drank Lemon Meringue Chai by 52teas

This isn’t bad cold steeped; I think it may make for a smoother cup. The lemon flavour is very zippy, but still manages to be sweet. The spices are also prevalent but bleed into the citrus and smoothness in a very creative, albeit peculiar, way. I love the marshmallow root. I’m actually really grateful to Frank’s blends for introducing me to this interesting ingredient.

This is a fun tea that I can finally see myself finishing up. I could never get it right hot with the milk.

This sounds really interesting. I don’t think I’ve had a lemon chai before.

Ze_Teamaker

Lemon Chai makes for a great summer time tea. It’s like a spicy exotic version of the class lemon-ice-tea.

I’m crazy in love with this tea’s aroma. Please make my room smell like this.

The berries and pine notes combine to make something that tastes almost like anise.

I think I’d like this base in almost anything.

I’m also a big fan of roses, which are mixed in a controlled manner here. I’m less keen on the bergamot, but it’s smooth enough here not to be overburdening.. This tea feels like a strange cross between an indulging sunny afternoon with chocolate fudge malt and a cleansing spa day.

Recommended for lovers of Earl Grey, rose teas, and chocolate.

Flavors: Chocolate, Flowers, Malt, Orange Zest

i like it a lot. It makes me so calm at night

Crowkettle

I can see how it would do that. It helped to wind me down the other night too.

Terri HarpLady

This is one of the only blends with bergamot that I actually enjoy, usually as a relaxing bubble bath tea. The aroma of it turns the entire experience into more of a spa session. :)

drank Cranberry Chai by Teajo Teas
1445 tasting notes

I was a little hesitant to cold steep a chai, but I added a some agave syrup and then put it in the fridge over night and it came out delicious and “even” tasting. I’m notoriously bad at heating up chais so having all the flavours come through like this, without something being too weak or too strong, is a rarity.

I don’t specifically taste cranberry. It’s more of a backdrop; like a dab of cranberry jam on a hulking big slice of turkey. I think the agave helped bring it out more than it would’ve naturally been. The most dominant spice is the cardamom, which also adds to that tart sweet flavour.

I just wish I had some sweetened condensed milk, or a little umbrella thing with some pineapple slices. It tastes a little like that.

drank Very Raspberry by Teajo Teas
1445 tasting notes

I’m getting the idea that raspberry is not an easy flavour to capture. I’ve enjoyed the chocolate/coconut raspberry flavours that are blatantly dessert teas, but the plain old raspberry teas tend to taste more like Swedish Berries than anything else. This one still falls into that category for me, although it tries hard not too.

There’s a tart citrus zap that’s convincing, followed by the raspberry flavour, which eventually descends into the category of sweetened jam. It’s the aftertaste and aroma that leaves me with gummies.. although it also feels like I have those raspberry hairs stuck in my throat. Mixed signals.

Oh, well. This tea mostly sticks to the raspberries of my mind, and if it becomes overly sweet I can’t pretend I don’t like jam and candy too.

drank Aloe Vera Berry by Zen Tea
1445 tasting notes

I picked some of this up because of JustJames. I was so excited to get it that I.. erm, ate most of it, accidentally?

I did manage about two cold steeps though and they were awesome. The hibiscus is at an acceptable level, and the rose isn’t domineering. The variety of fruit make a refreshing and sweet cocktail. The aloe, my other main reason for picking this up, is subtle but present.

Fruit blends go too quickly.

Aloe is intriguing!

drank Fiesta Fusion by Teajo Teas
1445 tasting notes

I’ve had this iced a few times and the rose is what hits me the most. The sweet fruit flavour is a bit generic for me, but it’s not a deal breaker.

It’s a tasty, refreshing iced tea with no bitterness, but I’d rather reorder Teajo’s Tropical Mango or Raspberry Chocolate Bark. I don’t think I’m the biggest fan of black/green mix blends.

Flavors: Flowers

I so agree with you! I don,t get why green and black tea should ever be paired together. As much as I love Most of Teajo’s teas, this one did not impress me at all.

drank Coffee Matcha by Matcha Outlet
1445 tasting notes

A scoop of matcha, an overripe banana, a glass of almond milk, a scoop of ice cream, and a tablespoon of chia seeds= super decadent.

Out of the three coffee flavours from Sil I think this one is my favourite, although the mocha was good too. The coffee smoothly creeps into the finish and aftertaste, leaving a vibrant mouthful. I’m looking forward to drinking the two last servings of this.

Well, this is the last flavour from the generous package from Sil. Thank you so much; I never thought I’d get through so many of Red Leaf’s flavours so quickly (maybe a little too quickly). Also a huge thanks to Fjellrev, who organized and distributed everything on this side of the country. I’m extremely grateful.

Sil

Yay! Glad you had fun with them :)

drank Mandarin Matcha by Matcha Outlet
1445 tasting notes

I mixed the rest of this into some vanilla ice cream and let my roommate try some; we both could taste the mandarin orange (the finishing flavour). Pretty tasty, and no fluoride reminder.

I wish I’d tried the rest of Sil’s flavoured matcha in an ice cream batch, as it seems to reduce the variable of bad mixing on my part.

Stephanie

ice cream matcha? ooooooooh that sounds good

drank Tropical Mango by Teajo Teas

I finished the rest of this off tonight as a cold brew. The juicy mango flavour really shines when it’s iced.

I think iced tea is my new temporary favourite thing.

Also, I hope everyone had an awesome St. Patrick’s Day!

Profile

Bio

I started my Steepster loose leaf adventure back in 2012. I can’t say I’m completely new anymore, but I still view oolong as a magical, extraterrestrial creature that unfurls in water.

My favourites are teas like Milk Oolong, Silver Needle, and Japanese Sencha/Gyokuro, or fruity and floral flavoured ones. However, I generally enjoy ALL the teas, including a good old cup of Earl Grey or Breakfast blend.

Less Preferred Flavours/Ingredients:

Subjective Rating System:
I don’t give a lot of low ratings out, since a) I tend to grab tea I know will appeal to me, and b) I don’t have a lot of strong dislikes.

90-100: Favourites. The Desert Island Teas.
80-89: Loved teas. Possibly staple-worthy.
70-79: Good teas, but I’m less likely to repurchase. Minor quibbles.
60-69: Ok teas. Likely a few preference and/or quality issues.
50-59: Cup of meh. Will do in a pinch.
11-49: Varying levels of undrinkable tea.
1-10: Nightmare tea from the chaos realms. This tea is the embodiment of the primordial swamp, an unholy abomination. It’s very gross and I’m almost positive it doesn’t exist.
