176 Tasting Notes
The last thing I ever thought I’d be thinking as a 19-year old female college freshman was, ‘There is a shortage of balls in my life’. But, sadly, I am running low on this tea. Because it’s one of my favorites, I’ll be re-ordering this soon.
This tasted extra chocolaty today since I still had the aftertaste of the Malted ChocoMate in my mouth. Yummy!
Another one from Ricky. Thanks!
I’ve never had Mate before, but I know it’s supposed to be a good energy rush without the caffeine crash, so what better day to try it than on the morning of my big history test? This is also my first time trying 52teas, and I’ve got to admit, I was really psyched and they totally lived up to my expectations! Well done 52teas!
This one smells very strong. I could smell the chocolate from inside the bag Ricky put it in, and then from inside the envelope he mailed it in as well! Talk about chocolaty! And I have to say, I’m enjoying this a lot! It is very chocolaty of course, but it isn’t sickeningly sweet. It’s smooth, creamy, and delicious. Next time I try this I’ll add milk, but it’s so creamy it doesn’t really need it. Some sweetener might benefit it though.
But anyway, I’m very happy with this! Thanks Ricky!!!
I’m the opposite, I think it needs milk not creamer not sweetener… didn’t get the creamyness though either… :(
I’m still waiting for my order of this to come in and after reading this I’m getting impatient. heehee
I finally got the chance to try this one thanks to Ricky!
I took this with milk and sugar. I can mostly taste the awful Ceylon base that Adagio uses, but I’ll put that aside and concentrate on other things. I can taste a lot of caramel and some vanilla. The aftertaste is really nice caramel. Also, I’m noticing that it reminds me of a cappuccino.
There’s some weird oil-like stuff floating on the surface of this tea. Maybe it’s from the sprinkles, which were a really nice, really cute touch.
I really like the idea of this tea, but honestly, the Ceylon ruins it. C’mon Adagio! Get your act together!
EDIT: Now that it’s starting to cool off, I can taste more of the vanilla. I’m liking this more now; it’s not as bitter.
This time the tea steeped to a nice pink-orange color, unlike last time, when it looked like diluted orange juice. It was very pretty, so I wanted to share it with you. You can also play Where’s Waldo with my post-it-note stack…

This time around, I guess I got more cherry in my infuser because it wasn’t as gentle as last time. It had a warm cough syrup flavor to it, whereas last time it tasted like wonderful, light, fruity heaven. So from now on I need to be careful how much of a specific kind of fruit I get in each cup. I’ll shake the bag up better next time.
I’m not going to lower my rating, because I know that this tea is capable of being very good.
A question to Teavana enthusiasts: When Teavana puts a tea on their website for 50% off, does that mean they are discontinuing it? Because I love this stuff, and if it’s being discontinued I want to buy a big bag while I still can!
i hope i am wrong, but they did this to two of our favorite teas, at first i was pleased they were on sale, then when i asked why it was because tey were going to stop having them (mrs. earl grey, japanese spring cherry green and lapspang souchong)
Beautiful photos – wonderful color to your tea! I think I have a couple of packets of this laying about. I am going to have to steep some!
Beautiful photos. I was wondering if the cup and saucer in the pic are the jumbo cup and saucer from Adagio? I have often thought about ordering it and when I go to amazon to check the price there they give some not so great reviews. It’s seems like you like yours.?
@SoccerMom – Yep, that’s the jumbo cup and saucer from Adagio. I personally love it. The saucer seems pretty durable, but the actual cup feels like it’s made of a lighter and more fragile glass. Still, I haven’t broken it in the month I’ve had it, so I’m happy with it.
Lightly sweet, muscatel taste. Not much of an aftertaste. Tastes exactly like Honeydew. When the weather warms up I’ll try this iced, but today it’s cold and rainy.
The smell of this tea reminds me of a farm. Maybe that’s they hay that Samovar mentioned. It also smells lightly sweet.
Whoa, this is way sweeter than I thought it would be. It’s fruity and floral and I totally wasn’t expecting that. I can taste tangerine or some kind of citrus as well as just a hint of something floral. This is a great tea. It’s gentle and kind, but sweet at the same time. I can totally see myself ordering this again. This tea ranks very high on my list of favorites.
LOL!
