Dreamsicle Puerh

This is my very first 52teas blend. I’ve been curious for a long time about these blends, but for some reason, have always delayed on putting in an order. Thanks to Lala, I can try some of the blends to see how I like them before putting in an order.

I like this quite a lot. I didn’t get much in the way of dry leaf aroma, nor did I find an off-putting nor offensive odours in the brewed version. I was actually kind of surprised at how pale the brew was, I was anticipating something….else. What I really like about this, is it does taste really creamy with a hint of orange.

I don’t usually do a second infusion of flavoured tea’s, but thought I would see how this would hold up. Flavours are still there, but I let it infuse too long so I did get some bitterness as well. My fault.

I think next time I may add some sweetener of some type just to see if it makes the orange pop a little more. But this is still really tasty without added sweetener.

This was oddly weak tasting to me. I liked it, it was refreshing, as the puerh was very green tasting and didn’t have the typical aged flavor, and there was the dreamsicle flavor on the back of my tongue, almost as an aftertaste. I was hoping for a bit more flavor, but it was still very enjoyable.

Courtney shared a sample of this one with me. I confess to not having the faintest clue as to what a dreamsicle is, but I think it’s some kind of ice lolly, yes?

When pouring it was SO PALE coming out of the spout that I actually stopped to lift the lid and check that I had added leaf.

It smells citrus-y. Sort of lemon-y and grapefruit-y. I believe the base is also playing a part in this. It sort of feels like the lemon-y aspects are not added flavours, but I can’t explain why I’m getting this impression. Other than that, I’m not really picking up anything of the base.

It tastes citrus-y too. More zesty than fruity. Again, I’m leaning towards grapefruit, but there’s something else in here as well. Something sweet. Vanilla? I think vanilla. (Hm. I was trying to go for something different from the cup I just had. Perhaps under such circumstances, one shouldn’t choose a tea flavoured to imitate something one doesn’t know what is…). I’m still not getting anything out of the base, though. I think I would enjoy it more if I could find the base in this.

So dreamsicles. Some sort of grapefruit/citrus-y ice lolly with vanilla? Perhaps a vanilla ice cream center with the citrus-y ice lolly bit around it?

I have never tried any puerh teas before. With the dreamsicle flavor I still don’t know what puerh really tastes like. I do however enjoy the dreamsicle aspect of this tea. It has a slight creaminess that makes the orange so smooth. The end of the sip is a little astringent leaving my mouth slightly dry but not interfering with the dreamsicle flavor.

Christ.

So, I was going to write about how I was more careful steeping my sample from Lala this time around, and how I added milk and the result was liquid creamsicle – but then I logged in to tumblr and was berated with some seriously fucked up information that I’m not sure how to handle/deal with.

Apparently some 18 year old guy posted a Vine where he literally diddles a hot pocket. Oh my fucking God. Tre’s not home right now, so I had to share this information with someone. Like; I am not at the point where I can just readily accept this and move on. Sometimes things on the internet still surprise me, such as this. What the everlasting fuck would possess a human being to do that?

And – thing is – this guy was wearing a condom and everything. This was premeditated frick fracking with microwavable goods.
