Two fun things right now. 1) I’m logging this on the beta app. Whee!!! 2) I just chugged 500ml of this tea, because I forgot to drink it at work this afternoon and I was thirsty.
Definitely a re-buy. Definitely. But either H&S has to offer a good enough deal to make Canadian shipping worthwhile, or I have to figure out a place to park in Canada and walk over the border to the parcel place. Or find another parcel place that’s a bit more accessible. Anyone know of any just south of the Vancouver area?
Edit: Tasting note 666. :D So glad I noticed. Numbers make me happy. (I also removed the “50” rating. heh.)

Haha perhaps the ratings aren’t working properly in the app? Because this is showing at a not-re-buy-worthy 50 right now. :D
….. if you think you’ll use it enough you can rent an address out of florida. i did for awhile. everything gets shipped there, repacked and shipped to you here. it still worked out to be a whole lot cheaper….. i think it was called myus.com? lots of vendors offer free shipping within the states, so you get that, then the company has corporate rates to ship things to you.
i used it over christmas i think.
There’s a parcel pickup just over the border which is $2.50 per parcel. They’ll hold it for 2 weeks. It’s just getting there that’s an issue. I can’t find a place to park in Canada (not my car), and it’s way too far from the closest bus stop to be schlepping packages.
There must be one in Point Roberts, but I have no idea what I’m looking for.
And yes, Dinosara. The app is making me rate everything. If I try to leave it, it sets the rating at 50, which is NOT what this was rated at. I’ve emailed. :)

This is a list posted on a forum in 2010 – that’s a couple of years ago but it might be a starting point for you. There are 4 listed in Point Roberts. Hope that helps you find one that’s convenient.
JustJames – that’s awesome. Now I can actually consider those companies that have ridiculous $30 rates!
I’ve been avoiding Harney too because of crazy shipping, but I was looking today and they seem to have changed the shipping – flat rate 15.00 up to 50.00 – 20.00 50.01 – 100.00. That’s still pretty expensive but not as bad as it used to be. What scares me though is that they use UPS. My experience with UPS is they charge tons for “brokerage charges”. Harneys site stated “Please note: The shipping cost for Canadian orders will include all duty, taxes and brokerage fees.” Anyone know if this is true – no brokerage with UPS shipping? I think I’m willing to pay 15.00…
Cavo did an order for us from H&S. I don’t think there were any extra charges, but best check with her.
I think we ended up paying $25 for shipping since our order was over $100, but split 3 way it wasn’t terrible.
Well a little.
But with both my orders from H&S I haven’t had to pay Brokerage. Actually, I haven’t had to pay brokerage/duty for any tea from the US.
you shouldn’t have to ay brokerage fees from the US unless you’re buying teaware – then it can happen. Free trade agreement = tea is not on the menu for customs/duties/brokerage etc…
Oh geez. Was it really that much, Cavo? :) And what Sil says is true. There is no duty on tea leaves, I’ve contacted the customs agency to confirm even.
Yeah – I pulled up my receipt to check. But if you keep your order under $100 it’s a little more reasonable. Slightly?
How come you can’t drive across the border? I have Nexus and I use Pak Mail in Bellingham. When I was closer to Point Roberts, I used TPS Shipping. Both companies are excellent. Even without Nexus, I would make a day of and go do some shopping, Trader Joe’s etc. Shipping to Canada is ridiculous and what I find extra hilarious is when you ship to Point Roberts, it has to go to Vancouver first, but hey it’s still free shipping. Hopefully companies on both sides of 49th can one day distinguish that we don’t like in Constantinople but rather directly north or south of each other.
Chapters also sells it in sachets for 10.00 (I know it’s not the same, but if you’re in a jam, it’s handy.)

Thanks, Dexter!

Tuscanteal, it’s not my car. Also, one of the owners is a Canadian living in the US, which could potentially cause some problems. :) Unless we make a day trip to go shopping, I have to park in Canada and walk across.
