218 Tasting Notes
Tasting note 200! Woohoo!
I had another one of these awaiting me in my Timolino after I finished my barre class this morning. I actually think I’ve been fighting off a cold (this is a major major thing for me, I used to see a cold then be flat in bed for a week with the cold, then also acquire the flu or a chest infection… not fun. Yay for all those veggies I’ve been eating!), so I would’ve loved a spot of honey in this, but alas, I’m playing by the Whole30 rules.
Still a lovely cuppa.
I started a Whole30 today (http://mymissingfactor.wordpress.com/2013/06/30/one-is-never-enough/), which means some teas are out. Not this one though! Beautiful mix of real spices in black tea. So good…
looking forward to seeing how you tackle the next 30 days! Hope you kill it! :) sending positive vibes your way!
i haven’t…the closest i’ve done to anything like that was a crack at phase 1 on the south beach diet. We did it last year because i needed to get a handle on what i was eating – what was nice was learning and actually taking the time to think about what i was putting in to my body. Made me much more aware of what i eat, even if i’m not actually “dieting” or sticking to something like whole30. The way our apartment/life is set up right now isn’t really condusive to being able to have the space/time that these things take to shift habits…so we’re at least trying to think about the things we buy and have in the apartment as a baby step to when we move to a house…
I applaud your efforts :)
good luck! I quit it to go to a sort of lower carb/less insistence on stuff I can’t afford way of eating. It was bringing me down in that sense, and it’s a struggle for me to eat breakfast, and I got sick of it. Still I feel I got the right idea on everything wrong with how I ate and I think in the 11 days I did get through I lost 1 inch from my waist and almost 2 from my hips and yet I am eating until I am so full.
I think anything that makes you more aware of what is healthy for your body and what makes it work best is awesome.
I’ve been steadily drinking this and only just realised when I made my current cup that I’m down to the last few spoonfuls! And even thought I burned my tounge on the cup I just made, its still really tasty. I’d buy this again.
Finally having this sample from my Christmas order. So yummy! Undertones of the oolong with a big, cake like vanilla as the prominent flavour. A nice cuppa.
Compensating for my pile of stupid from this morning. I leaped over my shoes to sit down and put socks on prior to riding to my barre class, but hit my knee cap on the pointy edge of the coffee table. Nice liney bruise with the need for icing and rest. But I do have the oolong.
I can’t believe I haven’t added or review this before! Shocking.
This is a lovely tea. The jasmine and earl grey flavours are perfectly balanced without overpowering the black. My prefered steeping method for this is on the short side to ensure the black is still lovely and soft.
Would make an excellent afternoon tea, but its perking me up this morning. Very easily sipped.
And, more importantly, I posted my first blog post about tea this morning: http://mymissingfactor.wordpress.com/2013/06/20/mugful-of-happiness/
Preparation
Seriously, what do they put in this? Rainbows and puppies and happiness? Its just so unbelievably awesome every time I have a cup, and can cope with a bit of a beating, like my desperately needs a good bi carb scrub Timolino, or some not quite perfect brewing temperature and timing. Stellar work, RHTB!
Ah poop. I really hate it when work gets in the way of my steep timing. Like with this one. I ended up having to take a few phone calls, and before I realised it’d been steeping for around 12 minutes. Its ended up quite bitter, but just drinkable when I first sip it, but after a minute the sweetness comes through. So there is great potential here when I’m not distracted and can manage a better steep. I’ll rate it when its brewed correctly.
And this is another from my swap with Michelle, that this morning I realised I’d not sampled yet. Dearie me Michelle you’re generous! Still need to finish the box!
