310 Tasting Notes
This is the other tea I got in the mail today. I am completely incapable of leaving a bag of tea unopened in my tea drawer. It is totally Frank’s fault that I ordered this one. When he told me that I could order the Chai with Chocolate without the milk chocolate chips, he slyly also told me that I could order this one without the milk chocolate chips. Since malt might be one of my favorite flavors in this world, I couldn’t resist. So, this batch that I am drinking is also completely vegan.
I love this. It’s like the American Tea Room Choco*Late, but mellower… without the woodsy bite of the rooibos. The honeybush is perfect for this. I don’t know why there aren’t more honeybush teas out there (instead of rooibos). This also reminds me of the Neapolitan Honeybush, which I also liked, but without the strawberry mingled in. I’m definitely enjoying this one.
Preparation
Hooray, my 52teas order has arrived! I’ve been missing this one ever since I finished off my sample. So glad to have more of it. This is from a non-chocolate-chip batch (which Frank says you can ask for with this tea) so it’s completely vegan. Off to read a book on my last day of vacation.
Preparation
Lizbet sent me a sample of this one. I’ve tried it before in Starbucks and I think it’s a little better brewed at home (maybe less water per sachet). I really don’t know why they call this vanilla. It’s more like cinnamon apple with a slightly odd taste of… wax lips.
Preparation
Finished off the last of this sample. It wasn’t quite enough tea leaves so it was a little weak. Perhaps the weakness of this last cup will keep me from immediately ordering more. But, I did look and it’s only $3 for an ounce so it is definitely going on the shopping list. I also noticed that Chi of Tea is selling samples for a dollar. I love dollar samples. So, I see myself ordering this tea and some samples (esp the coconut nilgiri) soon.
Preparation
The name of this tea intrigued me more than anything else. I mean anything with the words ‘Battlestar Galactica’ in the name has to be good right?
It’s just ok for me. It’s a lot like a hot raspberry lemonade. The lemon in this is a tart lemon, not a creamy lemon. Definitely too much lemongrass in this blend. But it is drinkable.
Thanks JoeCool (Nicole) for sending this to me to try.
Update – lowering my rating as I seem to like this less and less as I drink it (or maybe as it cools).
Preparation
Alas, alack! I made it, but then, I still like it. Heh. I do find it interesting, though, that Nicole thought there was too little lemongrass while you found there was too much. (As stated in my reply to Nicole, I don’t like overt lemongrass flavor either! Bleh!) Perhaps the percentages in Adagio blends are always different from bag to bag … an off-putting thought! Lemongrass, lemongrass: why are you so changeably fickle? :P
Ah well. Perhaps I should rework this blend. HWDFI: How Would Dwight Flavor It? XP
OK, so take this with a grain of salt because I don’t like earl grey/bergamot which smells like men’s cologne… why does anyone want that in their tea? Anyway, Lizbet sent me a sample of this (a tiny sample since she knows my feelings on earl grey) and I’m actually surprised by this one. It’s not great, but it’s not sink worthy either. I barely taste a hint of chocolate and a hint of lemon, and maybe if I try and think about it hard enough, I might get a hint of bergamot. Mostly, this one just tastes like black tea to me… with something. Thanks Lizbet for adding an exception to my earl grey rule.
Preparation
This might be one of the best smelling teas ever. I opened the package and smelled a strong candy-like smell of vanilla and caramel. It smelled so good that I was very skimpy with the tea leaves so I could make sure that I had at least two cups of it. Once brewed it still smells pretty good and has a nice real vanilla flavor. It reminds me a lot of Harney’s Vanilla Comoro but maybe a bit better. This is a really nice tea.
Thanks much JoeCool (Nichole) for sending me a sample of this.
1 tsp/10 oz.
Preparation
I’ve been in a real blueberry place lately, so I was happy to find this in my mailbox this morning. This tastes like the same tea as Special Teas Blueberry Cocktail which I ran out of a long time ago. It’s pretty good. It has a strong blueberry flavor and some grape flavor too. But… I just had the Rishi Blueberry Rooibos a couple of days ago and I’m buying the Rishi over this tea.
Thanks JoeCool (Nichole) for sending this to me!
Preparation
Mmm. I’ve been dying for some blueberry tea… for days. So yesterday I checked my mailbox and found a surprise tea package from Lizbet and it smelled like blueberries before I even opened the package. I’m so happy to have a cup of blueberry tea today. Thanks Lizbet!!!! I think I’ve tried this one before and I like it a lot more this time.
Update – I’ve been thinking about this one since I had it a couple of days ago and plan to buy it when I hit Whole Foods tomorrow.
Preparation
It grew on me too! It’s weird because I thought I’d sent it to you already but I kept finding that sample in my pile of things to send to you even when I thought I’d removed it. It wanted to come your way. :)
