694 Tasting Notes
TTB&C #4
I almost added this to my H&S order in Janurary, but was on a mission for flavored blacks so left this off for the time being. Now I am kicking myself for not adding 2oz to my order. I found one last cup in the box today and made this for my morning cup. It was a wonderful cup. I am not sure how to describe the taste. I usually describe this sorta flavor as a bit “meaty”. Weird I know, but that is the only way I can think to describe it. It wasn’t too strong, it had hints of coco and malt as well. This will be on my next order. I am glad there was just one more cup.

A wonderful vacation, followed by sick kid, and crazy week at work makes for a crazy week. So I have been trying a these wonderful teas from the TTB and making notes, just neglecting to post. So I apologize for the explosion of tasting notes here.
This tea is one I have been eyeing from Butikie for awhile., well lets be honest what tea haven’t I been eyeing from Butiki? This was one was nothing short of amazing. The base was wonderful with strong flavors of strawberry, tart ruhbarb, and a slight hint of pie crust. I loved it! I think my next cup of this will be with a touch of sugar. This one will definitely be on my next order.

This is another tea that has been on my wishlist for awhile. It was such a nice spring day here that I thought this would be a nice treat tonight. I was right. This is a sweet green floral oolong that has small bits of pineapple added to it. The combination is a nice light sweet tea. There is 1 cup of this tea left and I am very tempted to try it iced. I think this would be a nice cup on a hot summer days. I will have to leave this on my wishlist to order from Butiki the next time I place an order.

It seems like every time I check my dashboard VariaTEA has written something amazing about this tea. NayLynn was so nice to add a sample of this to the TTB and so when I saw it in the box it was the first tea I grabbed. I would say this lives up to the wonderful reviews. Sweet, toasty, caramely, vanilla all in one cup. This is a tea I could easily drink at night as a dessert and a relaxing cup. There is enough for a few more cups and I think I am going to have to hide the rest in the box so someone else will get the pleasure to try this tea.
Preparation
I received a sample of this from Charissa. Thank you for sharing one of your favorites from the winter.
This one I would say is the heaviest of all three of the samples Charissa sent. My first cup of this I used the word “chewy” to describe this tea. and possibly “meaty.” This cup I am getting a roasted, slightly smokey accent to the sweet and dry mouthful. I have enjoyed a few cups of this and it has been a great warming evening tea., despite the caffeine. It hits the spot on this late March snowy evening.
I really enjoy this one, but I am not sure it is one I would repurchase from Gong Fu Tea. I enjoyed the Organic Ceylon and Nilgire a bit more.

I received a sample of this from Charissa! Thank you for sharing with me.
I have had a few cups of this already and every time I am not sure what to write about this tea. It is mellow and smooth. It is a bit dry at the end of the sip. It is a lighter tea, but is not weak. The flavor fills the entire sip. There are no strong flavors that stand out, but it is well rounded. For me this is a standard black tea. (The flavor that I think of when I think black tea). As the description says I think it would be amazing iced. Hot it is amazing as well.
Preparation
I had a cup of this back in December after I first received my order and remember not really getting much out of it. I didn’t quite understand what all the hype was about. I have learned that before I decide that I dislike a tea, or that write off a tea I need to try it at least twice. This morning I embarked on this tea again. This turned out to be one of many teas where my first impression was way off.
This morning this tea was perfect. It is a subtle oolong with a lingering sweet taste. The first part of the sip is filled with the hints of oolong. The hints are not a roasty toasty, or green oolong. but more of a, I am not a black tea, sorta flavor. The last part of the sip the honey/sweet notes that round out the sip.
Preparation
This is one of the teas from the February 2014 Steepster Box.
This is one of my first Darjeelings. I am not sure what to write about this one. It is hard for me to pick out flavors in this tea. It has a very dry finish. It makes my tongue think it is a tad bit bitter at the finish of the sip, and there is a woody/fruity mouth full.
From tasting this tea I am tempted to purchase a sample set of darjeelings to see how they compare and if there are any that I would like. This one is enjoyable, but does not stand out as a tea I would purchase again.
Preparation
I have been sharing this in every swap, but have yet to write a review. I am always really excited when I find something local that is awesome! This is one of them. I can walk a block and pick up a tin and support a local business. So this will be a constant in my cupboard.
This is really hitting the spot this morning. malty, honey, without being to astringent. This tea makes me want to snuggle up with a book right now instead of working, but such is life. I can’t have the book, but I can drink this all day long!
