drank Crème Brulée by DAVIDsTEA

This is my second time trying this one. I forgot to log it last time. This tea is full of a butterscotch pudding like flavor and I really dig it when I am in the mood for caramel or butterscotch flavored tea. I can taste the rooibos in this a little bit but it’s not overpowering. It’s better than any caramel rooibos I’ve tried. The dry leaves of this tea are really beautiful too!

drank Cocomama Lime by DAVIDsTEA
310 tasting notes

Backlogging – I got a sample of this tea in my tea order. I am really glad they sent this one because I seriously had no interest at all in lime in my tea. But wow. This is good. I am happy I divided this tiny sample into 2 cups because I am going to want more. Sadly, I have to save up my tea purchases to get DavidsTea because of the high shipping costs, so by the time I run out of tea, this seasonal tea will probably be gone.

It took me a while to figure out exactly what this tastes like. Have you ever had that margarita in a bucket? The kind where you add the mix and the tequila in a bucket and put it in the freezer? That’s it. That is what it tastes like. That sweet liquid that you suck out of the frosty ice shavings. Nom!

I wonder how much it would cost to get someone from Canada to ship some in a padded envelope? I’d think it would only be a few bucks for shipping but I am not sure. I unfortunately do not have any decent tea stores near my house to volunteer to get tea from for a Canadian. I could offer up some samples of things from my house in exchange for the effort if anyone is interested.

Vanilla Comoro! I’m dying to try that tea and will be happy to snag some Cocomama for you next time I head to DavidsTea in exchange!

Kristin

That would be great. I have some of that. I have it in the tea bags. I’ll pay you for the tea and the shipping and then send you some Vanilla Comoro for the effort! Thanks. Send me a message when ready to swap!

Kristin

Oh, and 50g is a good amount for me.

Uniquity

Hahaha, Lady Kitty Katt is going to end up buying a pound of vanilla comoro in the next few months, I bet!

Kristin

Yeah, that Vanilla Comoro is like crack!

Daddyselephant

I’ve already been eying Harney & Sons because they have the Alice in Wonderland tea set I’m dying for…this might just tip the scales into my actually making an order!

Daddyselephant

Ack! So darn cute!

Uniquity

Total side note, have you tried DT’s Lime Bang? I reallly like it.

Kristin

No, I haven’t tried that one. I’ll have to see if it’s available next time.

drank Glitter & Gold by DAVIDsTEA

Backlogging – Right after I posted that DavidsTea flavored tea was flavor with tea, not tea with flavor, I drank this one. This one is more of a tea with flavor. It has a nice black tea base that is not bitter or astringent. There is a nice cinnamon flavor to this tea. The gold balls provide a slight shimmer to the brewed tea.

It’s probably my least favorite of the bunch so far, but it’s still tasty.

drank Baked Apple by DAVIDsTEA

Backlogging – I had this tea last night. It smells great in the bag. Once brewed it still smells great but it is a little weak. It tastes like walnuts and granny smith apples. The walnut flavor is strong and the apple flavor is weak. I will try more tea and a longer steep next time and see how it goes. I still liked it even though it was a bit weak.

2 tsp/12 oz for 8 min at boiling.

drank Bear Trap by DAVIDsTEA

Nom. This is exactly what I wanted tonight. It’s one of the best fruity teas I’ve ever had. Lots of fresh raspberry flavor with a slightly sour lemony background flavor.

I need to try this again. I love raspberry and one of my very few complaints with DavidsTea is that they don’t really have a raspberry tea, the Raspberry Nectar isn’t nearly raspberry-enough for me. I’m biased against herbals, so when I tried this one, I was already kinda set against not liking it. But it sounds like I definitely need to give it another go, maybe iced!

Uniquity

Lol, I just warned you off raspberry enctar in another post, LadyKittyKat. I don’t really get a strong raspberry flavour from my tin of Bear Trap, but it depends on the scoop, I know. It is quite yummy though!

Kristin

Interesting! I had a lot of raspberry in my cup. I’ll comment if the next cup is different.

Daddyselephant

Now, my wife made french toast with this once and it was beyond delicious…so many herbals do have a purpose XD

Backlogging – I really like this tea. It is very hard to explain though. It’s coconutty and slightly fruity. I am always worried about any raspberry flavors in tea (never works for me), but I go this one because of all of the awesome reviews. It definitely does not disappoint. One thing I have noticed about DavidsTeas (which I like) is that the flavors are more prominent that the tea base. So if you are looking for a tea with some flavors, then DavidsTea flavors are not for you. If you are looking for flavors with some tea, then this is perfect. I’m really digging DavidsTea… can you tell?

drank Goji Pop by DAVIDsTEA
310 tasting notes

I got a sample of this in my DavidsTea order that arrived today. I was at work so I grabbed the sample and made a cup of it right before a meeting. After it steeped a couple of minutes I added some agave nectar to it so I could just remove the bag and give it a stir in my meeting. Good to go, right. Right, unless I forgot to bring a spoon and forgot about the agave. I drank half of it unsweetened and then realized it and swirled the sweetener into the other half for a very sweet second half of the cup.

I like this tea. I’m not sure I would order it, but I enjoyed it. It is lemony and tastes like some sort of berry that I cannot identify; probably because I’ve never had a Goji berry before. It’s fruity, in a real fruit kind of way and has no medicinal qualities. Nom!

Yay!!! I’m glad you got to try it!

drank Vanilla Oolong by Adagio Teas
310 tasting notes

I apologize for not remembering who sent me this sample!

The unsteeped dry leaves of this tea look old, dusty, and broken. I brewed it for 3 min at boiling. It’s just ok. It’s hard to judge it without comparing it to Harney’s Vanilla Comoro, which I seem to be drinking non-stop lately. This tea is clearly inferior to the Vanilla Comoro. The vanilla flavor in this tea is more like vanilla milkshake and has a slightly chocolately flavor, as if the milkshake was made with soy milk (not a bad flavor, just not what I want in vanilla tea). The oolong is completely lost in the flavor.

drank Florence by Harney & Sons

I loved this when I had a sample of it. Now that I have a whole tin, I feel very meh about it. Maybe the sample was from a batch that was better? It’s still good, I’m just not doing any cartwheels about it and there is no driving force to make this tea.

That sounds a terrible situation to be in! I “advise” (:D) shoving it in the back of the cupboard and forgetting about it for a month or two so you can re-discover it. Sometimes that works wonders! : )

Kristin

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking of trying to trade my co-worker for 1/2 of it for some more of that coffee almond.

Uniquity

Also a good plan, as long as you end up with tea that you like!

drank Oriental Beauty by Ten Ren

This is a really nice tea but I think I brewed it too weak so I am not going to rate it. I used 3g to about 9 oz water at 185 F for 2 1/2 min and I gave the leaves a quick wash before really steeping. It is the color of gold and is really pretty in my glass Bodum insulated mug. The taste is very light for me (probably used too much water for the tea). I am getting mostly floral notes in both the taste and the smell.

Thanks Lizbet for the sample!
