Peach Oolong

I got distracted by unpacking this morning and only managed a sip of this while it was still hot. I ended up drinking it at room temperature with lunch after I remembered that I had left it in the bedroom, whoops!

Hot this really didn’t impress me, I thought the oolong was weak and I hardly tasted the peach at all. It was a slightly different story after it had cooled off and sat around for several hours. I really tasted the peach, it was such a nice sweet flavor that hit the spot after a week of subpar teas. I really wish the oolong would have come through more, this really wasn’t as good as I was hoping it would be, but I consider it perfectly drinkable. It might make a nice iced tea so I’ll have to play with that next.

I wasn’t really thinking when I made this today that normally I use 1 heaping Tablespoon with Adagio teas and only ended up using 2 heaping teaspoons. This would probably be more to my tastes if I had prepared as I normally would have and not following the directions on the package.

I should also mention that this really didn’t resteep well for me. I increased the time by 1 minute for the second steep but it was pretty flavorless. I didn’t get any peach at all and only a hint of oolong.

Peachy Oolongy goodness. Delightful for icing. Keep in mind the health benefits of oolong :)

My first experience with Adagio Teas.

The leaves were disappointingly fine-cut, but that may be the fact that I’m drinking from one of their 5-cup samples rather than a bigger bag. The ingredients list apricot amongst the usual and expected suspects, and that comes through strongly in the powerful scent of the leaves. It’s very reminiscent of Revolution Tea’s Dragon Eye Oolong, actually, which shouldn’t be surprising given they’re made of similar stock. These leaves smell a lot better and/or stronger than Revolution’s, but look to be of equivalent quality.

The liquor is a gorgeous dark amber, no surprises from a brownish oolong like this. The scent from the leaves is still coming through in full blast, but unfortunately that strength didn’t stick around for the taste; a slight hint of peach and woody tea are all that distinguish it from the hot water in which it’s steeped. It might be better with a bit more honey to flesh out the flavor a bit – I used my typical half-teaspoon.

I probably wouldn’t be so disappointed by the flavor if the leaves hadn’t set the bar so high with their scent. Not a bad tea by any means, but when I want a flavor of this sort I’m sticking to the aforementioned Dragon Eye Oolong.

A bit bland and disappointing, but I still found it enjoyable because of my love for peaches. Adding sugar and drinking over ice is my preference.

What’s next on my list?

I’ve been a tea lover for years now and having my tea lady from the farmers market in Los Angeles has taught me alot about my love of tea. So that being said let me review this PEACH OOLONG. I definately liked this oolong it was light and smooth. The peach flavor was ultimately there but not as strong as i would have liked it.

I’ve actually made this tea a few times already but I’m pretty disappointed/meh about this one. At least it was free with my order. Haha

Not enough peachy-ness and the oolong was surprisingly bland. It never rounds out into a deep richness like the dry smell suggests. Instead it leaves you waiting for a sweet richness that doesn’t come around, it just fades into flat blandness with a very slight hint of peach.

Last words: Don’t be fooled be the amazing peachy and chocolaty scent of the dry leaves. This tea really doesn’t have much else to offer.
(Maybe I’ll make them into scent-sachets for my clothing drawers.)

The perfect peach tea.

I love this tea – when prepared correctly it has a very well balanced, sweet peach flavour and a warm, comforting colour. It would be great iced, as well. I put a bit of sugar in it to bring out the peach flavours.

Steeped in ingenuiTEA, with more leaf than usual. Then added brown sugar and served iced. It’s okay, but has a rubbery (??) afterscent(?) I’m not too fond of. Nobody else seems to notice though. Left this out in the open— and not locked up in my special tea cabinet :P— for public consumption.
