(Guest post from my mom, who also posts on Crazy Tea Chick!)

Suffice to say, I drink TAZO Passion tea as often as some people drink water. Maybe more.

I know from experience that truly great tea and herbal infusions can help you kick the diet soda and regular soda (pop, soft drink, Coke….) habit. Almost daily we read how unhealthy soft drinks and diet drinks are for us. It really is time to make the switch for good. What’s more, we need to do all we can to help our loved ones make the same healthy switch.

If you provide them with great alternatives, such as TAZO Passion Tea as well as other flavored teas, the switch won’t just happen, it’ll STICK!

Passion Tea is a little easier to find in stores that TAZO’s Wild Sweet Orange Tea; however it is also available on Amazon. Like the Wild Sweet Orange Tea, Passion tea is excellent cold or hot – I honestly love it both ways equally. Each of these teas has something else in common – neither needs any sweetener at all. I have as big a sweet tooth as anyone and am pretty guilty of throwing honey in just about everything! However, I wouldn’t dream of adding anything to these teas. Why mess with perfection?!

Order Herbal Infusion Tea-Passion (Decaf) on Amazon or look for it in the tea aisle of your favorite grocery store or Starbucks. You’ll become as passionate about it as we are.

Hey Emily….I’ve never tried Tazo’s Passion, but if you haven’t already, please read my review of Tazo’s Organic Chai. If you like Chai teas, that is a really good one. You should give it a try! :))

Crazy Tea Chick (Emily)

Scott, I’ll check it out! I’ve actually never tried that chai tea…I might have to do that! :)

Love this, though if you aren’t careful, it gets bitter very quickly, especially with two teabags in a venti at Starbucks.

I stole one from the hotel, I’ll have to try it. I edited my comment on Tazo’s Awake because my second cup was bitter. If you’re enjoying it at Starbucks, I’d recommend letting the water cool down before steeping.

I poured a little bit of rose flavored syrup into my cuppa Passion tea, it has a very pleasant sweet rose taste.

Cofftea

Do you make your own rose syrup?

Let me begin by saying I would have NEVER bought this myself but got it in the sample package Tazo sells. I had used up the green teas, chai and my other usual new faves and out of curiosity I saw this in the package and thought hey passion sounds nice, God knows I don’t have much passion in my life these days what with three little kids driving me batty. Lets check it out..

I went ahead and boiled my water, measured it out (which is waay too tart for my taste so I ended up adding more water then called for, probably an extra 50 mls or so). The first sip: An explosion! No, several explosions in my mouth. My senses were assaulted but I liked it!! It felt, uh tasted, sooo good. Ok slow down..wow that was just..wow! let’s see, awesome but I’m missing something..sweet! Yes let’s make it a lil bit more sweet. So I did. And BLISS!! Sheer passionate bliss!

To sum it up, this stuff is great. Orgasmic. Ok, maybe not orgasmic but damn it gave me pleasure to drink this! I cannot wait to try it iced, it seems like the kind of tea that BEGS to be tried iced. But the hot, passiony goodness was amazing. A stand-out tea memory etched in my mind forever! But you need to add a little sweet. I put in boring old sugar but next will try making my own “classic syrup” which is simply 2 parts sugar 1 part water heated for a short time. Hot or iced, this does well with a bit of sweetness to compliment the tart.

Passion, you have turned me on! I never thought I could love you but in spite of myself I do! So glad Tazo threw this in. I will buy it especially in the summer because I just KNOW this will be amazing iced. But all the same, I will update when I do and let you know how it is. Now, go drink some of this you can thank me later.

this iced + lemonade = my happy place :)

Awesome idea with the lemonade. I’m not too crazy about lemonade all by itse;f but combined with this could be really good. Hmm..something tells me I could be on to a good summertime home made cooler :)

I was desperate for something that I could drink from Starbucks without feeling super guilty about it afterwards, and this is what I came up with, and I am glad that I did! This tastes very similar to KANPE from DAVIDs, very tart and fruity. It comes in a bag but there are some large pieces in the bag so it appears to at least be very high quality bagged tea. All in all, a good tea and it will for sure be my starbucks order from now on (you know, for the three times a year I happen to find myself in Starbucks…)

I found the tartness in this tea to be quite overwhelming and too sour for my taste. Otherwise, it has great fruit flavors but I agree with the others about the hibiscus being a bit too much for me to completely enjoy it.

I’m a fan of citrus teas, but as a general rule I have to admit I don’t like fruity teas. Despite this, when my sister offered me a bag – the box proper is hers – I accepted.

“It has hibiscus and rose hips,” she told me, waving the bag tantalizingly in front of my face. I generally love these in tea, so I went for it.

Now, before I talk about my reaction, let me note that until very, very recently I was not really aware that there was a “right” way to make tea. While the concept of tea being good for more than one brewing registered dimly in the back of my head, I was somehow able to ignore the concept of overdoing it.

So, I had let the tea brew for about five minutes before trying it. I already didn’t like it – too sickly sweet/tart for my taste. I like citrus teas, as I said, but this tea was tart in a way that I just didn’t find appealing. I admit that after the first few sips I pretty much left the tea on the table and went to do something else. And then, when I came back an hour later, it was even worse. Cold, of course, and overbrewed because I’d stupidly left bag in the mug. It tasted like a particularly unripened mango that was somehow too sweet at the same time. (I had not added sugar – I never do)

At any rate, I choked down the rest and told my sister the next day not to worry about me stealing her tea. I just really disliked it. Since I did it incorrectly, I’ll likely give the tea a second chance at some point down the line. However, considering how much I disliked it even when it was freshly done, I’m not holding my breath on changing my mind.

It’ll be a while before I get back to it.

PS – this tea is STRONG, did I mention that?

All I could taste in it is the hibiscus. It said to have lemongrass in it and I wish i could have tasted it more.

Jillian

I don’t like this tea hot either but it is nice in Starbucks’ Iced Tea Lemonades IMO. :)

Allan

I think I’ll have to wait until it warms up and try it as an iced tea and see if I like it better that way.

Whoa, this herbal tea is strong. It has a good flavor, very crisp and clean. Leaves a great after taste. But boy is it strong. My advice is to stir between sips so that you keep the flavor moving throughout the tea and not settling at the bottom. Also, a little bit of honey is great.

This tea would be perfect if I was a huge fan of Hibiscus. I have had this tea both iced and hot, and the Hibiscus is equally noticeable (and too prominent, in my opinion) in both. I did however enjoy the fruitiness of this tea, and perhaps I’d give it another try (steeping it about a minute less). Overall I was not impressed with this cup as it was my first experience with an herbal tea… maybe someday I will learn to enjoy it as much as I enjoy green & black teas!
