drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA

Icky morning before an icky day, so I made myself a comfort drink this morning. Did this one up as a double strength latte, sweetened with brown sugar and the milk blended with pumpkin pie spices. It hasn’t fixed my icky morning, but it did bring me at least a small smile.

drank Hazelnut Cream by The Tea Haus

I’m not a big nut person, but when I had multiple friends raving about this tea, I had to try it. And they were right, I wasn’t disappointed. There’s a nice creamy nutty flavour here, mellow and light but still lovely. It allows the tea to have its moment as well, making the blend the star rather than either of the individual notes. I can definitely see why people love this one and I may need to get more next time I’m at the store!

drank The Earl of Lemon by DAVIDsTEA

Grabbed my usual 10g of this one today when at the store to try it out. Dry it smells lovely, all lemony with no backhints or anything making me question if I’m going to like it. Once brewed my first sips were mostly a light lemon flavouring, making me wonder where the cream was, other than in the ever so slight floaties I saw as I pulled my infuser. A few more sips and I found the cream and it added a nice note. As the cup cooled, though, I found that I noticed the flavour less and less, and just kept drinking it because it was there more than anything else.

It is a nice tea, but I don’t think I’ll be restocking since I already have a white lemon which I prefer. Still, this is the first tea from Davids in a while that I’ve given a solid ranking to!

drank Chai Guarana by DAVIDsTEA

Had this one to-go after dinner tonight while my friend Colin got his iced Forever Nuts. The boy said he hated tea to me last time we went out so I dragged him over to the wall and found one he enjoyed to prove him wrong. Now he gets it on his own at work sometimes :D

Anyways, this tea this time was very different to when I brewed it at home. There was a lot more cardamom on me than I normally like. It wasn’t a bad cuppa, but wasn’t a great one. Not changing the rating yet, but now I’m kinda glad I didn’t stock up on this one either.

drank Funnel Cake by Say Tea

I was half asleep this morning when brewing my tea and put this one in the infuser instead of the French Vanilla I’d been planning on. Oh well, an herbal for breakfast isn’t a bad thing! Especially when it smells almost exactly like David’s Forever Nuts, one of my favourite must-haves. Brewed I found it light but lovely, exactly like the dessert the tea professes to emulate. There are hints of cinnamon and sugar and all those delightful things that I love in a dessert, minus the grease of the actual cakes. I can see why people enjoy this one, although I’m not sure if I like it more than my Forever Nuts.

drank Coconut Cream Pie by 52teas

Last tea of the night, tonight. I was craving dessert and so I tried to curb the urge with a tea. This tea has so much potential, it is creamy and coconut flavoured and so much yum, however I need to remember not to steep it at boiling, as the black base is too harsh for my tastes.

Mmmm I liked this even more this time. Curious, I did two steeps tonight. Both steeps were fairly consistent in flavour, something which I attribute to the fact that it is a strong percentage of rooibos brewed in the style of a black. There is little chai spice here, but the caramel is extremely present and pleasant. More and more I think I’ll be restocking this one.

First steep was 2 min, second was 3 min, both at boiling.

drank Orange Pekoe by Tim Hortons

This was my morning cuppa this morning since I didn’t have time to brew one myself. It was this or an iced capp and I wanted less sugar and more . . soothing. For me Tim’s tea reminds me of Red Rose, nothing extraordinary but at the same time not a bad cup. It does when on the road or in a rush.

(Standard order is medium tea, milk, sugar, double cup, bag in.)

drank Chocolate Chili Chai by DAVIDsTEA

Is there anything better than a cup of tea out of a brand new pot that you found dirt cheap and are already in love with? I initiated my new pot tonight with this one, and it went extremely nicely with what I was craving after dinner. I had it with just a pinch of sugar, which brings out the chocolate for me. Mmmmm.

I wasn’t as in love with this one this time around, but that could be because I’ve been drinking blacks all day. It does have a strong blueberry flavour to it, and I could see myself having this one again if it was offered at a friend’s house. Still definitely very grateful for having the chance to try it!

Bio

An avid tea addict in the GTA, Ontario, Canada. I’m always looking for new teas and new tea addicted friends!

My preference is loose leaf of all varieties, however the occasional bagged tea can come along and charm me. Flavoured or straight, there is a good chance that I will be falling in love.

My ratings system is based on the smiley faces above the ratings scale.

0-10 — This tea didn’t get past the initial sip process. I just couldn’t bring myself to drink more, I found it so horrible.

11-50 — It made it past first sips, but as I drank a bit more I realized I really wasn’t enjoying the tea, and would never drink it again.

51-60 — I probably made it through the cup, but won’t be trying another one.

61-69 — Either it’s a mystery tea and I can’t decide if I like it or not, or it is one that I felt was purely adequate.

70-85 — These are the teas that I appreciate and/or like. If they are falling in this area they are ones that I would definitely re-buy, however are not ones that I must always have on hand. The good, but not the amazing.

86-94 — These are the favourites. My cupboard feels empty if they aren’t inside.

95-100 — Tea perfection!
