56 Tasting Notes

Today I decided to go use up some coupons I have at David’s tea. I had a $10 off coupon that I got for making a purchase on Black Friday. Now that this feel good collection is out, I figured I should use it! Plus it expires at the end of the month lol.

I purchased 3 boxes of tea sachets for $25 (which I really got for $15): Live Wire Lemon, Mango Tumeric, and Ginger Peach Moringa. (I also used some free tea rewards to get some Gold Rush and Buchu Superfruit. I was just raking in the deals today!)

I love ginger. It is one of my absolute favourite flavours. I really liked the Ginger Peach Moringa tea. It was fabulous! When I bought this one, I didn’t even realize it had ginger in it. I took the sachet thing to my night class and made a tea with cold water, hoping that the whole “Live Wire” part would keep me awake for my 3 hour class! It did (yay caffeine!).

I left the tea bag in for probably 5 hours. I know, I know. Tea experts probably think I’m crazy (I’m sorry). I’m glad I did this though! If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have tasted the flavour progression! It starts out super lemon-y, which was to be expected. I didn’t really mind it, but it might be too much for some people. After quite some time the ginger flavour really takes the reigns and enters the foreground. I am super happy about this though!

Overall I liked this tea a lot more than I expected. The lemon flavour isn’t as strong as the smell is, which was a good thing because it was pretty powerful. If this was made hot, I think it would be good for clearing up stuffy noses and sore throats! If I make it cold again, I will add some sweetner to add a little something to it. Otherwise I’m really happy with this lemon tea! Remind me not to drink it at 12:37am though…I’m hoping I can fall asleep!

So I’m back to school for a new semester and it’s been tough getting back into a routine. I decided that for a pick me up today I would run to my local store and purchase the new collection of teas! Unfortunately, my local store did not have all of them in stock, so I decided to just get a cup of this one to go.

I really enjoyed this one! I am a HUUUUGE ginger fan so I had high expectations. They were met! The longer the tea steeps, the stronger the ginger flavour gets; because I love it so strong I left my tea bag in the whole time. I also love the lemongrass in here. The peach part of the tea is definitely present. I would say the peach almost tastes artificial (think The Glow from DT – which is one of my favourites – this is definitely The Glow meets ginger), but the first ingredient in the tea is peach pieces, so I guess the peach is real!

By the time I got to class and went to drink this it was luke warm-ish. I am anticipating it being even better hot! No sweetner is needed as the sweetness of the peach is enough. The spicy-sweet balance is perfect.

I am looking forward to trying Mango Tumeric once my store has it and seeing which of the two I like better. I wish that I had purchased some of this loose-leaf today so that I would have more to sip on right now!

This was in the 24 Days of Tea, so I thought I would review it! Also I am procrastinating studying…it’s finals season – YAY (extreme sarcasm).

Anyways, I bought a skinny tin of this tea when it came out in the winter collection so that I could try it at home. I figured by the smell that I would like it, so I just figured ‘What the heck!’ and bought it. I didn’t think that it smelled like bubblegum until someone in the store said it smells like bubblegum. Now, it is all I smell. I did think the fragrance was very strong and fruity when I smelled it, but I still thought I’d try it (I’m also not really a fan of hot fruity teas, so I really don’t know why I purchased this at all lol).

The fragrance is very strong, but it doesn’t taste super strong. Also, I have just left the tea bag in while drinking it and it hasn’t become overpoweringly strong at all, which surprised me. I do get notes of cloves, but it is definitely more orange-y than anythng. I’m not upset about that though, because I was expecting it to be a cinnamon-y cider which I’m not a fan of. It kind of reminds me of a fruit punch. I’ve never had mulled wine, so I’m not sure if it is true to it’s name or not.

I would drink this again, and I have to because I have about 40 grams of it left haha. I won’t be upset when it is gone, but it’ll have been a good run.

This was one of the teas in my 24 Days of Tea calendar! I have never really had a straight green tea before, so I wanted to write a review on it.

