From Stash Tea

Stash Green Chai Spice lends a modern twist to the traditional Chai by blending Lung Ching or Dragonwell Chinese green tea with cinnamon, whole cloves, cardamom, ginger root and sarsaparilla. The result is a flavorful and spicy tea that goes well with milk and sugar and may be enjoyed any time of the day. Chai can be both calming and stimulating.

Tip: For traditional Chai tea, brew with 7 ounces of water. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 ounce of milk (for a creamier drink use one ounce of canned evaporated milk).

Ingredients: green tea, cinnamon, clove, ginger root, sarsaparilla, natural cinnamon flavor, clove oil, cardamom oil

Steeping Instructions: 1-3 minutes at 170-190 degrees Fahrenheit

I enjoyed this chai more than I expected. While I do not enjoy green teas (especially cheap bagged greens), the spices stash uses makes this one of the better chais out of the ones I have tried. There are strong flavours from the ginger, cinnamon, clove, and cardamom.

My favorite way to drink green tea! Sweetened or not, and the spices are perfect.

Moved onto this from the break room after dumping the rooibus. I dislike Stash’s black chai, but thought I would give it a whirl anyway. The box recommend milk, which seems weird to me – I don’t usually put milk in green teas. Brewed it up, sweetened it and creamed it… it tastes… smokey? I don’t recall drinking a Dragonwell before. Is it generally smokey? The other reviews don’t mention it. Maybe it’s the clove I’m getting?

Hmm… not great, but drinkable.

Another sipdown! 377
This was in my box from Lee. I’ve been sort of avoiding it, as I just wasn’t thinking I’d enjoy it. I love chai, but somehow the idea of a Dragonwell chai just wasn’t resonating for me. As it turns out, it’s really not bad. I added a little stevia.
On another note, my black currant bush arrived! It took all of last week (in between students & gigs) to get the red & pink currants, the grapes, elderberries, & kiwi’s in the ground. This plant is ready to go, with green buds opening, etc. The packing reeks of the smell of cat urine though :p

I’ll echo everyone else on here and say that I had my doubts about this blend at first pass. A chai masala with a green tea base? How could that possibly work? And when I ripped open the packet, I was assailed by an onslaught of cinnamon so powerful that I thought I was going to sneeze.

I decided to make the cup up anyway. YOLO

It’s not bad. It’s a light chai, with an emphasis on the cinnamon and cloves perhaps, but overall, pretty inoffensive. The dragonwell base holds up okay, but I think I still prefer my classic chai masalas with an Assam base instead.

If this tea were a schoolchild, and I its teacher, it would be a B student.

I got this tea bag as a sample and I only wanted one cup this afternoon so I thought I would try it. The chai spice scent is great and it is strongly cinnamon. Since this is a chai blend, it is perfect for milk. I don’t drink milk so I drank this by itself and it was still really great. You can taste the cardamom but it is not overpowering as that spice can sometimes be. If you don’t want to make your own chai blend, this is a great shortcut because the spices are very mild and well-balanced.

I know someone who loves this tea, but I’m not so keen on it. It seems to be neither green or chai. Maybe I like my greens actually strong and fresh and I like my chai spicy and intense. So this tea could be at odds with itself. I find some Stash teas overload on the spices more than the actual teas. I’ll pass on this tea.

This is a tea bag. This could be great if it weren’t so weak. Someone made it for me once and it was pretty good, but when I bought it and made it for myself, I didn’t care for it so much. This will probably be sitting in my cupboard for a long while.

2 min, 190F. Not as good as the Stash chai black, but at least the green tea didn’t get bitter. Added milk, but then it is no longer palate cleansing. Rat feathers! Not undrinkable but sigh I have regrets g
