How am I the first to review a YUNNAN tea from Steep City? Yunnans are so good! Steep City is so good! The dry leaves smell peppery, but they also have a fragrance that reminds me of pizza for some reason! I love the gold and brown mix of color in the leaves. After a four minute steep, I get a malty, chocolatey, slightly peppery, sweet, honey, slightly molasses like, DELICIOUS cup. I love the complexity of all the notes, how you can pick out all of those yummy notes. It tastes a bit light and a bit dark at the same time, if that makes sense. It’s like the honey notes match the gold leaves of the tea! Yunnan teas are one of my favorite types, and this one definitely proves why. I’d call this the ‘Yunnan flavor profile’. It’s a nice example of Yunnan for beginners, or for those who already love Yunnan that want another good one. The second steep was just as delicious and I probably should have went for a third. This is the sixth tea I’ve tried from them and I can say I would definitely order full ounces of all six of them. If these six are any indication, you can’t really go wrong with Steepcityteas.com!

Too the shopping list!!!

Oolong Owl

ditto. This tea sounds fantastic! My Steepcity shopping list just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and I’ve already ordered from them twice!

Thanks guys! Glad you liked this tea. Our Yunnan is, to us, a very high quality steep. We are surprised more people haven’t tried it, but hopefully they will!

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
