68 Tasting Notes
A wonderful little tea to get lost in. It puts one’s mind in a completely different frame. If just for a moment. It settles upon the tongue like if it always there. The taste of it reminds me of family. The way things are done, the ways things should be, the way a home could taste if we could taste our first step past the door. I chose my book for this tea or vice versa to enjoy it because it is about family, about roots, about that eathy peaceful type of love and peace that you can have within yourself and the complications of relationships and history that family and friends impact your life.
The book I recommend for this tea is:
The House Girl by Tara Conklin
Preparation
A friend brought me this tea and what a surprising delight it was.
I immediately judged it by the fact that it was in a tea bag at first but I still tried it anyway and I was so glad I did. I love it. I love everything about it, from the sweet smell of the bag to the taste. This tea reminds me of summer, pure lovely summer days filled with the sweet promise of fun.
Because it induces summer memories, I recommend the graphic novel:
This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki, Jillian Tamaki.
The tea, like the book is a complete memory of summer. It is too short of a delightful read, just like the tea. Once you drink it, you just want more yet satisfying enough to leave the aftertaste of satisfaction both on your tongue from the tea and in your mind from the book.Preparation
What a smokey flavor tea. I like the woodsy flavor in it. But I am no expert in mates.
But what I can tell you that this tea reminds me of falling leaves days’ spent walking through trails of heavenly forest which obscures the autumn sun.
If you are in love with that, you will love exploring the world of Wild by Cheryl Strayed. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. And as well as it may sound, I will also recommend reading South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami despite the fact that the novel has little connections to the woods and the falls that this tea’s taste clearly represents. I think it’s because of the plot of the novel which is at times, just as heavy layered as this tea is.