This tea is better than I expected, though it is quite simple. I didn’t realize it had caffeine, so making it at 11:30pm was probably a bad idea haha (though at any other time I’d be fine with it having caffeine – I actually enjoy the caffeine). Perhaps I have let it steep longer than I should have (I’m not familiar with how to make straight green tea), but I find it to be kind of salty tasting. Maybe it’s just me? I’m not sure! I have noticed that people said it tastes seaweed-y, so maybe that’s what I am tasting. Not bad, just unexpected.

Overall, the tea isn’t awful. I am giving it a lower rating because I probably won’t buy any of it to keep a permanent stash. I’d drink it again, but I do prefer other David’s Tea green teas (ex. detox, toasted walnut, movie night).

I purchased a small amount of this tea to try this summer.

It has been a while since I drank it, but I was not very fond of it anyways. The flavours were definitely very strong which was nice, but to me it just tasted like a fruit punch. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t anything special either. I haven’t had a shirley temple in a very long time, so I couldn’t remember if the flavor profile is accurate or not.

I didn’t repurchase this because I have teas that I like a lot more. I would drink it again if I was offered some, but I wouldn’t buy anymore for myself.

This is one of the first teas I ever purchased from David’s Tea. I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this one yet! This was not only my first tea from DT, it was probably my first favorite from there as well. I used up some free tea points to buy it, so that made it even better! haha!

I didn’t realize how much I love ginger until I had this tea. It is super strong and spicy and wonderful! I have had this both cold and hot, but I definitely prefer it hot (cold isn’t bad though). The ginger is definitely the prominent flavour in this tea. The pear balances it out though. It helps in sweetening the ginger so that it isn’t super overpowering.

When I make this tea, I usually leave it steep for a VERY long time. I love when the ginger is VERY strong. If you are not into strong ginger, I would reccommend letting this steep for only a short period of time, especially because it is a white tea.

I love this tea and will totally repurchase when my stock is finished. Out of the ginger teas I’ve had from DT, this one is by far my favorite.

I bought this tea the day it came out, but still haven’t reviewed it! Ah! I’m getting behind!

The smell of this tea is fabulous. It has a very strong fragrance which is great. It tastes about as strong as it smells too, which was surprising to me! I don’t think I’ve ever had a tea with as strong of a flavour as this one – I almost feel as though I am drinking a juice instead of a tea when I have it – that’s how strong it is!

With all of that being said, the flavor is only okay. It isn’t that I dislike this tea. I find the flavour to be slightly offputting. I think it might be because it is so strong. The pineapple tends to take over and makes it very sweet. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I am not always in the mood for something this sweet. It is tasty, I just have to be in the right mood to drink it!
I have only made this tea cold, and I won’t be changing that. I can’t see myself enjoying this hot.

Will I drink it again? Yes. Will I buy more of it? Maybe…
It is refreshing on a hot day, but there are other teas that I enjoy more! :)

I picked this tea up months ago (when it was in the “They’re Back” collection) but I haven’t gotten a chance to review it yet.

I love this tea. First of all, I should start by saying that I generally love any tea with lemongrass in it. I find it very light and refreshing. The blueberry in this adds a really neat flavor next to the lemongrass. It turns it into kind of a tart blueberry lemonade! The tartness is quickly counterbalanced when the sweet pineapple is added. It ends up being a super refreshing, flavorful lemonade-ish tea!

I always make this tea cold. I’m not a huge fan of fruity teas hot, so I tend to stay away from that. I think I have tried this hot once but it wasn’t my favorite. However, cold is perfect! It is also great because I usually get more than one cold steep out of it. Occasionally I add sweetner, but it is not neccesary with this tea.

I would drink this every day if I could. Unfortunately, I only have a small stash of it around, so I can’t do that. :(

Many people have said that Berry Refreshing is similar to this. I agree. Though they are in no way the same tea, I really love both of them – they both have a berry lemonade vibe which is perfect for a hot day. I love both of them and would definitely drink either one any day!
