767 Tasting Notes
Yahoo! By using my hair dryer I managed to unfreeze the window enough to get it closed! Good thing, too, as it’s a bit nippy out there tonight. I’m sitting down now with a cup of this tea and my knitting. It’s a great way to end a good day.
This tea is warming, spicy, and just a little sweet on its own. Last time I made this tea I must have had quite a bit of cinnamon in it, because it left me with that odd, coated dry mouth feeling when you have too much cinnamon. Tonight this is just about perfect. Think when I re-steep I’ll make some cinnamon toast to go with it.
It’s awfully cold in my apartment and I couldn’t figure out why until I went to the window and found it was open about a quarter of an inch. Hmmmm. It’s frozen in that position. Time for some hot tea, right? Brewed a pot of this, figuring it would be warm and delightful, and it is. I don’t know how to describe it, since I don’t taste much, but it’s a rich tea without being too strong or bitter, nor is it weak.
The snow is drifted high in front of my garage door, and my poor shoulder screamed at the idea of trying to shovel my out, so instead of going to church this morning, I am drinking tea and knitting. I still have some of this left from the sample WP sent me so I decided this would be my morning cup. Mmmm, delicious. So smooth, so silky. There is nothing better than a cup of hot tea when the wind is howling outside.
Gosh darn it, now I have sore throat and a cough. And of course all that coughing is irritating that tear in my rotator cuff. Do you ever feel like if it weren’t for bad luck you wouldn’t have any luck at all? That’s where I’m at right now. So I brewed up a pot of this. It’s not on the same level of “savoring” as some of my favorite black teas, but it’s nice when I’m under the weather., and it’s caffeine free so it works for evening. I really need to find some tasty teas without caffeine for evening .
This is the last of my samples from What-Cha to try. I’ve enjoyed all the samples from the Georgia Sampler, but I think this might be my favorite. It’s a full-bodied, bold black tea, but not at all bitter. In fact, there’s a shadow of natural sweetness to it that really appeals to me. We have another month and half of winter to go through here in North Dakota, but I’m already trying to decide which teas would be good iced. I thin kthis one might be perfect for iced tea.
Preparation
I need a comfort tea!!! Yesterday we had our first real snowfall of the year and my car got stuck in the parking lot. I had to shovel my way out, and after I finally got settled back home I noticed my right shoulder was sore. I thought I was just out of shape and went on with my day. This morning it hurt quite a bit when I got up. I must have slept on it wrong. But as the day went on, it hurt more and more. The skin was warm and tender to the touch. I couldn’t tell if it was swollen or not. I called my doctor and was able to get in this afternoon to see her. (Gotta love it when that happens!) Turns out I might have torn my rotator cuff. When she said that I imagined a gaping 6 inch tear. But apparently it is a millimeter or less. She gave me a sling and a fancy gel ice pack and told me to take Tylenol for pain. I’m allergic to naproxin, aspirin and ibuprofen, which is a shame, because they do a better job at reducing swelling. So I’m drinking this tea because it’s a comfort. I’m feeling very sorry for myself tonight. Even knitting hurts. Sometiems life just isn’t fair, is it. Luckily, this tea is delicious.
