15103 Tasting Notes
Cards and tea travelling tea box
This tea called out to me because i have found through trial and error that i MUCH prefer tealux’s straight teas to their flavoured ones. I hadn’t tried this one yet so i figured i should give it a go. this tea is really nice and smooth, however it’s not for me. There’s a taste here that i don’t like but i suspect that others would love this. I steeped this alongside another from tealux and it is divine! while this one is just ok. I still enjoyed this but the taste just doesn’t woo me like the tones in the other cup. I can’t quite explain what the taste is, but it’s similar, though not quite, to the roasty oolong taste that i am not a huge fan of. if that makes sense haha
MissB sent this one my way and i’m SUPER glad she did. I really like this one. This is tart, sour blueberry – not that sticky sweet sort of blueberry. I suspect adding a little sweetner to this would make it delicious as well, but tonight i am enjoying the tartness of this. it’s not quite genuine blueberry taste but it is really nice. Especially since it’s a rooibos base and not a green base! wooohoo! thanks for sharing this one with me MissB!

Soooo i quite enjoy this one. it’s red rooibos, which i know some are not a fan of, but i like it, especially when it’s not that woodsy rooibos, which this is not. Steeped this for about 11 mins and it’s now a creamy delicious cup of tea. I know i’ve hard variations on this theme before and most of them are similar but this one is pretty good in my opinion. Though red rooibos haters may not agree with me :)
Terri sent this one my way in the BBB Box and i figured i’d pull it out today in an effort to work through some of my teas and not just samples :) I quite like this one – it’s not “anxi fo shu” but it is a really nice light, sweet and slightly malty tea. It’s not a thick tea though, feeling a little thin. I’d like it to be just a little more OOMPH-Y, but on the whole i quite like this one :) thanks terri!
Glad you like it! I also had a cup of this, my last cup of tea of the day. How much did you use? I went with 1 Tb to 12 oz for 4 minutes (I think…lol…something like that). Of course, I bought it because the name reminded me of Anxi Fo Shou, & of course, it’s not the same tea at all, but at least it’s tasty! :)

I tried this one out today since i am always on the hunt for new straight blacks. However, colour me unimpressed. this has a bitterness and an astringency that i wasn’t a fan of. Mostly just, an average sort of tea, that i can live without. so BOOOO on that!
auch, sorry about it being average. I will admit it doesn’t have that same sweet potato sweetness that I like in the golden yunnans(but then again its at a fraction of their price). Do you know when the tea was sold? I have a sinking feeling that you might have gotten the last of a batch and gotten more tips and bits than you should have.
i don’t, sadly as this was from the travelling teabox. I was just excited to try your teas as i haven’t had a chance to place an order with you yet.
ah! :/ Sorry about that. Hopefully you’ll have another chance to try the teas and this time they will be super tasty!
Another tea to explore from YYZ and the last of the “fruity” teas that she sent. I have to say it’s been nice trying out these different teas and i’m looking forward to the rizhao journey i have in store from her as well. I had this alongside the other my recollection is that i prefered the other to this one, while this was still a really nice cup. I’m at that point in my cupboard where i need to decide how many fruitier blacks i want since they are not usually my preferred go to blacks. I’m much more a fan of the malty, cocoa-y sort of tea, with a little smoke thrown in maybe. :) still though, fun to have and explore! thanks again yyz!
Another sample from YYZ Again, i didn’t get nearly as much tea drinking in today as i’d hoped but some is better than none! I had this earlier this afternoon and it was a very pleasant cup of tea. It’s nice to find a ceylon that isn’t “red rose” like. This is a malty, fruity cup of delicious. I might need to pick some up to share with the BBB ladies in the future :)
Another offering from the BBB Box from Terri I wanted to try this one along side the other from Yunnan sourcing to see how it compares. This one? I love even more. it’s cocoa-y and malty and sweet and delicious. oh happy day..it’s friday. thank god.
Another tea from Terri via our BBB Box. I really do love that we’re still managing to do this even after nearly a year :) its nice having friends to share in new tea experiences :) I like this one, though it falls into that generic category of teas that i will enjoy while i have them, but not feel the need to restock or make permanent in my cupboard. it’s a smooth brew, i love these leaves and the taste is really nice. just not knock your socks off :)
I liked this one, too. Black beauty indeed :)
