I finally got around to turning in my recalled glass tumbler so I picked up 2oz of this herbal while I was at Teavana. it smells sweet and banana-like, and tastes along those lines but wow is this sweet. I like sweet things and this is reaching the overpowering stage for me; I feel like I should brush my teeth after. Not surprising for a Teavana blend, but it’s also pretty heavy with all the chunks of fruit and whatever so I don’t think I’ll get very many cups out of the 2oz.

Had this with a little vanilla half and half.

Had this again with different soy milk, still no dice. The mint is overpoweringly minty to me & I got zero chocolate taste. Not even the weird chemically chocolate taste I got with the Belgium Chocolate matcha. This also had a cloying sweetness to it that didn’t balance well with the mint for me.

OMG, Chocolate Cake replacement have I found you? The orange is strong in smell, & in the first cup I had of this it was oddly present, but that chocolate taste I love & miss so much from the discontinued Chocolate Cake is present here! First cup started out orangey, then had the pu’erh taste, then chocolate notes, then orange again at the end. Today it was pretty much all chocolate pu’erh with maybe a hint of orange. No sugar, but did add about 2 teaspoons of french vanilla half & half.

Reserving rating so far as I’ve only had this once & it was with the evil soy milk that I don’t like. I’ve almost finished off that carton, so once it’s gone I’ll retry this with different soy. It was over-the-top minty and chalky tasting, but I’m blaming that on the milk because it did the same thing to my last cup of cheesecake matcha.

Not great, not bad. The smell is pleasantly fruity and the mango is particularly distinctive, but the taste gets cloyingly sweet pretty fast even without the addition of sugar. There are better whites/greens out there.

Received a sample when I ordered their matcha. It has a nice nutty quality, not as seaweed/briny as I was expecting it to be. Has a leafy green and vegetal taste after the nuttiness abates. Nice.

Dry leaves smell sweet and have a slight hint of hay/foliage. To taste it’s a bit sweet, pleasantly nutty with a hint of grassiness. Maybe a hint of roasted leaves. Longjing is my first love of green teas. I still have some of this from last year’s picking and this smells and tastes much “brighter” than the year old tea.

This is a unique tasting matcha to the other straight varieties I’ve tried so far. Has the vegetal, slightly leafy green taste, and then I get hit with a warm savory taste. Perhaps this is the umami taste I’ve read about? It’s hard to describe except as just savory on the tongue. Much more earthy tasting than the KaiMatcha I recently finished.

2 chasaku scoops dissolved in 175F water in a chawan, then whisked with more water.

Received this as a sample.

I’m just not sure how I feel about oolongs despite how much I want to like them. First thought upon sipping is, meh flowery. Then there’s the milkiness in the back. It has a silky sweetness and I like the milk flavor, but I’m not huge into flowery teas and all oolongs thus far have tasted very flowery to me. It’s not bad, but I’m not craving more.

Backlog from yesterday. Has a deep, dark chocolate smell when dry, and the black tea leafy smell comes out once steeped. Had mine with a little cream and rock sugar. I only get a faint hint of chocolate taste, but it had a nice creamy body and the almost caramel/toffee note of the black tea. The hunt for a chocolatey tasting black tea continues, but this wasn’t bad.

After getting sick for the third time within about a three-month period I decided to try and drown it out with tea. I never liked tea growing up, but in my early twenties my taste buds had finally changed enough to find the flavors.

Started with flavored blacks from Teavana (gasp), and now am primarily a white/green tea drinker. I’ve recently fallen in love with matcha.

I love teapots, tea cups, and tea sets, but mainly use my Timolino or Contigo travel mugs because they’re leak-proof and hold the heat for so long! Drinking a cup of tea before it gets cold usually doesn’t happen as I set it down and get distracted with something else only to return to it when it’s (if I’m lucky) lukewarm.
