Reddit TTB tea! This was decently tasty! There was a good mix of fruit and spice. It was best cold. It has the right amount of tartness, and the spices were warming and fresh. I love the big cinnamon sticks in the blend. My only complaint is that there was sometimes some emptiness, probably because it’s an herbal tea with just fruit, no base to back up the flavors.
I received this free sample in a recent tea order. This mostly tastes plantlike and a tiny bit fruity. I guess I notice some lavender or something herbaceous like that! This was pleasant cold, but didn’t stand out. I’d prefer more fruitiness and a different base.
My friend bought me a tin of this from a local shop that carries S&V teas! It’s not one that I would choose for myself, but it’s always nice to try a new S&V tea. I don’t taste any chocolate at all. The green base is okay. The blackberry flavoring comes off as too fake for me. I shared this with my partner who said, “It’s like eating the entire blackberry bush.” It’s best cold with milk and sugar.
Both blackberry and raspberry leaves have a lightly vegetal flavour and a type of sweetness I would describe as similar to stevia and liquorice where it isn’t sugar sweetness but activates sweet taste buds. Blackberry leaf can give bulk to a tea and is very cheap to buy, plus it has health benefits and gives some sweetness to tea that might be sour or tannic.
You will find tons of tea companies claiming lots of health benefits but the literature has only shown that they have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-microbial properties (e.g. treatment for infected mouth or sore throat).
I think strawberry and blackberry leaf mostly serve as Arby said – they somehow add sweetness. I have made strawberry leaf tea from my garden and it didn’t taste like much, but it made me belch as if I had drunk baking soda water! It is considered to be yummy soother so maybe that is why. I will have to try making blackberry leaf tea from all the rogue canes that come up every year.
The scent of fresh mango was super strong. The first time, it turned out a little astringent seeming even though I steeped this shorter than the recommended time. The resteep was somehow tastier than the first steep. It was mostly super mapley pancakes, which was nice! On subsequent steeps, I kept the time under three minutes and let it cool completely before drinking. Then it became really wonderful, blending the mango, coconut, and maple perfectly.
Totally makes me think of Hawai’i, where the intersection of breakfast/brunch and tropical fruits seems to be a major thing! Still dreaming of the guava chiffon pancakes…
TTB! This isn’t my favorite sort of tea, but with a lot of extra sugar, it’s not bad! The fruit is tart, and I can taste a bit of the spice. I’m drinking this cold, and it’s pretty enjoyable. The flavor is definitely mostly hibiscus, but that’s surprisingly what I’m in the mood for right now.
This is pretty fresh and pleasant. I’m drinking it cold, and I taste the lemon without the tartness. I also taste some of the rooibos base. I don’t notice anything too fake or cleaner-ish, which is always a relief with lemon teas. I don’t think this one is special enough to seek out, but it’s a decent blend!
TTB! I’m super familiar with the flavor of the prickly pear tea since I have a big tin of it. I definitely taste more of that than the mango tea. However, I like this a lot more than my plain prickly pear, so I can tell the mango is doing some work balancing out the sometimes fake candylike prickly pear tea. I wish I could taste more distinct mango, but the flavor is quite refreshing cold.
TTB! Ha, it may be partially due to the soy milk I added, but this really reminds me of soy sauce. I don’t taste much chocolate, just some desserty soy sauce. I shared the cup with my partner, who said it tastes like good quality hot chocolate.
