A.C. Perch 2022 Advent Day 12: Ceylon OP

True to A.C. Perch form, another incredibly smooth tea. This was a very light-bodied Ceylon with absolutely no astringency, bitterness, or drying. We both really enjoyed this one — one of those cups where I drank a whole teapot without realising and was almost saddened to realise the tea was gone.

I am glad we have more of this one and would seriously consider adding this to our cupboard.

Nabo 2022 Advent Day 11: Julrosor

Ehhh rose. However, the vanilla and hints of fruitiness really helped to mellow the rose and dare I say this cup was decently enjoyable.

Paper & Tea 2022 Advent Day 12: Tiger Rock Wu Lu

Lexa really enjoyed this one. I would say the notes they mention are bang-on: sweet pea, nutty, and a bit umami-like.

Nabo 2022 Advent Day 10: Bombär och Granater

We brewed this one in a teapot and it was so light I feared the flavour was completely diluted. Thankfully that wasn’t the case (though perhaps I could’ve used a little less water). Nonetheless, the fruit notes in this tea really came forward and didn’t disappoint. I would say I got mostly apple, but very fresh, sweet apple – I don’t think I’ve had that enjoyable of an apple flavour in tea before. The hibiscus wasn’t really present, save for the pale pink colour of the tea. There’s perhaps a whisper of pomegranate flavour that I do wish was a bit more present, but perhaps chilled it would come out more? I could see this being very enjoyable cold! I would order this one for our cupboard.

Nabo 2022 Advent Day 9: Assam Chadwar

This was a smooth cup that wasn’t difficult to drink. It wasn’t necessarily special, but it wasn’t bad at all. I didn’t find any astringency or metallic flavours. Overall a lighter Assam with an aftertaste of caramel as well.

A.C. Perch 2022 Advent Day 8: White Nepal

This was delightful! There was a sweetness that only occurs in certain white teas that was just lovely at the end of every sip. There were also notes of hay. We both loved this one and would order it for our cupboard!

A.C. Perch 2022 Advent Day 11: White Symphony

Well, this one wasn’t finished. The rose was all that came through, sadly. The rose was definitely stronger in scent than flavour, but with so many teas behind I wasn’t in the mood to drink the whole cup of this one.

Also, I think the ingredients of this one have changed since the original notes. The booklet that comes with the calendar states: “White tea (China), pear pieces, flavoring, pomegranate pieces, rose leaves, cardamom, vanilla pieces”.

A.C. Perch 2022 Advent Day 10: Java

A lovely start to the day with this one. A straight black, breakfast-like tea. There was no astringency or metallic flavours here. Just smooth black tea.

Bio

I love black tea and this is usually what’s in my mug. I’m also happy to enjoy a cup of green or red rooibos (green preferable to red), herbals, oolongs (unroasted/green and red preferable to roasted), whites, and subtly flavoured greens (mango or pineapple, yum!).

Likes:
Raspberry, strawberry, peach, rhubarb, passionfruit, blackcurrant, redcurrant, fig, and most fruits in general, maple, creaminess, hay, biscuit, lavender, and cacao/dark chocolate.

I enjoy bergamot when paired with flavours that mellow it (Camellia Sinensis Earl Grey Cream is one of my favourites).

Dislikes:
Any smokiness at all, stevia, too much blackberry leaf, rose, jasmine, ginger (except in chai), cinnamon-heavy teas, anything cloying or fake/candy-like.

I’m vegan with an allergy to potatoes, so I avoid any animal products in tea, along with sprinkles as these often have potato starch (I usually just pick them out of blends).
