free shipping so I CAN USE IT ON MY NEXT DAVID’S ORDER. YEAH? SOUND GOOD? IT SOUNDS GREAT TO ME.
dude I need to sleep wow ignore me.

There’s only one remedy to a tea headache: fill your cart as much as you can, click the “order now” button. It works, I have tried. The headache goes away, but is quickly being replaced by a terrible «OMG WHAT HAVE I JUST DONE» feeling.
My advice: Stick to the headache…your budget will thank you later, lol!

Shmiracles

yay timolino!

keychange

Woohoo timolino!

Shmiracles

also, i DEFINITELY don’t want to necessarily encourage you to buy tea you can’t afford…but i will say that for me, no matter how apprehensive i am about clicking ‘order now’, when all is said and done i never regret it.

in a way, tea kinda keeps me grounded, so i tend to be more responsible and honest in other areas of my life. i know it sounds maybe a little dramatic that a silly thing like tea could be so calm & comforting? but meh. i’m inspired at the moment :) (ie jazzed up on caffeine!!!haha)

also, swaps tend to make any cost of buying tea pay off more than DOUBLE if you ask me. …in the end i have the most valuable awesomesauce from the experience = an impressive tea variety and heart-warming community kinship that i couldn’t really get ANY other way.

Shmiracles

basically, BUY ALL THE TEAAA! and the Chocolate. definitely buy all the chocolate.
blerg i’m a horrible influence
(just ask my sister)

OKAY THAT’S IT. WHAT’S DONE IS DONE.
I’VE PLACED MY ORDER AND I COULDN’T GO THROUGH WITH THE GIFT CARD. ENDED UP BUYING TWO TEAS INSTEAD OOPS.
Oh well. They’re going to a good cause: mY BELLYYYY.
And here we have my roommate walking in but she doesn’t have to know I just spent money on tea heheh. I don’t regret my order. They’re all teas that I’ve been wanting to try! Except for one, but that’s for one of my roommates and she’s paying me back so I didn’t exactly spend as much as it says.
This is only my second order so far this year so I think I’m doing pretty well! And I used my frequent cup points on Adagio so I’m saving money.
I’M GOOD WITH MONEY AND BUDGETING AND I AM OH SO EXCITED FOR TEA TO ARRIVE IN THE MAIL :))

Yay!!! Best feeling EVER!!!

Backlogging about 6 cupsworth – bagged – from the last two days – It’s been crazy busy and I haven’t had a lot of time to spend with my new-to-me-teas to give them an official first impression review. PLUS…yesterday was even crazier so I ended up drinking a lot of bagged teas.

My rating of this blend: 93 out of 100.

As recommended by Ninavampi, I mixed 1.5 tsp of Vanilla Black Tea with 1.5 tsp of Peppermint and added boiling water. The result? Pure, luscious, minty, Christmas-y, candy cane tea!!!!!!

Oh, I just can’t wait to try this!!! After a three and a half minute steep, I’m ready to dig in! But I know I’ll regret it if I try to drink it too soon. I’ll burn off all my taste buds with scalding hot tea and then not be able to taste my beautiful new creation (or rather, Ninavampi’s creation).

Hurry up and cool! I went out to Target and picked up some Peppermint Oreos to go along with the tea. But I’m holding off eating those till I try the tea, which brings me back to my waiting dilemma. Why not wait until the tea cools off, try it, and then write this tasting note? Why, that would be too simple. And then you’d miss out on sharing in my impatience, which is part of the experience of this tea. :)

Finally! First sip. Mmmmmm!! Ninavampi was right on! This tastes EXACTLY like candy canes! I also find that adding a little bit of sweetener helps to take it from minty black tea to candy cane-ucopia. I’ve heard mixed reviews on a lot of Adagio’s new holiday blends (candy cane, cranberry, candy apple, etc). I almost bought a holiday sampler anyway because I really wanted some candy cane tea. But the reviews on this site stopped me. And I’m glad I didn’t waste my money! This tea is so spectacular, I don’t think it can be topped!

How come Adagio didn’t just put their vanilla and peppermint teas together, slap a candy cane tea label on it, and call it a day? Well, no matter. It’s 8:30 at night, and I’m drinking black tea anyway because this is just too good. It was calling me all day at work. “Come home and brew me!” Happy to oblige you, Tea. It’s my pleasure.

MMMMM candy cane tea :)

Ninavampi

I am happy you enjoyed it! : )
I tried the Adagio Christmas collection a year ago, and I didn’t like any of the blends… I was really sad because I really really wanted to like them.

This mix, is in my opinion, the best Candy Cane flavor I have gotten from a tea. I agree that Adagio could have managed a simpler and more delicious Candy Cane tea just by mixing ingredients that they already had! : )

I tried this straight tonight and I’m going to try it mixed with spearmint and tarragon in a few minutes.

Straight, it was exactly what I’d hoped — a really fresh tasting, aromatic, naturally sweet peppermint. No dirt or earth taste, which was what marred the Upton peppermint for me and led me to drink it mostly mixed with other things.

This stands on its own well, and provides a comforting, tummy settling drink for bedtime.

I finished the evening tea with a pot of this, and a little rooibos thrown in for good measure. It’s a good, hot drink; not quite as satisfying as a black or green tea, but a good option for the evening hours.

Might as well go ahead and rate this guy, since I’ve been drinking/using it the past few nights.

It’s peppermint! I’ve been so sick with allergies the past few days, so I finally broke out my peppermint sample. I’ve been putting a bit more than the two teaspoons recommended in, to make it extra stuffyness-fighting. And it works! Very minty taste, kind of unappealing when it cools down but excellent and affecting when hot. I don’t know how often I’d drink it without needing the menthol bits for health (without maybe mixing more things into it), but it’s delicious for what it is.

I got this tea as a surprise sample in one of my recent Adagio orders. I have to say that it’s been such a long time since I sat down and enjoyed a plain mint tea. It was the only tea I used to drink and I may have overused it a bit. But here it is, old friend. I really love the Adagio one because it is only peppermint. I don’t care for mint blends. They’re find if they are on their own, but together/mixed it creates a cacophony that I don’t enjoy.
This tea is especially sweet smelling and so strong! I love how minty fresh it is. It is a pleasant surprise when I’ve not really purchased loose leaf mints. It clears the head really quickly and tastes wonderful. This is my oldest herbal friend and I hope that I will always keep it stocked.
