Peach Oolong

I have made my own mixture using Peach Oolong and Chocolate teas from Adagio. My creation tastes like chocolate peach pie :) I may add a little vanilla in there as well or cream to see what difference it makes.

Overall it’s sweet, peachy nutty, mellow, chocolaty and rich. It’s growing on me :)

I have a test tomorrow, I know pretty much nothing on it. I have zero interest in studying or caring. First it doesn’t help that there’s a constant boom boom boom from fireworks, but Maria de Villota lost her right eye in the accident and I’m just gutted. I hope nothing’s worse than that for her. She’s one of my heroes since she’s one of the two female test drivers in Formula 1 and I’m just still in shock even though it’s been almost 12 hours since finding out the news.

So I have returned to peach, again. At least this time I think it’s a reliable one though I haven’t had it in a long time. So now I probably hate it since every other Adagio tea I’ve ever had has been a total bust to me and that’s why I’ve been ignoring it.

Nope. I still like it. I like the woody flavor of this oolong with the peach flavor. It’s light, though, so if you’re looking for juicy peach this is not the tea. It’s obviously not a very good quality oolong, but it’s always been clear to me Adagio’s base teas are not very good. This is the only one I can stand.

I think I’ll use the rest of the bag to cold brew.

Seriously I can’t even explain how angry I am to have an exam tomorrow. Thanks for ruining my holiday. I bet if this class was Monday/Wednesday he would have liked to find a way to have us have class today too despite the school being closed.

Alright so I hate this warm but think I have finally found the only way I will ever enjoy this. Cold steeping. I decided to give this tea one last try and thought maybe cold steeping it over night in the fridge might save me from the taste of this. It worked! The tea is slightly sweet, floral, and peachy with no astringency. I thought about adding sugar to it but there is enough natural sweetness that it tastes fine without. Love it this way.

Oops! I over steeped MAJORLY. I forgot about it actually. BUT…it’s still good just more wood/bark-type tasting. The Peach aroma is awesome and as it steeps you can smell the wood-ness come out the longer you steep. This is the last of my stash – time to make room for my new shipment from Adagio that should be here tomorrow! YAY!

Taken plain and with a little bit of sugar.
Without sugar the flavor is a deep woody peachy… thing. I was expecting more or a bright oolong to be pared with the peach flavor from a alishan to a monkey picked whatever but this is different. When you take it very hot the peach flavor is full and sweet with the underlying tea flavors giving a base to round the palate.
Very nice. Not was I was expecting but very pleasant.
And then the tea cools off a little… DON’T let the tea cool off too much! It starts getting woody… and the peach starts to fade… and then more wood and more wood and wood and wood wood wood wood.
All it ends up tasting like wood! And not good wood either… old musty wood.
With Sugar?
Add a pinch of sugar and it makes the peach sparkle when taken hot.
And as it cools… still woody… it takes longer to get to brick of wood but it still heads off down that path of why didn’t they pick a different mixing oolong.

Great at the beginning…

I love this peach oolong. It’s one of the only teas I’ve reordered. There isn’t a whole lot of the peach flavor but enough to make it a tad sweet without an icky aftertaste.. It’s kind of a juicy peach though. If you’re in the mood for a mild fruity oolong this might just be the one you’re looking for.

I just got back from school shopping with my daughter, and I am beat. Tea to the rescue!

Yummy. Peach and dark Taiwanese Oolong tea is a perfect combination. Smooth and delicious. Sweet and juicy. This is just what I needed.

The second in the flavored oolong sampler and sadly, it’s no grapefruit oolong.

The fragrance in the tin is supposed to be peach, I guess, but it smells more generically like a sweet, slightly vanilla, flavoring agent with perhaps a cocoa note. The tea looks pretty much like the base of the grapefruit oolong and I’m guessing they are the same Formosa oolong.

This steeps to a tawny, golden-brownish color and the aroma is like a spread out version of the aroma in the tin.

I should mention that I seem to get peach and apricot flavorings in tea confused sometimes. Often when I’m supposed to taste peach I taste apricot and vice versa. On the way home from work, I was having some of the Vanilla Apricot White from Tazo in a tumbler, and when I had my first sip of this, I honestly thought it tasted exactly like the Tazo. Which is odd, because not only is the flavor supposed to be peach, and not supposed to have vanilla, but the teas are of different types.

I asked the BF who is a big peach fan to taste it and he said it was definitely peach, but weak. I had to explain to him that it was oolong, as I think he was thinking it was black tea. He doesn’t know from oolong.

But it is… I don’t know if I’d say weak, but it doesn’t have a very robust flavor. The grapefruit seemed to bring out the flavor of the tea in a way that this isn’t doing. It’s just sort of a flat, shade of oolong taste with a sweet peachy/apricot flavor on top.

It doesn’t taste bad, it just doesn’t have much of a raison d’etre in my view. I went through three steeps and it was pretty much the same each time.

Sad that after such a nice experience with the grapefruit, this was rather a let down.

Ricky gave me exactly 3g. Enough for a perfect 8oz cuppa. I added 1.5g of ginger root. The raw leaves smell slightly of peach jello, but they also do have a distinct tea smell.

The taste is an equal balance of tea w/ hints of peach and ginger, although I do wish the peach was a hint stronger. I’m excited to see what additional steeps will give me and will definitely be buying a sample size of this for my own.

Made this tonight and wasn’t impressed. I even made it in my glass teapot so I could enjoy viewing the leaves unfurl, didn’t see too much unfurling. This tea has less peach flavor that the black peach. Really hardly any peach flavor at all, I could smell the peach, it was peach colored, but no peach taste. Sad face :( I prefer the prettier H&S Pomegranate Oolong to this so far. Have yet to try other oolongs.
