Here in North Dakota it is cold, Cold, COLD! 10:30 on Saturday morning and it is -19F with a windchild of -42F. This cold snap started 8 days ago. We haven’t been above zero since last Tuesday, when the temperature topped out at 2. ABOVE!!! And we won’t get above zero again until next Tuesday when the high is expected to be 6.

All that is to explain why I love to drink hot tea. It is so soothing and wrming when you live in a place where the air hurts your face .

Cranberry Pear is an old favorite. Last night i decided I deserved to splurge a little so instead of my usual Twinings Pure Peppermint for my evening cup I went with this one. The 100 gram tin is almost empty! I can see the bottom of the tin! I do not plan to buy more tea, but if this were still available i would buy another 50 grams. I suppose it does me no good to hoard this tea. There is probably enough to two or three mroe cups. Maybe ill finish it off during this cold snap.

We’re not quite there, but if the temp makes double digits today, I’m treating myself to stepping outdoors for a minute :)

Martin Bednář

Oh well, that’s terrible. And I am complaining here with temperatures about -10 C

Courtney

Maddy we are similar here! It was -42° C this week for most of the week and today we’ve finally warmed up to -24° C with the wind chill!

That is COLD. I checked the site, i thought they would have cranberry pear. (They don’t.) I think anyone should keep teas they rated 100 around. :D

Had this in the afternoon today. It is quite old, like maybe two years old. I miss A Quarter to Tea.

This one sounded wonderful. Maybe it was the age, but Ididn’t get a lot of flavor out of it. Some gonger and cinnamon, but no bready pancake goodness. That aid, it was a pleasant cup. Not one I would rush out and buy more of (fortunate, then, that Q2T is not selling right now) but I’ll enjoy the remaining 20 ounces of this.

I hope you mean 2 ounces and not 20 ounces!

Maddy Barone

Ooops! I think I meant 20 grams! But probably 2 ounces is close too.

This was my evening cup last night. It sounded like a good evening blend for someone with stuffy nose. It didnt work for me at all. I don’t know why. All the ingredients are ones I enjoy. It got good reviews. I guess it just wasn’t my cuppa.

This was my afternoon cup today. It’s not super cold hehre right now, around 27, but a littel foggy and dreary. So I decided t go though the teas I did drink from my advent calendars in December, and came up with this one.

I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. Darned nose can’t smell anything so I really have no idea about the taste. A bit bitter at the end of the sip. I drank half the cup, then poured it out and re-steeped. It wasn’t bitter, but now a little astringent. It’s a shame. In the past I’ve enjoyed caramel teas like Mrs Patmore’s pudding tea and Marco Polo. Maybe it’s time to start adding honey to my tea.

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 10 OZ / 295 ML

Oh, Marco Polo! I haven’t had that in ages…so, so, so very good!

Not my favorite at all. I don;’t know what made it so unpalatable for me. maybe the floral? At any reate, I did not even finish the cup. I had enough leaf for another cup but I tossed it. Too bad. It sure sounded good!

This was my tea last night. I am not allowed alcohol for medical reasons, so I thought this might be an acceptable replacement. I did not stay up to midnight either.

This tea was part of my Bird & Blend tea advent calendar. I simply couldn’t keep up with the calendars, so I will have plenty of new teas to try the rest of this winter. This one brewed up a dark pink color, almost red. A little spicy. Way too much hibiscus for my taste. My brother LOVES zing-y teas with hhibiscus, but to me it is just sour. I’m glad I got to try it, but this will not be a re-order for me.

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 30 sec

I didn’t keep up with any of mine either, so you have plenty of company there!

Plum Deluxe Advent Te Calendar Day 11

I have decided to just move forward with the advent calendars. I’m not going to beat myself up or try to rush to catch up, and if I miss a day, I can always go back in January and try them then. I want to enjoy my tea, not make it a chore.

So. I enjoyed this one. I got a nice creamy, almond-y scent from the dry leaf, a bit or orange flavor in the sip. It was a little more artificial than I like. As I said, I enjoyed it. If a friend served this I would happily drink it. But I do not plan to order any.

Plum Deluxe Advent Calendar Day 10

This wasn’t bad. I like a caffeine free tea in the evening, but usually they are herbal or honeybush or rooibos. So a black tea is different.

This isn’t strickly a black tea though. It is flavored, and I kinda like the flavor profile. Sorta chocloate-y, sorta vanilla-y, with an underlying nutty note. I did enjoy this one. Maybe some day, like 5 years from now, I will have drunk a substantial bit of my tea drawer and have room for more. This could be an order at that point.

I think I’d buy this one based on the title alone!

Bio

I love cats. I love alone time. I love sitting indoors on a cold winter night with a book or my knitting while drinking tea. I don’t have a sense of smell, so many of the more subtle flavors of tea escape me. Two of the things I CAN taste are bitter and sour, so any tea that has even a slightly bitter taste is nasty for me. And what others might perceive as pleasant tartness may be horribly sour for me.

I’m also a writer. I love writing, and a mug of hot tea helps me get through the hours sitting in front of the computer. Although I’m a comparatively new tea drinker, I’m jumping in feet first. Feel free to recommend any teas you think I might enjoy.

100-91 – Wowza! I want to keep this tea in the cupboard all the time.
75-90 – Very nice. It would be good to have this tea on hand from time to time.
60-74 – OK. Wouldn’t keep it in the cupboard, but I would drink it again.
45-59 – If a friend served this I would drink it to be polite, but it’s not really my cuppa.
Lower than 45 – Blech. It was too sour or bitter for my taste. Would not drink it again.
