Oolong, and nutty goodness. This is really hitting the spot tonight. I had been on the fence about this tea, but I think it was due to the word chocolate. In my head I had envisioned a more sweet flavor instead of the roasty toasty goodness. Yum!

drank Chai Guarana by DAVIDsTEA

I received this in a box of DAVID’s teas I bought from TeaPet. Thank you!

I like chai, but unfortunately the more tea I drink the more I dislike cinnamon. The only thing I got out of this tea as cinnamon. I am glad I got to try this, but this one is not for me.

I received this in a swap from ashleyelizabeth. Thank you!

I am not sure what to think about this tea yet. I have 3 cups and one cup was meh, the other cup was good and then the third cup I drank cold and it was okay as well. I think I will have to drink it a few more times before I really make up my mind about it. I would describe this tea as bright. Very citrus with a weird finish. I wouldn’t be able to name raspberry as a flavor in the tea if given this to sip without the name, but it adds an interesting flavor to the end of the sip. it is a bit artificial tasting. For now I will have no problems finishing what I have, but not sure I would purchase this one again.

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons
694 tasting notes

I received a sample of this from ashleyelizabeth in our swap. Thank you!

This tea seems to be very popular so I was very excited to try it. I have had some good vanilla teas. A few that come to mind are Butiki, Caramel Vanilla Assam, Gong Fu Tea Shop Cream Assam, and Assam Tea Company Vanilla Ginger. I was hoping this would at least be able to be a hold its own, but not so much. The base, a decaf base, was meh and no matter how hard I tried the vanilla just didn’t come out as strong as I would have liked it. I am glad I got to try this, but it was a no go for me.

I love chai, so its not too hard to impress me on the chai front, but this chai. This chai blew my mind. I could taste the wonderful base, and all of the flavors were so amazingly mixed. This was one of those cups that I finished and then immediately went to the web site in hopes that they always kept this one around. It looks like it may be seasonal or a one time good deal, but I hope it sticks around because I am in love!

I am playing catch up from a week of lots of packages coming and not enough writing of tasting notes so sorry for the flood of notes:) I received a very generous sample of this from bluebelle.

Roasty oolongs are becoming my favorite evening wind down tea. Something about them makes me just want to cuddle up in my pj’s with my book and stay that way for a really long time. When I saw this tea in the mix of sample I got pretty excited, but the perfect time to try this kept escaping me over the past few weeks. I finally got to it this week. This was roasty, and more sweet than some of the other roasty oolongs I have had. As the sip lingered in your mouth it was almost like eating chocolate. I still got the oolong flavor, but it was mixed with a chocolaty after taste. I am not sure about this one just yet. It was enjoyable, yes, but something I crave and would buy again, I am still not sure.

I received this in a swap from Beorhthraefn. Thank you.

Yet another Butiki tea I really wanted to try. I really loved the Pumpkin Milkshake so when I saw another tea with pumpkin in it I thought I would give it a go. I was a little scared off by the cinnamon, but I am glad I went for it anyway. This is really nice. I am glad I have an 1oz to play around with. I think adding a little sugar and milk would really make the flavors pop a bit. Also I made trying adding more steep time as the first steep provided a bit of a weak base. Overall this was really nice!

drank Tower of London by Harney & Sons
694 tasting notes

I purchased 2oz of this in January. I finally busted this open and have been sipping this in the mornings at work. I have found myself craving it so I guess that means I really like this one. It is a subtle fruity flavor. I am not sure which one I like more. Paris or TofL. I will have to have a sip off one of these mornings. For now this one has been doing the trick and I would re-order when this one runs out.

drank Lemon Meringue Chai by 52teas
694 tasting notes

KallieBoo was so nice to share some of her 52 Teas with me. This was one that she allowed me to try. Thank you!

I had been eyeing this one as I love both lemon and chai. I thought this would be a great combination. It was a nicely spiced chai, but I missed any hint of lemon in the mix. I am glad I got to try some of this. I may have to keep an eye out for some more 52 chai’s. The spice seemed to cover up what I dislike about the black base.

drank Creamy Eggnog by Butiki Teas
694 tasting notes

I received a cup of this from ashleyelizabeth in our swap. Thank you for sharing with me.

This has been on my list to try for awhile so I am glad I got to sample it. This has a buttery flavor that also lent to a bit of creaminess. The green tea base was not covered up, but shone through. Since it was an eggnog tea I was expecting flavors such as nutmeg and spice, but I got none of this. It was a really good tea, just slightly different than I was expecting. I could drink this again if the opportunity presented itself.

Bio

I started drinking tea while on a 4 month long cycling trip through South America. It seemed to always be a great way to warm up when I was cold and it was always available everywhere. Mate was the big tea of choice down there and it was also a great way to get to know people. When I returned home, my sister introduced me to Teavana and this launched me into the realm of loose leaf tea.
