Soo… my sister tested positive for covid yesterday. Now we are waiting to see if she passed it to our parents (or me) but they’ve had no symptoms for a week since seeing her, so far, but I know symptoms can’t always be present. She thinks she got it at a bar. Personally, not to harp, I have thought from day one that it is not the best idea to go to a bar/restaurant during a pandemic, but we have always had the most opposite of mindsets. All of my relatives on my dad’s side of the family went to a restaurant about a month ago (including 92 year old grandma) and I thought this was um, ridiculous that I had to worry about losing all my relatives at once. Please everyone stay safe and keep in mind that if there ARE uncaring people out there, who know they already have the virus, they could be being reckless and going out to bars/restaurants.
Thank you again, AJRimmer! Again, another cup of hibiscus hibiscus hibiscus, or Teavivre calls it roselle. I would hardly believe there is orange even present in this cup, in a blind taste test. But I made sure to get a healthy, lovely looking orange wedge in the infuser. The second steep was the same. It’s just a missed opportunity drowning all of these herbal teas in roselle. Too much is too much. And maybe that is the key to so many disliking hibiscus. It’s not a bad flavor, really, until it ruins too many blends that you’re expecting so much more from.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for full mug // 5 minutes after boiling // 2 1/2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 minute steep
Flavors: Hibiscus

And I double-bagged a hibi tea last night because it felt too weak-sauce to me. :-P At least think of it this way… it is chock-full of Vitamin C which hurts no one right now!
Sorry about your sister. Mine has been having a hard time with her Covid infection so I hope your sister has a milder case. My sister got it from her work — retail mall outlet store. Because of course the retails stores have to keep making their money! (And as a note, she always wears a mask out in public too, it doesn’t make you impervious to getting sick). One employee tested positive so the rest were tested, and she was one of the ones hit. Whether there was an outbreak in that store from customers or if that other employee “brought it in”, who knows…
I’m sorry your sister is having such a bad time with it. It’s terrible that even being careful and wearing a mask can still make someone (like your sister) sick.
I’m crossing my fingers for you and your family! And I totally agree with you, I don’t understand why anyone would go to a restaurant right now…
Fingers crossed for your family, and my thoughts are with your sister. I agree about the restaurants and many things in the same vein. People in the city I’m in seem to have forgotten there’s a pandemic!
Thanks mrmopar and ashmanra! She has had mild symptoms so far and the health dept says she shouldn’t have to quarantine after tomorrow (which is odd— I assumed they wanted people to try to make sure they didn’t have it anymore.) My parents haven’t seen my sister for two weeks by Tuesday, so hopefully if they haven’t had symptoms by then they should be in the clear. We have all been being so careful! I try to disinfect everything every day and I’m just extremely glad I recently found some Lysol to keep around for the winter.
