I went in search of this for Roswell Strange only to realize I never actually tried this properly myself. I had it once before but I was sick which meant I really couldn’t taste much. So, I brewed myself up a cup of this hot (175F for 1.5 minutes) and the result was quite nice. The coconut was incredibly buttery but every now and then a pineapple tang popped up which brought the whole tea closer to a piña colada type drink as opposed to taking on a lotiony vibe. Very nice. Next up, I will follow my tea twin and cold brew this.

Stephanie

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting I have this one, I should cold brew some this weekend too!

drank Banana Bake by T2

Made this iced as per Memily’s suggestion and though it was pleasant enough, I think I preferred it hot. Iced, the base was more pronounced which pushed some of the tasty banana flavor to the background. Although, perhaps I was more biased having this cup because I just finished the tasty Banana Pudding tea that I enjoy so much.

This is more like it. Creamy coconut and sweet banana married beautifully in one tasty cup of banana pudding.

drank Caramel Apple Oolong by 52teas

So when I was looking this up I may have searched “nope” because that is how I felt after my first sip. I get a bit of caramel but mostly this tea is like 97% oolong and I hate oolong. Thank you Roswell Strange for the chance to try this tea but it is not for me.

So I don’t like coffee but for some reason when I see coffee flavored things, i get really excited. However, when I drink them and they have the coffee earthiness/bitterness, I find myself disappointed. Unfortunately this tea was no exception. I tried it without sugar and really disliked what I was tasting (though it smelled AMAZING!) because the espresso took over. Today, I took Stacy’s advise and added some pieces of rock sugar and though it has helped to bring out some of the other flavors, this is still too espresso for my taste. Luckily many seem to be a fan so I doubt it would be hard to find someone to take this off my hands.

Courtney

Oh no! I was a little concerned about this one, because I like ice coffee, but coffee-flavoured things turn me off. I was lucky to really enjoy this though. :)

VariaTEA

Would you like some more?

Cameron B.

I felt left out when I didn’t love this tea as much as others seem to. Now I feel better knowing not everyone likes it! :P

VariaTEA

Cameron B., we are forever bonded lol

Roswell Strange

Don’t steal my twin from me! :P But BTDubbs, I typically have the exact same reaction with “alcohol” themed/flavoured teas. When I see them, I get crazy excited but often I feel rather let down by ’em.

VariaTEA

Except for Niagara Icewine of course which you surprisingly enjoyed.

Cameron B.

But, but… We can be tea triplets!

Courtney

I’m the triplet. :P

Roswell Strange

@VariaTEA, which shocked me ‘cause I hated McQuarrie’s white Ice Wine blend :P

VariaTEA

Roswell, to me this tasted similar which is weird

Courtney

P.S. VariaTEA I did send you a message earlier :)

VariaTea, I also love how coffee and coffee-flavored things smell but HATE the taste. I’ve steered clear of this one so far and this review confirmed that I made the right decision. Thanks!

Memily

I’m really keen to try this and also need a bit of a DAVIDsTEA restock… should I message? ;)

VariaTEA

mj, I definitely love how they smell too. This one smells amazing for sure which led me to be that much more disappointed.

Memily, I promised this to someone else but feel free to message and I could potentially be your DAVIDsTEA mule :P

This. I really like this. Sweet. Nutty. Rich. Perfect. Yum :)

Roswell Strange

I think I’m gonna try this one today! Did you do boiling water given it uses the White Rhino base?

VariaTEA

Yep which is just one more reason to love this. I thought I sent you some. Did I not?

Roswell Strange

You did; I haven’t had it yet, but it’s in the pile of samples to try today :)

This smells awesomely grapesque and as I sip, I am certainly reminded of a nice fruity icewine. It’s good. Certainly much better than I expected so yay! However, I am just not sure how often I would drink this and I have quite a bit.

A beautifully delicate tea that really resembles its namesake. Delicious!

Corn, hay, green beans, and cream – a strange combination in theory but in this cup it is really working. All the elements are present and tasty and yet come together beautifully to create a satisfying and delicious tea.

Roswell Strange

The green beans part seems dicey to me. I don’t want beans in my tea :P

VariaTEA

lol I didn’t think I did either but it works. I don’t know if it is green beans per se or just the sort of sweet/vegetal flavor similar to green beans that I was getting.

So I made this cup hot and the cranberry is more pronounced while the spices are slightly toned down when compared to the cold brewed cup. I am not a huge lover of any of the Fall teas but so far I think of all of them, this is the one I enjoyed the most. 173.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then

60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
