When I first got this one it reminded me pretty strongly of Teavana’s Matevana, but I’m starting to think that ultimately Matevana has a bit more to offer, a fuller taste than this one. Which isn’t to say this is bad – it’s a perfectly good mate, and the added flavors do a good job of calming the intensity of the roasted yerba mate. I don’t think I’ll be buying this one again though.

Had this yesterday as my morning tea. It was the loose leaf version, and I REALLY liked it. Can’t remember how long I steeped it (probably either six or eight minutes) but with a dash of honey and almond milk, it tasted just like a hazelnut latte! It gave me a good energy boost too, without the jitters or seriously upset stomach that I get from coffee.

This tea has a mellow hint of cocoa. Being a strong lover of dark chocolate, I find adding a bit more honey than usual accentuates the flavor of the tea.

Reminded me of a Mocha/Latte, but watered down. Very aromatic, rich color, and pleasant taste, Good way to fool the coffee club that your in.

This has been one of my favorite speciality teas! It has a rich nutty/ chocolate flavor. Great with desserts.

Interesting. I can mostly taste the rooibos, which is a little disappointing because I don’t really like rooibos, but it isn’t too bad here. The aroma is chocolatey, and the taste is sweet and a bit like honey (the rooibos), nutty, with a little cocoa. It’s definitely unique and something that will be just the thing when I’m in the mood for it.

Here’s Hoping Teabox – Round Six – Tea #3
I love the name for this one! This one is a Republic of Tea I am a fan of. It is what it is! Roasted yerba mate with hints of chocolate and nuttiness. I wouldn’t mind more cocoa and nuttiness. I was still a bit tired though, so maybe there isn’t much caffeine here. Just a solid cup of yerba mate!
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // 10 minutes after boiling // 3-4 minute steep

Teeny Tiny TTB Round 2

Ooh, roasted mate! I’ve been really interested in trying more mate blends, specifically roasted, since Roswell sent me a sample of Chocolate Rocket from David’s. So I was very happy to see this one in the box! It looks to be roasted mate with pieces of cacao and yellow flower petals. For some reason it smells like cinnamon? Probably scent contamination from other teas in the box.

Mm, the steeped cup smells deeply roasted with some sweet chocolate notes. Tastes pretty good, too! I really like the darkly roasted flavor of roasted mate. There’s also a nice creamy note and some milk chocolate flavor. I can taste a lovely underlying toasted nut flavor, and it almost in a way reminds me of banana? Overall, yummy. :) I think I’ll keep this one!

This is one of my favorites from RoT…it’s AMAZING as a tea latte! :)

I bet so. I think next time I’ll use more leaf overall.

I find myself reaching for this tea often. It’s one of the most warm, flavorful, comforting teas I’ve tried so far. It tastes like chocolate-covered toasted almonds with just a hint of vanilla. It makes an AMAZING tea latte, but is also delicious with just a splash of milk or even plain. I don’t find a need to sweeten it at all; it is delicious all on its own! I highly recommend buying the loose-leaf version rather than the tea bags; I’ve tried both and the loose-leaf has much more flavor. I always have this one on hand.

I feel terrible for not recommending this tea – I really, really wanted to like it! The yerba mate flavors are great, it smells wonderful with a hint of almond and vanilla. But, the final taste to me just feels off – for me, it kind of tastes like milk that’s gone off. It’s not good. A shame, it has such potential.
