Additional notes: I’m enjoying my Angry Tea Room advent from three years ago interspersed with other teas. This one is holding up pretty well and actually tastes even better with 1 1/4 teaspoons. There is still a ton of that creamy flavor. I still have many more teaspoons… I could be doing this advent for the next three years… or more. haha. Raising the rating a bit from 70.
Day #5 – This one is pretty straight forward — a black tea with plenty of creme brulee flavor. I definitely understand the creme brulee here! I would love a tastier black tea with that flavor though. I’m not sure what type of base tea it is, but it seems like Ceylon which is never my favorite. The creme brulee is nice though. I hope everyone loves my non-flourished tasting notes. I basically just tell ya if it tastes like what it’s supposed to. This one does anyway!
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3-4 minute steep
Day #4 – A dark looking oolong that should have pomegranate flavor. But the flavor is very light. The pom is so light that if I didn’t see it in the name, I wouldn’t have noticed. The oolong is so dark it could almost be roasted, but it definitely doesn’t have that type of flavor. A sweet, buttery oolong is the oolong I’d prefer though!
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // few minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
ARRAGHH, I hate when I have tasting notes written and then they disappear. Anyway. Day #3 and here we have a black tea with hints of orange, cranberry and hibiscus. I didn’t see much in the blend other than black tea, so I’m glad the hibiscus didn’t take over. Just hints of cranberry so I would have loved to have more cranberry elements and flavor here. This base was not as strong as the base for Chestnut from a couple days ago.
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 3 minute steep
March Mad(Hatter) Tea Tournament!
Round #1 – Match #16 Harney & Sons – Yellow Fairy VS. Angry Tea Room – Pumpkin Patch Chai
The Yellow Fairy! You can’t buy this stuff anymore. It was originally amazing, now has since faded. However, the Pumpkin Patch Chai was never pumpkin or chai in my opinion, so it was basically failing on all levels. It’s really THE BUBBLEGUM TEA in my mind, and that is just nothing this is supposed to be. What a fail. It’s a decent cup if I’m not aware of the name. So basically the winner by default is: Yellow Fairy

