ugh, David’s WHY did you have to re-do this blend? It has been changed and it is a lot more floral. Before I used to love this one because the oat and cinnamon gave it a really nice cookie flavour when you added agave. Now it was more rose than anything else. I didn’t and couldn’t finish more than half my cup. It may look prettier but yeah, it now tastes like ass. Changing my rating way down because of the new blend.

Oh, no! I didn’t know they changed it. I loved the oatmeal cookie flavour.

Tina S.

I didn’t know either until I went for a cuppa since I’d run out at home. It is definitely no longer the oatmeal cookie. At least it is one more tea I don’t need to restock?

Ass flavored tea does not sound like something I’d like to try, to be quite honest.

drank Birthday Cake by DAVIDsTEA

After trying this one at home with milk and sugar added, I think I know why it isn’t a favourite of mine. Self-confession time, I’m the type of person who begrudgingly eats all the cake first to make the world happy while I’d be happier with just a plate of icing. I eat it separate so that nasty cake stuff doesn’t pollute the best sweet sugary part. This tea makes me have to have them combined, and honestly my inner five year old sits back and doesn’t wanna. Sorry birthday cake tea, I think I’ll go back to faking a love of cake to cover an addiction to icing.

Don’t feel bad … when I was in college, finals food was a tub of Betty Crocker fudge frosting, straight up with a spoon!

Okay, so this week has absolutely sucked for me. As a bit of a soul soothing consolation prize I made this one cold steeped when I got out-patiented from emerg on Friday, and have been nursing the pitcher ever since. This is definitely one of my all time favourite teas from David’s and was exactly the tea I needed to get even a small smile on my face.

drank Chocolate Cake by DAVIDsTEA

This one was . . . mediocre to me. I’m going to set that up to the fact that I’m not a big fan of chocolate cake, though. To me it tastes fake, not like true chocolate flavour, and the tea follows suit. It wasn’t bad, but I’d take the ice cream cake over this one any day.

I have a love/hate relationship with tea depending on how it is brewed. If brewed well, it is delicious, full of flavour and fruity and not even needing sweetener (although I do love it with some agave.)

If its brewed badly, this can taste . . . just gross. And I also find that if you add sugar it ruins it. Luckily tonight I remembered all of this and brewed it really nicely and perfectly, and with a dash of agave. A litre later, I’m a tea-logged happy girl.

drank Cranberry Pear by DAVIDsTEA

I love this tea. I had it as a to-go cup today since I didn’t have time for anything to be iced, and was definitely not disappointed. When I pulled the bag I saw that it was a nice blend of the fruit and the tea, which I know doesn’t always happen. But this time I got someone who knew what she was doing and made me a perfect cuppa. Mmmmm.

Had this one today for my first cup at work. This time I brewed it in an infuser instead of a bag to see how that changed things. Sadly, it reinforced the fact that this isn’t a tea for me. The marzipan dominates, and I was hoping it would be more orange. The notes of fruit are there most definitely, but they are the undercurrent rather than the body. If anyone likes almond/marzipan, please let me know so I can share this with you!

drank Moroccan Mint by The Tea Haus

I seem to be on a mint kick lately. Whatever caused it, it is a very yummy kick to be on. Today was my first and still favourite mint tea, so mellow and perfect for a morning where I needed to be eased into consciousness and just . . . living. The mint is balanced deliciously with the green, and if brewed in traditional style this tea gives good froth, too. Darn, and now my mug is empty. I blame the cat.

It has surprised me for a while now that while I love mints, I often dislike pure mint tea. So when a friend sent me this one I was hesitant and yet hopeful, after a string of disappointments. And thankfully this one didn’t disappoint. It’s lovely and minty without being overpowering and finally I have found a pure mint leaf tea that I can keep for those days my tummy needs one and for blends. :D

drank Ice Cream Cake by DAVIDsTEA

Enough people have reviewed this one already that I won’t get into the details of the tea itself so much as my reactions to it. Dry it looks really cute with the sprinkles and that in there. When I pulled the infuser though I regretted all that cute stuff since it left a ring of . . . melted fake ice cream maybe? . . . around the entire thing. The tea also had that slightly creamy floaty thing that Lime Gelato and Southern Belle were known for.

Tastewise it is a really nice sweet creamy tea. I got a vanilla cream from it, and was surprised that when I added some sugar I actually lost some of the flavour. I didn’t add milk but I suspect that for me this one is best sipped black. It isn’t one that I’m going to rush out to stock up on, especially since it left residue at the bottom of my cup, but I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to.

Bio

An avid tea addict in the GTA, Ontario, Canada. I’m always looking for new teas and new tea addicted friends!

My preference is loose leaf of all varieties, however the occasional bagged tea can come along and charm me. Flavoured or straight, there is a good chance that I will be falling in love.

My ratings system is based on the smiley faces above the ratings scale.

0-10 — This tea didn’t get past the initial sip process. I just couldn’t bring myself to drink more, I found it so horrible.

11-50 — It made it past first sips, but as I drank a bit more I realized I really wasn’t enjoying the tea, and would never drink it again.

51-60 — I probably made it through the cup, but won’t be trying another one.

61-69 — Either it’s a mystery tea and I can’t decide if I like it or not, or it is one that I felt was purely adequate.

70-85 — These are the teas that I appreciate and/or like. If they are falling in this area they are ones that I would definitely re-buy, however are not ones that I must always have on hand. The good, but not the amazing.

86-94 — These are the favourites. My cupboard feels empty if they aren’t inside.

95-100 — Tea perfection!
