176 Tasting Notes
I’m taking this down a few notches since the past couple of times I’ve had this it’s been a bit bitter. I still enjoy it, though. I just think it’s a little finicky when it comes to steeping time.
This was from MeghannM. It smells delicious. I added some milk to this, which made it extra smooth. The tea was very dark, almost like coffee. I was expecting yuckiness like I normally get with Adagio’s flavored blacks, but this one was a pleasant surprise. I’ll definitely be making this one again. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the dryness in my mouth afterward. But other than that, I liked it a lot! Thanks MeghannM!
This was good on its own, but I also think it would would be good to add to other teas. I’m thinking of adding it to strawberry.
I love this one with sugar and milk. I had it in the afternoon for a little pick-me-up after a disastrous walk with my dog. It was so windy that she actually got blown over sideways and I felt terrible. I promised her I’d never bring her out when it was that windy ever again. My poor dog…!
I got this yesterday as a free sample inside my ROT catalog. I figured a green would be a little gentler on my stomach (which still bothers me every day, which is why I haven’t been having much tea lately. I’ve made an appointment to find out if I have another stomach ulcer). Plus when I first started drinking tea, I didn’t like greens because of the grassiness. But I’ve seen my palate develop over these past few months, so I’m giving it another go. I really do want to like green tea. You see, I feel like I’m missing out on a whole huge part of the tea world. It’s something I want to experience, so hopefully things will be different this time.
It smells of honey and flowers. I don’t smell any grassiness. This seems like it will a gentle, soothing tea.
Hooray! It tastes like I wanted it to; floral with a touch of honey. I don’t taste grassiness, accept for a teensy bit in the aftertaste, which doesn’t bother me. Maybe my palate isn’t bothered by it anymore, or maybe this just isn’t a very grassy green. I’m going to happily finish this cup. This was my first experience with ROT, and I have been left a very happy customer!
When I go to Panera, this is the tea I usually get. It is so good! :) Sometimes I add a little honey. Great review! I’m glad you found a green that you like!
I put this on my shopping list – thanks for the review! Oh, was there any hint of ginseng? Hope your stomach feels better soon!
@Lauren – To be honest, I don’t know what ginseng is supposed to taste like! So I’m not really able to answer that question… sorry!
Guess what? My very first RoT catalog came in the mail today with this as a sample! I’m going to try it out …!
It’s a rather cold and dreary day, so I’m warming up with some Dawn. Ahhh, so good.
I’ve recently returned from a 2-day tea hiatus. I wanted to stop drinking tea to see if my crippling stomach aches would stop. They did. But, I also suffered nasty caffeine withdrawal, which gave me crippling headaches. So, I have 2 options: 1. Drink tea, be healthier, but have stomach aches or 2. Don’t drink tea, be lethargic, and have headaches.
This tasting note shows which option I chose.
I get stomach aches from tea too sometimes, but if I keep it to 1 or 2 teas per day I don’t really have any trouble. I think having it with tomato sauce based foods makes it worse.
try switching up teas; coffee makes my sick – i drink it anyway, but try mate only one day, green another….perhaps it’s just blacks
once you narrow it down you might be able to find your limits (1 black a day, rest green, or a few blacks but only with tums)
@Harfatum – Tomato stuff hurts my stomach too! I can no longer eat tomato soup, much to my dismay.
@ takgoti – I don’t think it’s an allergy issue. I’ve had stomach ulcers due to stress before (darn high school), so I think it’s more that my stomach is all messed up.
@AmazonV – Good idea, I’m definitely going to experiment. Black teas are my favorite, so I want to know exactly how much I can drink without being in pain.
What concerns me is that I drink 3 cups of tea per day at most, which isn’t very much. But my stomach is wacky, so who knows. Today I’m drinking only blacks.
