136 Tasting Notes
This is a fairly good-tasting puerh with strong notes of hazelnut. The hazelnut overwhelms the chocolate; the chocolate is somewhat weak. The Stevia in this tea isn’t as strong as other DavidsTeas but still there, and it gives the tea an unpleasant after taste. It’s ok but not something I would recommend.
Flavors: Chocolate, Hazelnut, Metallic
I decided I would try this tea as it sounded good. About 40% of the way through, my tongue started to burn and swell up. I believe this is due to the inclusion of Stevia and natural flavoring. I have NOT had a problem with these additives for a long time and never this bad. Suddenly all of DavidsTeas that have them are bothering me. Threw out the envelope.
Flavors: Metallic
What they don’t tell you on the box is that the 8% natural flavoring isn’t flavor at all, it is clearly the code word for an analog of MSG. Great unless you have a food sensitivity to it. It made my tongue burn like fire for a couple of hours. The tea tasted like what I imagine licking a metal can would. YUCK! Thanks for cheaping out on ingredients and wasting my money. I won’t buy ANY of their teas ever again!
Flavors: Metallic
I don’t know what possessed me to buy this tea; obviously I was in an experimental mood when I bought it a few months ago. I tried it before and didn’t like it. I still don’t.
I did not see in the small print on the website that this tea contains Stevia. Stevia gives food a sharp metallic taste for me and makes my tongue burn. I also note (like other reviewers) that this tea is very sweet. Sweet in a chemical way.
I tried to drink the whole cup as I had put oat milk and collagen powder in it (a neutral), but I couldn’t stand it. The package goes into the garbage.
Don’t buy.
Flavors: Stevia
The first 2 oz envelope of this tea that I bought was fairly good and tasted like salted caramel. The current envelope that I have is very sweet and really doesn’t taste like actual caramels. The tea has no personality! Not ordering it again.
Flavors: Sugar
Preparation
Decent Reishi Mushroom and matcha tea. Earthy, warm flavors. NOT bitter. Not sweet.
Flavors: Dry Grass, Earth, Mushrooms
Preparation
So sweet as to make me gag, I tossed out the entire cup after tasting. So did my husband. The stevia is overpowering even though it is the final ingredient in the list. I also get a faint metallic flavor from this tea which may be the affect of the stevia (which I am not certain of as I have never been sensitive to this before I bought from Davids Tea). I washed out the cups with soap prior to trying another tea. Awful.