I really miss having a chance to read everyone’s tasting notes! I just took a gander at the dashboard and saw a few Steepsterers that had been missing for a while had returned. That’s always good to see! Hope all of you are well!
Day #2 – This was the tea for yesterday, but when I drink rooibos, I usually have a second steep the next night. So first steep was last night and second steep was tonight. Couldn’t write the review until now! This is a chai with a honeybush base – no black tea. The spices aren’t too spicy. But there is an odd flavor of bubblegum… not sure how! The cocoa nibs don’t offer much flavor here either. Maybe I should have used two teaspoons. Otherwise, I’m just happy to have another no-caff option, especially honeybush since I rarely see those. The second steep was left alone for a while, so it had much more flavor than the first. Yum. I think Angry Tea Room’s teas have been very unique so far! This isn’t even the only pumpkin no-caff tea from Angry.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // many minute steep
Yep, it’s December already. Yep, it’s the old old old advent again! Rather than flood the tasting notes with my repeating notes for older teas for every single holiday tea I drink, I will probably just list them once in a while in an occasional tea note… I was the only one to ever write a note for this tea… meaning I was the only one on Steepster to ever buy Angry Tea Room’s advent? And now they are no longer. About half the teas in THIS advent are now gone. It just shows how long it takes me to finish teas, especially as I have made it a point to drink this advent at least once a year! It just seems even if I’m finishing around 150 packages of tea a year, even if they are sometimes samples, the number still doesn’t seem to go down very much in my actual Steepster cupboard. And as much as you all are generous, I’m definitely not acquiring 150 teas in a year either from any of you or my own purchases! I guess there are worse problems…
Holiday tea 2022 #1: Angry Tea Room – Chestnut
Holiday tea 2022 #2: Simpson & Vail – Candy Cane
They were probably gone within the last year or two. Luckily it seems my favorite blends (sometimes) are available from adagio.
Not really NEWS about Angry Tea Room.. their site is just gone and no mentions of anything about it on socials.
Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – December Theme: Holiday Teason Tea #1
additional notes: I’m already 9 days behind reading tasting notes and I forgot there is usually an avalanche of advent tea notes that I’m thrilled to read! Better catch up! I will be revisiting this OLD advent AGAIN though it is now SIX years old at this point. I won’t be writing notes for all the teas… and some are sipdowned at this point.. might skip some others to fit in other various holiday teas! A month of holiday teas! So I’m glad that it’s Mastress Alita’s challenge theme this month. This is still flavorful! And still a couple steep sessions left! Wow this advent really lasts – it will be at least eight years judging by this tea. oh buddy.
additional notes: Yep, my annual post for this tea in the OLD advent… basically keeping track of how old this advent is. haha.My Angry Tea Room advent is five years old now! Still trucking. I’ll be picking and choosing loosely which teas to have along with the Angry advent this year. :D But somehow the flavor here keeps increasing? At least my steeping parameters have been improving over the years. Also, I’m embarrassed at how I’m just now realizing that most of these are probably sourced from Adagio teas…
Yeah this fall instead of making an Angry Tea Room order, I just grabbed a bunch of stuff from Adagio.
I’ve had ATR’s same pumpkin pie flavor from Tea Guys, and it looks like they may have some other blends in common as well. And there are other ATR blends I’ve had that I thiiiiink I recognized from other sources but it’s been too long to remember.
Additional note: Yep, starting the 2016 Advent again all month! This is the advent that goes for yeeeaaaarrrrrrsssss. I haven’t actually bought any advents since this one, so there you go. It looks like most teas will keep going for a few more years! This tea is still very chestnut!
If you’re quick, for one more day they have a BOGO on their three ounce and zip pouches.
Additional notes: Starting the older Angry Tea Room advent again. I just needed to write a note to self: I used a teaspoon and a half today after a previous ‘note to self’ to only use a flat teaspoon. Luckily, I accidentally waited about 25 minutes to steep so the flavor wasn’t astringent. It was pretty good this way actually. Not astringent but very deep in flavor and the chestnut mostly translates to a sweetness. It might be best to steep it this way actually.
Additional notes: Starting last year’s Angry Tea Room advent again and this one is first. Again, I used a heaping teaspoon and again it is astringent. Argh. It really looks like it would be one of those weak black teas but I’m very glad it isn’t. I just have to remember to steep a flat teaspoon. Happy December everyone.
I just had to support Angry Tea Room this year for the Cyber Monday sale, as I love most of their teas that I have tried. And my advent calendar JUST arrived on time for Day #1!! Awesome. Each advent calendar arrives in a plastic case with a handle and 25 tins of tea that hold at least five teaspoons (probably more). The flavors seem pretty intriguing! I’m going to try to stick with the strict schedule of teas for the next 25 days! Luckily I usually have three types of tea per day, so this shouldn’t be difficult, even if I’m craving something else with the daily tea. :D
Tea number one is simply black tea with flavoring. It certainly has a tasty flavor, though I’m not sure it is chestnut (haven’t tried any of those anyway). One heaping teaspoon is almost too brisk and astringent. The flavor is pretty similar to their amazing Maple tea but there is also something different along with just that sweetness, though hard to say what that is. It’s a tea I don’t mind steeping up!
Steep #1 // 1 heaping teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 3 minute steep
The last lovely blend I have to review from Angry Tea Room. This is a magical blend. The mix actually smells very strongly of pumpkin pie! The ingredients: actual pumpkin and sweet potato, caramel, nutmeg, ginger, mace, chicory, buckwheat, toasted rice, pumpkin seeds all on a rooibos/honeybush base. The flavor is very much like pumpkin pie. Very spicy and full of goodness! Though the ingredients mention pumpkin flakes and sweet potato, I wish there were more for even more of that flavor. I wish it were a pumpkin explosion! I don’t know why more pumpkin blends don’t use pumpkin in their blends, since one pumpkin would go a long way for a tea blend. I love that is uses a rooibos and honeybush base, so this is definitely a nighttime dessert tea when you don’t happen to have pumpkin pie on hand. This blend contains stevia (I couldn’t tell) but I’m sure it is divine with rock sugar added. A delicious blend. It would brew perfectly in Angry’s ADORABLE pumpkin mugs! I’m definitely getting one!

Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// couple minutes after boiling // 4 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 minute steep
Thanks again, Angry Tea Room! This blend is CUTE not angry! It’s a black tea blend full of rose petals, strawberry, chocolate and the cutest heart sprinkles. Such a great mix of goodies in this blend! All of the flavor elements are subtle but equally subtle, so nothing steals the thunder. Wisps of rose, hints of chocolate, bits of strawberry here and there. The black tea that is medium bodied and for some reason I was tasting hints of licorice which I’ve never noticed in a tea before. I would have liked more flavors from the ingredients, but I’ll definitely try using two teaspoons next time.

Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 minute steep
additional notes: I was quite sure that adagio carried most of Angry Tea Room’s blends. Not sure about this one? Please someone inform me if you find it! I do crave this one quite a bit, and enjoy it when I steep it up. Love that dusty, dusky chocolate swirl at the bottom of the mug.
Think I found Sue’s blend here? https://www.georgetownoliveoil.com/products/chocolate-ginger-bourbon
Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – March 2023 Tea #1 – March 2 – International Irish Whiskey Day
In thinking of boozy teas, I thought of two: this one and O’connor’s Cream. So I went with this one for the day! I already miss Angry Tea Room. Not sure how close this is to alcohol, but it’s a unique blend I liked so much that I bought a full pouch of. Reading the description again, it says it was named after Sue who liked bourbon? But also made gingersnap cookies? If anything, this is a good chocolate tea imo.
Thanks again, Angry Tea Room! This one sounded interesting. It mentions that the Sue this tea is named after is a bourbon fan and I must admit now that I’ve never tried bourbon to my recollection, so I can’t attest to the accuracy of the flavors. I’d probably love bourbon, but I drink too much tea already. :D The ingredients: black tea, roasted cocoa beans, ginger, cinnamon, roasted green tea, roasted yerba mate, crystallized ginger, flavors, dark chocolate chips, dark cocoa powder (yes, I copied and pasted from Angry’s site.) Overall, this mix of ingredients results in a unique flavor all its own. It’s odd that with two ingredients that are ginger and three ingredients that are chocolate, it doesn’t seem too gingery or chocolatey. And I’d say it’s a tiny bit more ginger than chocolate. I’m usually not a ginger fan, but it works here. The base of black tea, roasted green and yerba mate becomes indistinguishable, so all three combine to create a new flavor base tea. I can’t really pick apart flavors with this one! I wish I could explain it better but it’s very interesting and darn good. I’ve never had a blend like this one (in the thousands of teas I’ve tried.) It should speak for itself. If this mix of ingredients sounds good to you (or you love bourbon), give it a try!

Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 12 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep
Thanks again, Angry Tea Room! I knew I would be in love with this blend when I opened the pouch and the scent was lovely. Though I’m not sure you could drink this for movie NIGHT since it is full of caffeine (black tea, roasted yerba mate) but if you have a lazy movie day this is perfect. I used two teaspoons because this is FULL of ingredients other than black tea, roasted yerba mate and rooibos: huge caramel balls, popcorn and corn kernels, barley and sea salt. The taste is delicious. Plenty of sweetness from the caramel. An even balance of flavors between the black tea, the roasted yerba mate with hints of rooibos. I would have loved more of a buttery and salty flavor to represent popcorn, but it ain’t lying with the caramel. The second steep even LOOKS like caramel! The caramel pieces have completely melted in the brew, leaving it a foggy caramel color. The most caramel tea I’ve ever tasted! I think I steeped both steeps perfectly. I will definitely be stocking up on this one!

Sure! I’m not sure why other Steepsterers don’t sip their teas more often. I’ve enjoyed the few I’ve tried so far.
Thanks so much, Angry Tea Room! I’ve been looking for a new favorite Earl and this might be the one. The black tea is plenty brisk and dark — I probably didn’t need to use a teaspoon and a half and I’m glad I didn’t steep this one too long or too hot. I love a murky dark black tea base for an Earl. It’s got that right. And the bergamot has to be perfect. This one might not be perfect perfect (I’m picky) but it is VERY close. The bergamot is very strong. I was sipping this outside and the fragrance was just wisping over to me. That hardly ever happens with any tea. The bergamot seems many layered, which is my favorite type: there is a floral to it but also something like a lemon myrtle flavor. The orange peels in the blend add a layer of citrus too. The second steep maintains that strong flavor. This could easily be my new favorite strong Earl!

An Ode to Tea challenge #2– S Redux
An actual sipdown to repeat for ‘S’ again. A decent lasting strawberry flavor, if you don’t mind the jello type of strawberry flavor. Even on the second steep. But it’s also very earthy flavored now. And at 102 sipdowns I just hit the total number for 2020! Yes. The goal of 130 for the year is now looking possible!
2021 sipdowns: 102
Thanks again, Angry Tea Room! Here is a lovely Orange Pekoe black tea base FULL of candy strawberry flavor. I tried to spot any strawberry pieces or strawberry leaves in my sample, but I didn’t see any. Maybe it’s just my sample. The flavor is delicious anyway. The Orange Pekoe base is light and perfect for a strawberry flavor. The second steep is just as flavorful! This would be amazing iced with sugar added. This simple blend really hits the craving for strawberries!

Flavors: Candy, Strawberry
Thanks so much, Angry Tea Room! This is a tea company I feel doesn’t find enough notice on Steepster. They have so many delicious sounding blends! Here is a lovely no caffeine option that I was very interested in trying. It sounds like a Mexican hot chocolate: plenty of chocolate ingredients, plenty of spicy ingredients with a rooibos and honeybush base. I love the addition of the saffron…it gives the blend a look of flames! I went with one heaping teaspoon as I didn’t want to overdue it with the promise of spicy ingredients. However, I shouldn’t have worried. The spiciness isn’t too bad. I could have handled a little more heat. It isn’t like some heat blends that use a lot of cayenne pepper powder. If anyone is worried the spices will be too much for you, don’t! The flavor has a nice cocoa flavor to it. Plenty of cocoa! The rooibos/honeybush base is of the very smooth sort. None of that offensive rooibos. It’s the good stuff, which is probably helped with the additional honeybush. On the second steep, the cocoa takes a backseat and the spicy flavors turn up. More cinnamon than heat, but a nice balance anyway. A unique blend I haven’t seen anywhere else. I’m not sure why this wasn’t called ‘Angry Chocolate rooibos’ though!

I need to try this company’s teas soon. I’ve had such a long wishlist that I often don’t get to the ones that I want to try for a while. I might knock them up on the list for Autumn/Winter. This sounds like it’d make a great tea for those seasons. :)
