An exceptional white tea. The dry tea leaves do look like silvery-green needles and brewed, the tea is a very pale color in the cup. I had another of What-Cha’s teas yesterday, and I enjoyed it, but I think I like this one even better. A very delicate flavor, not sweet, not sour, not astringent, and not bitter. A lovely cup for the afternoon or evening.

Had a cup of this right after supper, while I was editing a nasty long chapter. I wondered if I would still enjoy it as much as I did before I drank my “posh” teas from What-Cha, Whispering Pines, and Tippy’s. I’m glad to say that I did. I like mint in tea as well as various spices, so I think this will be a forever favorite.

Well, I DO like oolongs! I had a flavored oolong a year ago that I didnt’ really like, so I thought I wouldn’t like any oolong. I was wrong! This tea brews up quite pale in color, with a delicate flavor that doesn’t require sweetener. We’re having our first real snow of the year (Imagine, Fargo, North Dakota, USA with bare grass showing until Feb 9! Now it’s all covered with light white stuff that blows around before finally settling on the ground) and I’m enjoying a nice cup of this while I work. In fact, off to see how well a second steep tastes!

What a beautiful, mellow tea for my evening cup. I made a tall travel cup of this to take to my meeting tonight and brewed another when I came home. It really is lovely. I’m bumping my rating up a bit because I am really enjoying this tonight.

Another hit from the Georgia Tea Sampler from What-Cha. Smooth, a bit malty, even a teeny bit smoky (although I could be wrong about that since I don’t taste much). It’s amazing to me as a newcomer to quality loose leaf tea that unflavored black teas have such a variety of tastes and flavors. This one meets all my must haves: Smooth, no bitterness or astringency, and no need for added sweeteners.

Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

I brewed a pot of this up to drink while knitting tonight. so good! What is better than sitting in an arm chair knitting and sipping tea on a cold winter night?

drank Minted Monkey by Tippy's Tea

Today was a good day. I got all the cleaning on my list done (took me 8 hours!) and spent the last hour sipping this and knitting. I will be moving at the end of March and it’s horrifying how much stuff I have. You would not believe the things I unearthed from my bedroom closet! I sorted, boxed up for goodwill, and carried stuff out to the dumpster. So now I’m tired, physically weary rather than sleepy, and decided I deserve a treat tonight. Since I just ordered 50 grams of this, I feel like I can go ahead and drink up the last of my sample.

Yummy as always. I really enjoy Not So Vanilla, but I prefer this one. So smooth it;’ decadent.

After a week of running around like crazy, I finally took a couple of hours for myself. I finished a fantasy novel (2nd in the series, called Sworn in Steel) that I started over a week ago, and brewed a pot of this to drink while reading. The mellow, smooth flavor just added to my enjoyment of the evening. That’s what tea is all about in the evening!

This was my mid morning cup. Delicious. Smooth. Just-right. I have acquired a nice variety of teas. Obviously, not nearly as many as othe Steepster-ites have, but very respectable. How in the world do people decide what to drink when??? Do things seem to disappear from view and then be re-discovered? It’s a dilemma, but a wonderful one to have.

My tea collection has spread out in a heap under my dining room table. I have a box of untrieds and a box of sipdowns (1-2 cups left), so unless I’m craving a specific tea, I just grab something from one of those piles. Because I have WAY. TOO. MUCH. tea, if I’m craving a particular category of tea, I can almost certainly find it in one of those two piles.

I forget I own about 1/3 of my teas until I stumble upon them while looking for something else. It’s always a fun surprise to find one you love.

I know that compared to many of you my tea cupboard is sparse. But it does fill most of three shelves. OK, most of two shelves, but the third shelf is my tea sacs and stuff. I’m telling myself NO MORE TEA. (except for when Minted Monkey from Tippy’s Tea becomes available again. I’m hoarding that sample like it’s gold.)

OMGsrsly

That’s what you say now, but then you swap with someone and it turns into 3 or 4 someones and all of a sudden you have 200+ teas you need to sip down!

LOL! I hope to be able to join a Traveling Tea Chest someday, but I’m not able to comment on the discussion boards. Stupid computers! But someday I hope to be able to share some of what I love (and don’t love) and be shared with. I love the idea of trying a tea out before I buy 50 grams of it. Someday!

I have had an utterly frustrating day! Chewed out by my boss (I made a mistake, and I deserved it, but didn’t do a lot for my mood, yeah?) Printer failed, so I actually went out and bought a new one. Unfortunately I forgot to buy a USB cable. Back to the store for that. Tried and TRIED to set it up for my wireless network, but …. No dice.
At least with the USB cable I can print from 1 computer. My entire evening was spent on that, and now I have nothing I was going to do done. I am so snarly that I can’t possibly sleep. Again. Someday, as God is my witness, I am going to go to bed and get more than 5 hours of sleep!!!

Rant over. The point of all that was to say that I deserve a treat. I’m drinking a cup of this. Now I am backing slowly away from the computer. If I make a sudden move I might kick the d@mn thing. Good night.

I love cats. I love alone time. I love sitting indoors on a cold winter night with a book or my knitting while drinking tea. I don’t have a sense of smell, so many of the more subtle flavors of tea escape me. Two of the things I CAN taste are bitter and sour, so any tea that has even a slightly bitter taste is nasty for me. And what others might perceive as pleasant tartness may be horribly sour for me.

I’m also a writer. I love writing, and a mug of hot tea helps me get through the hours sitting in front of the computer. Although I’m a comparatively new tea drinker, I’m jumping in feet first. Feel free to recommend any teas you think I might enjoy.

100-91 – Wowza! I want to keep this tea in the cupboard all the time.
75-90 – Very nice. It would be good to have this tea on hand from time to time.
60-74 – OK. Wouldn’t keep it in the cupboard, but I would drink it again.
45-59 – If a friend served this I would drink it to be polite, but it’s not really my cuppa.
Lower than 45 – Blech. It was too sour or bitter for my taste. Would not drink it again.
