218 Tasting Notes
This was one of the teas from my swap with Michelle. As a peppermint, it was fine, not the best I’ve ever had though. Probably something to do with the non-organic nature of the tea and the fact it was bagged. But fine! I’d seek it out at a hotel or meeting where bagged is the only option. Its giving my Gorgeous Geisha some new notes too!
Preparation
After steeping it up for my smoothie, I did a re-steep for my timolino. ITs come out well, but I think the thermos needed a more ferocious scrub after having a peppermint tea in it yesterday, I’m getting green strawberries and mint! Its quite tasty, just unexpected.
I made a standard steeper of this to put in my green smoothie as a base this morning (my Blendtec arrived, so naturally I had to try it out!). I made it up hot, even to go in a green smoothie, because its winter and my TCM Dr tells me I have a cold constitution and I should eat and drink warm things at the moment. No arguments here, it seems to work for me! The strawberry tones of this tea worked really well in my smoothie, adding a bit extra sweetness to drown out the weird fishy taste of my spirulina and chlollera supplements. I might just have to do that again!
I can’t wait until summer, I imagine making iced tea slushies in a Blendtec is pretty easy to do.
I’m making a concerted effort to get through my sample boxes, and this is another one from Michelle. I brewed up one sachet in my Timolino. Its a tasty dessert tea, great for a bit of fun (or needed perking up today given my horrendous night’s sleep). It does taste like a sugar cookie, which to me means tasty and a nice treat, but nothing exceptional, and the tea gets this spot on, so they’ve done well there. I can get why this would be nice on a northern Christmas.
In happy news, its Thursday so its yoga day for me, I can’t wait for my class this afternoon. And my tax return self present, a Blendtec, arrived earlier. Can’t wait to make my green smoothie in the morning (with green tea as the base of course!
Preparation
Sipping on the last of my last of this. Another sipdown, and one I’m sad to do! This is a lovely tea, definitely goes in the dessert category but that hasn’t stopped me having a cup or two for breakfast. Also been good for those days where you just need some chocolate, of which this is on. If I ever do a DTT order this will be on my list! Thanks for the sample Azz!
This was another from my swap with Azzrian (my, that was at last Christmas and I’m still working through it all… Must remember to clear cupboard then swap…). I’m sure I’ve tasted this but not logged it before too.
I made this to take to work this morning. Its fine. Tasty, not bitter, berryish. Just not mind blowing. I’ll happily finish it off but not something I’d love to order. But I do like how my sample bags came printed with my name on it, lovely touch!
Preparation
I’ve been swapping between this and the Vanilla Chai quite extensively because they’re really tasty, Whole30 compliant, and brew with ease (and even tolerate some brewing errors well). I didn’t want to bore you all with repeats of how much I love them both so I’ve calmed down on the repeated posts a bit! But I have been drinking them both, and loving them!
The JEM is surprisingly resilient to some oversteeping. Like yesterday, when I timolino-ed up the tea, then got flooded with phone calls and it ended up getting a 10 minute steep. Usually a travesty for a sencha, but there was only the faintest hint that it had been in the water too long, and even then I’m not sure if it was bitterness or just too much flavouring ending up in the water. Just awesome.
