From thepuriTea

Milk Oolong is a one-of-a-kind tea. It has no added flavors – its fantastically milky, creamy flavor is the result of its terroir and harvest season. The rolled, blue-green leaves have an intense milk aroma, like milk toffee or hard milk candy, with a slight floral undertone. Likewise, the bright yellow brew is incredibly aromatic and flavorful. Its scents of creamy caramel, flavors of cream, milk, coconut milk and tangerine-infused crème fraiche, and finish of gardenias, ripe fruits and warm cream are remarkably indulgent. Later infusions are greener, more floral and equally complex. Milk Oolong is delicious on its own, or with fresh fruit salad or coconut cream pie and sliced peaches.

This is my first milk oolong and I can tell this will be the first of more to come. It is amazing and delicious. It is sweet, creamy but not in a rich sort of way, just smooth. I allowed it to cool and it just got sweeter and happier. I can tell this will be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Thank you, thepuriTea for this sample.

I’ve only had a few milk oolongs so far and I have liked them but at the same time they are all quite different.

This one tastes like almond milk or coconut milk, almost. Sweet but nutty and creamy.

The leaves really puff out so not much loose leaf is needed to infuse! This is screaming 2nd infusion so I might try it…

This is a neat smell and neat…VERY different…and I’d agree MIND BLOGGLING! But FUN!

Rabs

Bloggling? Whether you meant boggling or not, I gotta say that I love bloggling :D

TeaEqualsBliss

LOL Boggling! Typo!!! However I could just say I meant to do it! Bloggling = a mind-boggling blogger??? Perhaps

Rabs

Definately! :D

Batrachoid

Did someone call for a boggle? >:D (They’re a type of ghoul in Irish legend, by the way)
You certainly qualify as mind-bloggling. Maybe you’ve invented the next meme of the week.

A SIPDOWN! Goodbye thepuriTea’s milk oolong. You were an awesome friend to me but since you are forever gone I will have to turn to other milk oolongs now.

But you will always be My First.

The first time I tried this one I wasn’t super impressed. I never came back to my sample because it didn’t ever call to me, but today I wanted a milk oolong and I don’t have many (any?) others in my stash right now.

I dunno, I just don’t get any creaminess to this one really. Vegetal, nutty and a little buttery, with maybe a hint of condensed milk in the aftertaste (but none of the sweetness). It’s a decently tasty tea, but not my fave. Really, I have been pretty consistantly disappointed with most milk oolongs, and I am thinking it is because most milk oolongs are subject to a type of flavoring during the growing process that doesn’t quite allure me. There are a few more direct-from-the-source milk oolongs I want to try, but otherwise I will be sticking with Teavivre’s unflavored milk oolong.

I’ve had a pouch of this tea in my collection for a little while and haven’t wanted to open it as I can go through all of this tea in the matter of a week. Same wonderful flavors: peachy, milky, leafy — all so pleasant and just perfect on this rainy evening. I’d like to make a little pot of this tea, but can’t seem to find it at the moment so I’m going back to the kettle for cup after cup.

Broke the lid of my tea pot. Needed some Tea I could trust. This is the one.

So sorry to hear about the lid. Maybe it’s fixable? I’m going to also have to find a milk oolong to try; I keep reading such great reviews!

Kryptryx

It was glass. First my glass strainer, now the glass lid. The cosmos is telling me I need to upgrade my stuff.

Jaime

I wouldn’t argue with the cosmos, then.

Meghann M

I feel bad “liking” this. Hope you find a suitable replacement soon.

I also keep reading about milk oolong and it is making me very curious…

I must profess my love once again for this heavenly tea. Delicious, creamy smooth, buttery, comforting goodness!!

I just keep on topping off the leaves in my travel tea mug with the hot spigot water at work (I’m on my third mugful). And the flavor, while slowly fading, is still exceptional. I can drink this all day, everyday.

I think this is the tea that I must have with me if stranded on a deserted island.

…speaking of which, I must get more, my stash is dangerously low.

I just realized that I’ve been on Steepster over a year now (376 days). Happy 1 year to me! I’m celebrating with a cuppa of milk oolong.

Creamy and smooth.

I got this sample when thePuritea was having their Cyber Monday sale. I’ve had it before, but I knew that this would be a new, fresh batch and I wanted to try it in the 2 cup samples so I would definitely get the amount of leaf right. Steeped the entire sample in 500 ml. of water at the below parameters in my Breville.

The liquor was a very light yellow once steeped, like I remember it being, but the smell is VERY different. I smelled grassy oolong, yes, but also strawberries and cream this time. The taste mirrors this – grassy and also lightly sweet, spun strawberry sugar or cotton candy-ish. Boyfriend gets popcorn – there is a nutty accent in the taste as well, so this could be what he’s picking up on. So very many nuances in this tea!

I understand why this is so popular – this has to be the closest thing to nature’s version of candy (besides sugar itself, of course!).

Wow, this sounds heavenly. I purchased the new batch too. Can’t wait until this cold or whatever it is passes so that I can try it and truly appreciate its flavors.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending this tea my way! I am always happy to try an Oolong!

I have tasted a lot of Oolong teas, but very few Milk Oolong teas.

Heavenly! Soft, fluffy cloud-like! It has a thick, creamy texture like whole milk, and such a delicious flavor that is sweet, nutty and vegetative. This is quite possibly the most perfect Milk Oolong I’ve ever tasted. Fantastic!!!
