This is the lone survivor from the Simpson & Vail holiday sampler I bought last year. Honestly I wasn’t as happy as I remembered being with most of the teas, a lot of them were just sort of bland black teas. I did enjoy the rooibos blends though.
This one is tasty! It has a lovely rich and buttery flavor that reminds me of butter rum Lifesavers. There is a bit of creamy nuttiness to it, but to me it’s more like candied chestnuts that are coated in buttery caramel. The rooibos base, of course, goes perfectly with those caramel-y notes and adds a nice depth.
Overall, it’s a rich and comforting tisane. I’m almost tempted to add a pinch of salt to give it a sort of salted caramel vibe. I feel like it would round out the flavor nicely.
Flavors: Brown Sugar, Butter, Butterscotch, Caramel, Chestnut, Nutty, Sweet, Wood

I just received my S&V magazine in the mail today, and I’ve been thinking about this particular tea ever since flipping through! I’ll have to reorder it in my next order because it’s been too long!
I still have so many teas to get through from my order! XD
But I think next time I want to pick up the literary sampler to try.

I think I’ve enjoyed all the literary blends I’ve tried, so that seems like a good choice!
